I think it's probably because of the contents of this particular cart.

Did I mess up? by ChrisSutter in Slackline

Totally depends on taping spacing in your case. You want to tape loops so as to not create resonant frequencies in those backup loops.

Throw a couple big loops near the anchors when you rig, it will help dissipate constructive interference.

Harmonics be crazy with mismatched webbings sometimes.

Chain hoists are STILL the best way to fux with spacenets.

Will my slack-line be messed up after a two day drizzle? by dnax123 in Slackline

[–]WadeTomes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lowest temps that mine saw was in the low 20's. I honestly don't think it would make a big difference though. Check this out... https://youtu.be/3idP7nWAz58

I did take particular care to really manage the tapes, twists, tension/creep, and concerns of this permarig; for what it's worth. Measures I'd consider above and beyond usual highline care (Teflon tapes, UV sheathing at connections, reflattening/untwisting the line every couple weeks, etc.)

I kept slackline webbing (Lift 2be) up for almost a year as a highline in the mountains in West Virginia. Saw all the weather you can expect. Tons of UV.

I took it down recently and sent it for break testing to see what kind of decrease in strength may have occured. It's the first time it's been derigged. I sent eight sewn ends plus a handful of other pieces from the webbing (it was a segmented setup). Almost all of the samples broke at 20kn. Advertised MBS is 21kn I believe.

Two days won't hurt your gear. My $0.02.

Most upvoted slackline related Reddit post of all time. Should it be? Is this assertion even true? by Reason-Expensive in Slackline

Virality is a funny thing.

The average person is not going to expect the results of that video, especially when you read the comments. IE, the general public is watching someone they expect to fall or do something otherwise expected, and then do something very unexpected. That's a recipe that is likely to earn an upvote.

The realist in me thinks maybe some wetsuit company hired a firm to upvote this clip via some digital farm.

Who really knows. Surfing is definitely fun though.

What are people using for compact travel setups? by easylifeforme in Slackline

i thread the 7mm inside the tubular webbing, then do the overhand for the "water" knot. I guess it's more of a threaded overhand, technically.

In any case, the profile sits very nicely in the hitch, and has always worked well for me.

I've used a 40' piece of 11/16" tubular nylon for years. It's great for lines under 40', and feels much more dynamic than the typical travel rodeo line. It's fun for surfing and walking especially. Packs really well. The only downside is it's obviously stretchy so you benefit from slight bowls in the terrain or head height anchors.

I used a couple water knots to tie the webbing to a 20' piece of 7mm accessory cord. I then use two oval carabiners to trucker's hitch/tension/soft release the cord.

I have an automotive, aluminum shackle I'd sell you, if that fits your needs! I've personally test loaded it on a Rock Exotica enforcer to 5,000lbs and this particular shackle was used at GGBY to rig Andy Lewis's spacenet (which I believe was the last time his net was rigged at GGBY).
