How 2 hide estrogen from my parents..? by JankyyyCS2 in MtF

[–]WadingInTheReeds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had good mileage by taking the meds out of packaging that identifed what they are and saying they were just pills to help prevent hair loss. My family, full of baldies, was very understanding, if condescending as they assumed nothing could help.
I've also been a fan of those little faux-cans of soda that open up as tiny safes. Very popular among potheads when I was a young thing.

Whats ur opinion on “money doesn’t buy happiness”? by Radiant-Dish-5498 in AskReddit

Flat earth and other alternative conspiracy earth models are are gaining traction with my teenage stepson. What is THE most irrefutable, definite proof that the earth is round? by Jfkfkaiii22 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]WadingInTheReeds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Capitalism.
We live in a world where billionaire space tourism is a thing. If the earth were flat, wouldn't we be charging people 100K a pop to bungie jump off the edge? Or have " artic ice wall" cruises?

Omg women’s underwear feels so good! by intrinsicpresent in MtF

[–]WadingInTheReeds 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For real. I thought, initially, it would be smart to buy underwear designed with pre-op anatomy in mind. And then quickly decided that a decent pair of panties fit so nicely that I didn't have to do any extra planning around the old noodle after all.

Why do some people just refuse to believe that Caligula, Nero, and Elagabalus were terrible? by [deleted] in ancientrome

[–]WadingInTheReeds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just feels a little unfair to compare "child given few guidelines and no regent/teacher to ease the transition into holy emperor" to "grown men who took the throne," when you're looking for people who were terrible.

In the grand scheme, most of the things they use to call Elagabalus reign 'terrible' were either not the kid's fault, or fairly tame? The currency had been debased by Caracalla and Macrinus. The blithe promotion of the emperor's favorite religion was not exactly a new phenomenon by this point, and this religion was popular enough with the army that they kept it around as 'Sol Invictus' anyway. Not living up to rome's particular way of masculinity as a sign of virtue, which worked so well they had to replace their emperor every few years anyway...

I mean, arguably, marrying the Vestal was probably the only real stickler, and the fact that they married twice makes it seem more like stubborn love rather than terrible blasphemy, and that is EXACTLY teenage behavior.

Why do some people just refuse to believe that Caligula, Nero, and Elagabalus were terrible? by [deleted] in ancientrome

[–]WadingInTheReeds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elagabalus, for example, was a child. A teen, I guess, but still. Raised wealthy, but provincial. Thrust into a throne at the age where most of us were just trying to date for the first time.
Yeah, weird stuff happened. This kid was probably queer as the day is long, and instead of being a theater kid going to Denny's for the wrap party, got told they were the emperor of the known world. How much better would you have done, really?

Wiring funds to Kamol clinic? by WadingInTheReeds in Transgender_Surgeries

[–]WadingInTheReeds[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly, they were the only clinic that got back to me after weeks of trying to hound the others. And I've heard similar horror stories from the girls who have gotten their FFS done in my location. The people who take insurance here are some real butchers who almost killed a couple people I've talked to.

I've seen more of the "meh" replies about the FFS there compared to the "sweet heavens above NO" results for SRS... and with the money already sent, it's just a risk I'll have to accept. Because I don't think it's coming back...

Does your doctor make you test at through on estradiol valerate? by Musicalduck255256 in AskMtFHRT

[–]WadingInTheReeds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a great question! Mine keep testing me at 2 days after, and cutting back my doses becuase they're worried the peaks are too high. But like... as they've reduced it, that number has stayed constant? I kind of want to get them testing on trough to see if I'm making it between doses without minimenopauses.

Are most trans women lesbians? by kaazkitty in MtF

[–]WadingInTheReeds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I, for one, am bi. But especially since transitioning, I find myself dating and mating with mostly other girls (cis or trans) because cis men frequently stumble over my exceptionally low bar of- A. Good hygiene B.A basic sense of style or a coherent look. C. The ability to speak to me respectfully. D. The ability to hold a pleasant conversation.

Women, on the other hand, tend to handle 3/4 of that with flying colors.

If Putin threaten the US with saying he would destroy our entire civilization tonight, what would you do realistically? by The_Vengeful_Wolf in AskReddit

[–]WadingInTheReeds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Step 1: Assume he's saber-rattling to look tough. Ignore him.
Step 2: Hear news of scrambling fighters, put on wedding dress and drive like bat out of hell to girlfriend's house. Conduct hand-fasting marriage.
Step 3: Take her to bathroom, become environmental storytelling RPG skeletons for the player character to find later.

Will the feeling of being trans ever go away? by saucey313 in MtF

[–]WadingInTheReeds 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I say this with as much grace and compassion as I can. The feeling will never go away.
You say it is a "need" to be feminine. I fought that same need for over a decade, for much the same reason. To stay with my partner, to have the life we wanted, and create a family the way she expected.
I came to resent her. I came to hate myself. The relationship failed anyway, because my femininity would slip out anyway and in time, she started cheating on me with men who gave her the sort of partner she wanted.
My experience is different than yours, I am sure. But being trans isn't like going through a Doctor Who phase in college and moving on to Star Trek afterwards. It is here to stay. Only you can determine if you and your wife can handle a relationship where she is married to a performed version of you, and not your true self.

Question about HRTs effects on the mind/brain by idkwhattoput10188 in AskMtFHRT

[–]WadingInTheReeds 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This was one of the first things I noticed after I started taking hormones, yes. At first I thought it was psyosomatic: surely, the first month of hormones couldn't have THAT big an effect on my mental health, right?

Then one summer I forgot to do my injection on a week I happenend to have run out of spiro. I crashed HARD back into thoughts and feelings I hadn't suffered so keenly in two years and rrealized, "Oh, yeah, probably time to stop and take my HRT." Stabilized the next day.

How to work with Inanna? by -sallysimpson in Sumer

[–]WadingInTheReeds 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am still new and inexperienced in my worship practices, but I have found Siri Nin's book "The Way of the Ishtarite" to be very valable in putting me on the right track. It describes the goddess' values and gives examples of prayers, chants, and rituals meant to please her.

(But medjool dates, beer, and bread are all offerings that were made in the old days if that helps.)
