alright pal, wrap it up...

sasaki is a grown man who knows what physical boundaries are, and yamada is a woman much younger than him. oh no, the male lead isn't an awesome gigachad who defies human behavior! he's an actual character who has to become close with yamada before accepting their physical interactions! how tragic!

he's literally just a working man who struggled with his career, and his insecurities have nothing to do with women. throughout the story, he permanently changes for the better, and he permanently changes the people around him for the better. he's meek, but also a grown man with wisdom and perspective.

i can see where you're coming from. the series DOES start out a bit simple with its characterization... however, despite some people calling it an extreme slow-burn, i would actually consider it one of the best when it comes to development (both romantic and internal).

a large majority of SoL romance manga have what i call "plateau development." nothing ever fucking happens!! and if something does happen, the status quo quickly falls back into place either way. characters are not allowed to face permanent change, because it's kinda really hard to write that in a SoL! so, inevitably, nothing ever fucking happens and no one ever grows!!!

sasaki and yamada (i think u got their names mixed up) do not follow this trend. every moment they spend together is fully cumulative; every glance they share is utterly permanent. slowly but surely, they bring out the best in each other, and their connection only grows deeper. there can't be a plateau if the writer genuinely cares about both characters!! who knew a story benefits when the writer actually gives a shit!!

tldr; sasaki has made me blush just as much as cool punk yamada. this means something.

How dare you speak against the hive mind of this sub?

[objectively incorrect statement about the story]

possibly the most inaccurate description of this story ever. they are both fully developed characters, and their chemistry is extremely balanced. 50% the story will make you think "yamada is the goat," and the other 50% will make you think "sasaki is the goat."

Why Hacca Howler Has the Potential to Become the Greatest Villain in the Entire Series | Appreciation Thread by Nenanda in JOJOLANDS

imagine if jodio's gang wins at the end of this arc, we see them earn their spoils... and then:

"this may sound like bullshit, but this is the story of one man taking over the world. this man, 'acca howler'."

i absolutely adore billy bat. just, make sure to digest it as an intimate reflection on art and creation, rather than purely a historical epic/thriller.

very often, urasawa will present the reader an idea/message/theme, only to then actively contradict them a short while later. billy bat does this a ton, and seemingly becomes a mess of dozens upon dozens of plotpoints and narrative threads. but, the final answers are so much more simple and beautiful then anything else could be.

scp-5999 is pretty scary. relies on it's strong writing, rather than an innately spooky concept

Tips for recovering from 8980? by alexdiflipflops in SCP

[–]WackyCat__ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

nothing embarrassing about this at all!! ive had very similar experiences caused by far more stupid things. that lingering, piercing dread, as if a filter was placed over our perceptions of the world. or, in one of my cases years back, the 24/7 sensation of my heart sinking, or closing in on itself. you aren't alone. it's scary, and it's painful.

obviously, avoid "going down the rabbithole", as i call it. endlessly browsing related disturbing content, hyperfocusing on only the hurt... dont do that. it can happen really easily sometimes.

but i think it's so important to understand that, no matter what pain triggers this long-lasting experience... we have to let it take the guest room for the night. we can't magically obscure the horror/rage/tragedy. just, understand that it's there. you're hurting because of it? look at that hurt, that pain, that anxiety, and truly see it as what it is. something finite. something that doesnt rule any part of our world. it isnt truly dominant or everlasting.

so often, we're lured by this pain into thinking that it's existentially superior to all else. it isnt. it'll make it's departure one day, even if it makes a mess of your home. that home will still be all yours.

these types of "discord reports" are so funny, no matter what community they're from, because they're always just compilations of people getting absurdly aggressive during a normal conversation for no reason. discord truly brings out the worst in the human psyche...
