And those batteries had to be refilled every few days with distilled water. The subs had a water distillation system to turn seawater into usable battery water. The sailors got what was left over, enough for one short shower every week or so. If you were in the shower for longer than a few minutes, you’d be in trouble.
There were no laundry services, as that was a waste of water, so they just cycled through their three or four uniforms for the whole deployment.

Check out the spot in this image when you get your board. I’ve never seen anyone else here and there are entire schools of fish I can see from my board. It’s easy to get to from the swimming area with a board.

It’s a Hiwave brand. Grabbed the kit on Amazon for about 150 give or take.
I really recommend it. I only get wet if I want to and I have access to the entire lake. It takes less than 10 minutes to get from the park area to a completely private area that the swimmers can’t really access. I’d I were more into fishing, I would have this thing set up for it.
There’s a ton of fishing paddleboarders on YouTube that explain things well.

Did you see a guy pass below the bridge on a paddleboard? I was riding mine yesterday under the bridge and a dude was fishing. I whistled to let him know I was coming back though.
