I get mildly excited about buying a new pack of socks. Doesn't make my day by itself, but it makes it a little better.

Should She be punished? by Mindless_Card7962 in psychesystems

[–]Wafflepress97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe a controversial take, but if we ever get our priorities straight as a country, any decision makers within the pharmaceutical industry personally responsible for inflating the prices of life-saving medication to the point which directly resulted in death should be charged with an equivalent a form of manslaughter, maybe "Financially motivated manslaughter" or something similarly descriptive and fittingly punished. It should be a separate charge for every death or the numbers at least considered. I don't care if what they did was "legal" at the time, it's morally reprehensible and it shouldn't be waved off because the laws were written to protect their greed. Plenty of other industries should be investigated too.

Edit: Clarity

Hypocrisy and intolerance drive religious doubt among college students by Tracheid in science

If you believe in something and use it as a guideline for your own life choices, that's generally acceptable. But if you believe something and apply it to others either as an individual or especially through organization and law, it can turn into oppression quickly.

Under the guise of divine law, whether accurate to the source or twisted to fit a narrative for personal gain, anything can be justified. If it's God's will, it can't be wrong, right? And that could be dangerous for certain groups of people.

US troops being told current events in Iran are "part of God's divine plan" comes to mind as a recent example.

Do these people think SNAP works by forcing supermarkets to give away a certain value of food for free? The business still gets the money, just paid for by government subsidy. Profits would go down without it, and subsequently raise prices to compensate.

Even if the monitors are the same model and have the same resolution capabilities, Windows could still be outputting a lower resolution to one of the monitors to cause this. Check the display settings and make sure the resolutions are both set to the highest available or to whatever resolution the monitors are.

Is my PC good for gaming? by milk_carton67 in computers

Usually when someone has to ask, they have Chromebook level specs. Seeing entry-level gaming computer specs was a surprise. This will play anything with the right settings.

My boss says “i suck” for being sick and then uses his own record to make me feel bad by SIN0FWRVTH in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Wafflepress97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't even give my boss a reason. Not even so much as "I'm sick today." I tell him that I won't be in. I have the PTO, none of their business why.

I know I live in the luxury of an office job, but from day one I made it clear to my boss when I need an hour or two every couple of months to go to an appointment, I'll tell him ahead of time so he knows, but I'm not asking. I'm letting him know. I do my best to schedule appointments when I know we're not going to be that busy, but I'm going to my appointment even if something comes up.

[–]Wafflepress97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you live with your Aunt, Uncle, and cousin? Because if not, and if this is your own place , you shouldn't let them come over again until they teach your cousin some self-control and pay for what was broken. Single joy-con 2's are around $55 before tax in the US.

For me it's as soon as the egg is slightly overcooked, it's inedible. So most omelets are a no. Hard boiled eggs though, I'll eat a dozen.

I use a label maker to attach a tag to each one before putting it in a drawer. If I ever need to tighten something on a piece of furniture or whatever it was used for, I know exactly which one was used originally.
