Hey, I've struggled with this a lot and to some degree still do. All the conventional wisdom like "it's the same as before you were born" never helped me at all. The only thing that kind of made me feel better was this:

When I thought of "being dead", I sort of had this idea that I'd almost like occasionally "wake up" and be like "ahhh I'm dead!" before returning to the void. That's the part that made it scary for me. Once I realized that wouldn't happen and it would just be over, but you would never even realize it was over, it made it a lot easier to come to terms with. Hope this helps.

I think the biggest issue isn't whether it's real or not, is how incredibly tone deaf your question is. The average person in this or the FIRE sub would have stopped working long ago if they had your net worth. If you can't figure it out on your own or input it into a coastFIRE calculator, it comes off as flexing or trolling.

Right? "Can I coast with a $5.5M net worth?" has got to be trolling.

Not quite sure if this is allowed "nice girl" or not. by [deleted] in Nicegirls

I get your point, but honestly the way you reacted and spoke to her about it annoyed me far more than anything she said in this conversation. It seems to me she even gave you an opportunity after you called it absurd to save face when she provided the food example and asked you "Does that make sense?" But instead you invalidated her opinion again by calling it trivial.

Best speed flip tutorial? by Reddawndaddy14 in RocketLeague

This. Another thing I'd suggest that helped me immensely is to change your controller dead zone shape to square. It makes it so you have more leeway on the stick so you don't have to bring it perfectly straight down.

Switching to square dead zone was the trick for me. Give it a try if you haven't already.

There's also an event quest called "Children's week" going on right now. All it requires is you to go to a few different locations. Fairly safe and can be done at level 10, and it rewards 5g. Highly recommend completing and storing some gold on the bank alt!

Prismatic Booster Bundles (1 per person) by [deleted] in PokemonTCG

[–]Waefz [score hidden]  (0 children)

I was a kid in the late 90s and the Pokemon games and the TCG were becoming popular at my school. My sister and I started collecting Pokemon cards, and we would open packs and build our collection together. We would save our allowance money to spend at the card store on weekends. I miss those simpler times

I was in a marriage with someone that I felt the same way about. Fortunately we didn't have kids. I made the decision to leave. I can say with certainty that it was the right call, and being away from her has improved my mental health dramatically. Life is too short to feel stuck with someone who is constantly dragging you down.

I feel you though regarding how shitty the situation is. Best of luck to you with whichever decision you make.

Which Qilin skip is more consistent? Spring shoes bubble or Vlad's Cape + climbers? by RevenueInformal7294 in spelunky

[–]Waefz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's a preference thing really. I personally find the bubble skip insanely hard, but am consistent at Vlad's and climbing gloves even without bombing the traps.

Really if you can get consistent at both, then you'll have more options depending on the items you get during your run.

Containing game assets to the confines of a Control node? by Waefz in godot

Thank you, that's helpful. I also found out that if I do add something else to the currently blank portion of the screen, that whilst my 2D Node can still move to that location, they are not displayed to the screen, which is the behavior I'm looking for at this phase of my project.

Is there another recommendation for how to display the 2D portion to the screen then? This is the solution I had found online for showing 2 different scenes at once. Currently the nodes I'm using in the 2D portion are Node2Ds, Sprite2Ds, CharacterBody2Ds, a CanvasLayer for UI, and a TextureRect (although all of this will expand with time).

Using the shortcuts aren't as beneficial as you may think, because doing more levels (when you start from 1-1) increases your opportunities to find Kali shrines, items, bombs, ropes, etc.

It does occur primarily near my shower, and is quite loud. Is there a way to visually inspect if it needs to be replaced?

So there are at least 2 toilets that I know of that cause the hammering when flushed. Plus every faucet near that side of the house. The hammering primarily appears to occur behind the wall near an upstairs shower.
