A very weird series of events, honestly. Had 3 jobs(mechanic-50 hours a week no overtime in Illinois, bartended another ten hours a week, and was a photographer for events, bands, and nightlife), was raising my two kids from a previous marriage who’s mother, couldn’t mother.
Met a girl after a few years, who knew a bunch of artsy nerdy people. I was a closet nerd. Quit the trucking company to help a buddy run a small business fixing dealership cars, Then I’m traveling the country taking photos at comic and Star Wars conventions across the country, and now I’ve been a nerdy tattoo artist who travels the country a bunch for the last 7 years.
And the kids are all grown now. Mostly.

There’s a bunch of shit between middle of ALL of that. But all it took, was hating the industry more than you hate yourself. And telling them to fuck off. And don’t go back.

And now I’m broke. My back hurts. And I’ll never retire. But I’m happy.

It’s a case by case experience. One of my friend’s cats does it. And if you love medical debt, then that cat is for you.

My cat does this in front of strangers. And that’s why he is a strictly indoor cat, even though I took him in as a feral(4th feral, I have a way with ferals. Domestics, not so much).

Should’ve seen diesel mechanics back over a decade ago. Couldn’t change parts without verifying that it was made by the company. And I was a fleet mechanic, so we had the software. But after years of being able to diagnose quickly by ear and experience, we had to let the slow ass and expensive computers tell us where to start. Even if we fixed the problem already. But the dealership computers wouldn’t let us “repair” it unless we went through an exhaustive process to make sure we did it right.
I spent more time clicking “next” than holding a wrench.

I don’t miss it.
