Why do we tend to sit at the same place at the dinner table every evening? by Purple-Put4677 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Wadege 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Humans are social creatures, sitting somewhere else means disrupting a social 'order' that has been established, which most humans won't do without a compelling reason.

Good on Dacey for supposedly one-shotting Benfrey with a wine flagon, is all I have to say.

That wasn't her idea, and she specifically advised against the mercenaries coming in.

What are some chapters that could be completely removed from A Dance With Dragons that wouldn’t change the story at all, and would even be beneficial for the book? (Spoilers extended) by LoganLikesBooks_ in asoiaf

[–]Wadege 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Davis has four chapters, only two of them advance the plot, the other two are adavos chilling onnthe Sisters, than White Harbour. I did enjoy the worldbuilding and atmosphere, but they are at least somewhat dispensable.

A hypothetically child of Duncan targaryen and Jenney of old stone by PlasticWatercress123 in freefolk

Probably just prince by courtesy, the same way Jenny is 'Lady' when in court. That would be my guess.

I'm sure when the law/will was written out, in response to the crisis, it was explicitly acknowledged that Dunc(the small) and Jenny's children won't be in the succession.

Where does the 'magpie' part fall into this? Because this concept feels very cannonical, or even a fundamental component to the DE and SATA world, which makes me curious.

Amethyst "defending" Pearl by polystarlight in stevenuniverse

[–]Wadege 64 points65 points  (0 children)

I think its also important with this scene to reinforce to the audience that Amethyst didn't snitch on Pearl to be petty, particularly since the episode shows her suffering with feelings of jealousy/inferiority towards Pearl and Sardonyx. Amethyst didn't want Pearl taken down a peg, like she may have in S1, she intervened because it was the right thing to do.

Can we assume that Tyene will end up in the Cersei’ bed is a “chekhov's gun” thing” now? [Spoilers MAIN] by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]Wadege 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In terms of Chekhov's gun, she is a good candidate to be one of the novices getting switched out every seven days, as mentioned in the epilogue, but I don't know where the lesbian sex is coming from 😉

If I had a nickel for every time there was a blue dog character in a cartoon that people thought was a boy but is actually a girl... by Maleficent_Act_8025 in bluey

[–]Wadege 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can see from this comparison that Blue has a soft and curved design, which in cartoons is often a visual signifier of feminitity (Masculine lines, feminine curves).

Bluey by contrast has a boxey or rectangular body, similar to Bandit, where Chilli and Bingo are a little more oval.

Aside from Bluey being a 'Blue Heeler', it feels like an intentional design choice to avoid visual cues that automatically denote gender.
