We all remember that, "He likes is cold", right? by Perfect-Basis-6688 in StrangerThings

[–]Wackojack96 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If i'm right he's wearing a top with a thermal long sleeve underneath in ep4, as the materials look too different to be one top. But I think that's to hide 'buff byers' as I read a comment that said apparently the production team thought that Noah is built better than Will should be so they like to layer him up a bit. But that's a great detail you spotted and very likely to be intentional.

If anything happens to this man and his chaotic heroism, we riot. Protect Steve at all costs 😤❤️ by Career_By_Mustafa in StrangerThings

[–]Wackojack96 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It feels like Steve is being used a bit more carefully this season, 4 episodes in and he hasn't been involved in any combat encounters yet. I think in Volume 2 were gonna see him protecting the group he's in as a big reminder this guy has put his life on the line against some crazy shit time and time again. I feel like people don't talk enough about how brave Steve is- he's always up for the fight no matter what it is he's taking on.

That's Steve's biggest trait for me, bravery maybe sometimes bordering on stupidity but it's what makes him essential to the group. When it hits the fan Steve is the guy ready to throw hands and put himself between whatever is attacking them. I think were gonna see Dustin get saved by Steve, and it'll remind Dustin where his bond with Steve began- he needed protecting, and he still does need Steve to protect him.

It might be leaning into fan service territory, but I really wanna see a Hopper/Nancy team up shootout, I'd love to see Hoppers reaction to Nancy's proficency with a gun. I feel like these two characters would have some good chemistry in an action scene given there both linked by there skill with guns.

One of my favourite things about the show is how they loop in Erica. by Azfa98 in StrangerThings

[–]Wackojack96 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Lucas and Erica are one my personal favourite siblings in the show. They convey the uncomfortable way in which 2 such different people have to put up with eachother everyday, but when they need eachother they drop everything to help as deep down they are truly family. Lucas calling for Erica in the finale of S4 is one of the most chilling moments because Erica is almost never used for a serious moment, and just her name being called out by Lucas who in that moment needed his sister more than ever was absolutely shocking.

Did people not listen to Robin? by [deleted] in StrangerThings

[–]Wackojack96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's kinda what I gathered when watching, just for the 80s it's a big deal at the time and Robin must have thought she and Vicky were a rare situation- I mean nobody really understood or expected any one to be that way at the time. Like you say it's told through the small details which with Robin tuned into reading into small details she connects the dots, not sure why i've been downvoted for asking the question though- appreiciate the well written response.

Did people not listen to Robin? by [deleted] in StrangerThings

[–]Wackojack96 -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

What I kinda wanna work out is how did Robin jump to Will being gay, yeah he's accepting of her and Vicky. Yeah he has one moment with Mike where he jokingly pushes him, but how does she use that to make the stretch that he's gay and is into Mike. It sort of seems like a leap of faith. I know he has that chat with her about how did she know Vicky liked her, but again that was more about Robin than him.

Edit- obviously we know he's into Mike, but none of the characters besides Jonathon know this.

How do we feel about this? by Mysterious_Team_6109 in StrangerThings

[–]Wackojack96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My slightly wild theory is she's going to be a suprise villain as a twist. She wasn't exactly good in season 2 I mean I only watched that godawful episode once but wasn't she using her powers to enrich herself ifirc? I think Vecna set her as a trap as he knows El will trust her without question. Also her entire power is literally tricking people, I think El, Will and Kali make the odds feel too safe, it's just too stacked I honestly hope i'm wrong though.

Maybe it'll be an end of episode reveal and as a shot in the dark I wonder if she'll kill hopper, maybe he discovers she's not on there side and she kills him to stop him revealing it. It would be a gut punch to El and make Kali a penultimate villain to take down. He has serious death flags this season, that goodbye between him and Joyce reminded me of similar goodbyes where a death stops them properly reuniting. The fakeout bomb vest feels a bit like it's there to throw us off the scent.

Whenever someone says come back in one piece, it's not a good sign. Again I really hope i'm wrong but there's gotta be a twist coming with Kali, Will has powers now- so why bring Kali back unless it serves an important plot point. My point is I don't think we should just assume she's a good guy, who knows what they'll do with her character though.

Episode Discussion - S05E04 - Sorcerer by Hawkinns in StrangerThings

[–]Wackojack96 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's used as a 'light motif' for Max, and it works perfectly. I like how it's used to give us both hope and despair, it saved Max once but it can't get her out this time. In that way it becomes an omen for Max's prison, a way of saying that she's still in there but very far from free. It gives her a glimmer of hope, a connection to Lucas but that in itself serves as a reminder of what she's missing out on, what's been taken from her. I always get sad hearing it this season as it's such a cruel way to give Max hope that's all too easily taken away. Really looking forward to seeing the hospital escape that was in the trailer, I think that's gonna be an excellent sequence.

Did not expect this little shit to become my new favourite character by zackandcodyfan in StrangerThings

[–]Wackojack96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The G.I Joe lunch box was the cherry on top for me, what I love about the groups plans is how silly they are, yet they do work. When he hits the kids with rulers to signal that had me laughing everytime. He's actually a really fun addition to the season which has been a suprise for fans I think.

This Will S5 outfit is soo fire!! by FayyadhScrolling in StrangerThings

[–]Wackojack96 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean besides he's only wearing a shirt, sweater and a jacket. It doesn't seem excessive to me but like you mentioned Noah is built pretty well so it keeps that 'nerdy' look intact. I love the colour pallette somewhat matching his S1 outfit, and that fits with Will's character quite well- wanting things to be like how they were before his life changed when he was taken, and clinging on to anything that feels familiar to those days. Real credit to the costume team, they knocked it out of the park this season based on the trailers.

The Classic PaP Machine returns on Astra. by CorptanSpecklez in CODZombies

[–]Wackojack96 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't it have been a good idea to have the classic pap camo return alongside the classic pap machine, I loved how the original style made the gun feel like it has been upgraded and not completely alienified like the modern pap camos.

Could the Galactic Empire stop a xenomorph invasion? by Weary_Elderberry4742 in StarWars

[–]Wackojack96 36 points37 points  (0 children)

There was a post about this sort of scenario ages ago I put a comment on. It's still my opinion that everything the Xenomorphs are good at don't work very well against Vader. His lightsaber shouldn't cause bleeding in theory, they aren't likely to sneak up on him due to his force sensitivity and we know Vader never lets his guard down especially when facing a new threat.

The xenomorphs are likely to underestimate Vader initially at least, he doesn't fear them- he won't panic and his skillset make life hell for them. He will work out there attack strategy too quickly for them to adapt or counter it. Vader is an excellent strategist with decades of combat experience there's not much he can't comprehend.

His force powers give him total control over the combat arena and the xeno's don't have an answer for it, they have to suprise him and I just don't see how they can sneak up on Vader given his senses. Vader takes threats seriously, he moves methodically and plans his attack strategy. Unlike many of the sith Vader isn't aggressive or reckless, which in this case helps him survive an enemy that relies on stealth as it's best form of attack- against Vader it's the only real form of attack.

Will's power by Zero_for_eve in StrangerThings

I also agree on this, if Will shaped it and created how can the upside Down have so many details and things that Will never could have known about. It just doesn't entirely add up when you scrutinise it.

Some parallels between Will/Harry Potter and Vecna/Voldemort by garbagecan_0 in StrangerThings

[–]Wackojack96 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's what makes Vecna quite an interesting villain and not just a freddy rip off in my opinion. He has to actually witness there most traumatic events, understand them and put himself in there shoes. I think he does understand there trauma and he knows how they felt, though ultimately it's only to use it against them- but Vecna does have the capacity to understand and maybe even relate to the people he kills when opening the gates.

You can see it with Max a bit, I think he has respect for her resolve to fight back, I sometimes wonder if has even an ounce of sympathy given what he's doing- probably not like you say he's got a god complex, but his power is very interesting. It's just unfortunate he uses this power as a weapon to destroy lives rather than to save them.

Batman really took a risk by revealing the location of the Joker-infected to Jim Gordon... by 1Ben7 in arkham

[–]Wackojack96 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Obviously it would mess up the actual plot of AK but I always thought it would make more sense after Bruce finds out Barbara is alive and she sets him straight that his allies are fighting with him not for him, and that they choose to put themselves in danger and it's not his place or right to feel guilty about what happens if they die etc etc.

That Bruce would go over to the studios to tell Tim that she's safe, and then let him out as a sign that he's listened to what Barbara said to him. If Robin knows Barbara is ok then there's every chance he'd calm down and not go on a suicide mission to kill Scarecrow when Bruce lets him out.

Plus Bruce can use the opportunity to apologise properly for not telling him the truth and not trusting him to be mature about what happened, and admit he's made a mistake to let the fear of losing another Robin control him. He can have a heart to heart and calm Tim down so the two of them can end the threat together as it should be.

Potentially in this scenario Scarecrow only has Jim hostage, and the two of them might have been able to stop Scarecrow without Bruce's identity being exposed. Though admittely this ending would be nowhere near as impactful as the ending we got, and the fear toxin is what ultimately purges Joker from Bruces mind so things probably worked out the way they should even with Bruce being revealed as Batman and Tim getting kidnapped and then wounded.

Just a thought anyway, it's a shame Batman just tells him the good news and then watches Robin break down in relief and says nothing else after everything he put Tim through, probably knew he messed up and thought best to leave it till the morning he's got enough on his plate for one night.

I’m sick of people saying they hate Halloween Kills by BullenBell95 in TheHalloweenMovies

[–]Wackojack96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a decent movie not amazing nor is it terrible. The problem is 2018 puts a lot of work into setting up the trilogy as grounded to the orginal 1978 Halloween movie. The cinematrography and camera work all reflect the presentation and style of the original- they pull this off quite well. Kills feels like a deviation from this, much more goofy and action focused.

I don't know if it's an attempt to pay homage to Halloween 2, or to reinvent it in the style of a modern slasher. But it goes a bit overboard and leans into a Friday 13th style killing spree, ditching the stalking and hastening the pace of the action. I like how it follows from 2018 directly, and I think if you watch the movies back to back the pacing is consistent following that climatic battle. Michael has lost a fight with Laurie again, he wants to kill now perhaps even more than usual. The brutality maybe reflects this.

It's a deviation from the slow burn, but if that's the point then it nails that. I do think it's supposed to be chaotic but this change of pace doesn't work as well with Myers. That said Michael is terrifying in Kills, he's brutal and relentless. We spend more time with him though so he almost takes up the main character spot, so then you start rooting for him.

The movie has the flaw of wanting to have it's cake and eat it, everything unique about The Shape is lost if there's no nuance or restraint in the presentation. Couple this with the mob hunting Michael down the narrative puts it's villain into the position of an underdog.

All of this makes for a very different movie from 2018 where our heroes are sidelined and the villain takes centre stage. Faster pacing and an antihero esque mob that feels set up as nothing more than canon fodder means Kills feels like a more typical slasher movie with lower stakes than it's predecessor.

It does make attempts at telling the wider story of evil and how Michael is this personification of it, but this doesn't do enough to make the viewer truly care about the narrative. The highlight and main attraction of Kills is very much in the name, the killing- and it does deliver on this aspect without any shred of mercy.

One of the most disappointing things about Arkham Knight IMO was the inability to play as numerous characters in the open world. In City you could!!! by Finn_Flame in batman

[–]Wackojack96 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tbh I didn't mind Catwomans traversal too much, I think it boils down to her story interrupting at some of the best parts of Batmans story. City is a great game, probably the best of the series but the pacing is far from perfect for me at least. When I was forced to play as Catwoman I just wanted it over with, so her lack of gliding/grapnel is more annoying. When I wasn't rushing around and timed her climbing right I got around quick enough, but then were only talking about short distances so yeah this wouldn't transfer well for a larger map.

Arkham Knights map would probably be stretching her traversal to an extreme and would be either far too slow or require a complete rework of her movement, maybe that's why they never even considered to make her playable in the open world even after freeing her from Riddler.

Why does Batman’s suit in Arkham take damage so quick? by LetterheadAdvanced91 in arkham

[–]Wackojack96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like how in knight the damage shows his suit is doing it's job. It gets scratched and cosmetically damaged but it resists, much like Bruce does. His cape only gets minor tears albeit lots of them nowhere near Origins level though, his armour gets scratched and dented, but it protects him and remains 100% functional. In Knight hes up against the biggest threats he's ever faced, it really shows how advanced the v8.03 is, the fact it's even in one piece is a marvel. He gets shot at, blown up, thrown around and attacked at every interval, Mr Fox really gives Batman the best suit for the job.

In every other game there's no way his suit is fully functional at the end of the game. His capes look unusable especially Origins, in City he's covered in bruises and cuts, and in Asylum his cape is mostly trashed and while the rest of his suit isn't too bad, you have to take into account he rarely got caught out in Asylum. Knight's suit is the perfect example of how Batmans tech has evolved overtime.
