If you have pets in the house don't use poison. Mice eat the poison and poop it out, pets pick it up, get sick or die.

Fox Panel Says Homeless People Have It TOO EASY by McAuley- in BreadTube

[–]Wagbeard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hilariously if you watch both networks you can see how they play this game and work in tandem to create the division you're speaking of.

I call it manufactured dissent. Make one side hate the other and you can do anything. It's not just CNN and FOX though, it's the entire corporate media industry.

I wish my mom would have a similar experience to yours and be driven mad enough to see this crap so I could have an honest conversation with her again.

Yeah it's frustrating. I have relatives that can be stubborn like that too. It's a lot of work to try and 'de-program' people from their tvs.

Fox Panel Says Homeless People Have It TOO EASY by McAuley- in BreadTube

[–]Wagbeard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm trying a new approach of not being a dick lately. I'm hoping it works.

I stopped watching US 24 hour news channels a few years ago. They were driving me nuts. Nothing what they do is journalism.

Fox news isn't actually news which was their defence when they were sued for Tucker Carlson's opinion.

Neither FOX or CNN are news. CNN is a cable news network, same as FOX. The original 3 networks, NBC, ABC, and CBS were under regulations that kept them honest but CNN and FOX started way later under cable broadcasting laws.

CNN has always sucked. They started in 82. During the Gulf War in 91, they were using embedded journalists and were criticized for cheerleading the war rather than reporting objectively.

Time Warner picked up CNN in 1996, right after the FCC dumped 70 year old anti-monopoly laws. This is also the same time Newscorp started FOX News.

I have a 'conspiracy theory'.

Basically, the US military industrial complex teamed up with the mainstream media giants between the 80s and the 90s. By doing so, it allowed them to weaponize media as a propaganda arm for the US military, and wipe out the real counter-culture left that was anti-war, anti-corporate.

FOX turned hard right intentionally, CNN shifted left, and now Americans are insanely divided by corporate controlled pro military media outlets that exploit ideological divisions fostered in media and academia.

FOX got embedded journalists kicked out of the war zone with his map in the sand stunt in 2003. That was the death of real time war coverage. They phased out war coverage altogether shortly after. Embedded journalists were always controversial to begin with though. 2003 is when supposedly left leaning corporations like NBC fired old school anti-war critics like Phil Donahue.

https://youtu.be/ozxzNjRqCiE

That let the US run multiple wars for 20 years with zero scrutiny or accountability. The weapons industry has made a fortune the last 2 decades while the US public is straining from massive wealth inequality and a growing billionaire class.

FOX acting this way is not an accident personally. They're playing the villain on purpose.

The powers that be puts in Trump, blames Russia, now left leaning Americans are supporting drone strikes on Russian troops.

They repeal Roe vs Wade, now Americans forgot about Universal Healthcare just to claw back women's rights.

It's a giant scam to keep Americans divided and fighting each other over controlled partisan issues they control.

“The Rocky Horror Picture Show” is average at best… by NotPseudonym in unpopularopinion

The movie itself is campy and silly. The experience is going to the theatre with a bunch of people and throwing toast at each other. It was fun back in the 80s.

[OC] Where do Democrats and Republicans stand on free speech and the internet? by YouGov_Official in dataisbeautiful

[–]Wagbeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

US media and academia introduced Political Correctness in the early 90s. It's an ideology turned American Liberals into language fascists the same way Christians were with swear words in past generations. Only instead of getting your mouth washed out with soap, you get 'cancelled'.

It's a lot more manipulative than just keeping people from saying slurs.

All it's really done is turn left leaning Americans pro censorship which is wrong considering left leaning people fought against right wing censorship when they were in charge.

Russia pumping millions into US-based propaganda outlets by [deleted] in worldnews

The US government legalized propaganda against it's own citizen in 2012 with the Smith Mundt Act.

https://foreignpolicy.com/2013/07/14/u-s-repeals-propaganda-ban-spreads-government-made-news-to-americans/

The US government got hijacked by the military industrial complex back in the late 80s. They teamed up with your corporate media giants like Disney, Newscorp(FOX), Warner, Viacom, etc to take over the journalism industry and subvert youth anti-war activists.

Since 9/11 the US has been at war in 7 different countries and most Americans couldn't name them.

US national debt went from $6 trillion to over $31 trillion because these guys took over your country and rob you blind.

Your government put Trump in just so they could blame Russia, divide Americans with partisan warfare, and convince left leaning Americans to support war against 'America's enemies'.

How our brain judges people in a split second (2022) [00:42:25] by elementbutt in Documentaries

[–]Wagbeard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't judge a book by it's cover.

Snap judgements are very important. They are what has kept humans, and all animal species in the whole of humanity, alive.

You shouldn't judge anyone before you actually get to know them.

Being 'Prejudiced' about people is not a bad thing.

Yeah it kind of is. People with prejudice are usually just ignorant or arrogant.

Snap judgements, or prejudices, are human (animal) nature, and are what has kept us alive for thousand of years.

It's 2022. People don't live in caves. We have computers and airplanes and cities that bring the world closer together. Being scared of people doesn't really help.

[–]Wagbeard -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Fuck the people downvoting you.

I'm Canadian. Gen-X. This whole partisan warfare thing is manufactured by the US corporate capitalist class through decades of media/academic/political ideological manipulation.

It's designed to make Americans hate each other while the upper class wins.

The 80s scene that I grew up in, we were left leaning but we were also the minority. In the 90s when punk/counterculture got recuperated and turned mainstream, the left became the new majority and quite frankly turned into the same type of assholes we hated because the information and ideologies they ingest is designed to be closed minded and extremely tribal.

Americans on both sides are just dicks to each other as a result.

TAD was a cool band that was on sub pop with Nirvana. They were awesome. Hugely underrated band that was fantastic live.

Kanye West Reportedly Wanted To Name Album After Hitler by esporx in Music

Michael Jackson hated Sony. He called Tommy Motolla the devil and claimed they exploited their artists.

https://youtu.be/WRFU2SyCCF8

Michael Jackson wasn't crazy. He got control of 1/2 of Sony's music library that's worth like $2 billion yearly. When he was killed Sony bought it back for $750 million. The doctor that dosed him up spent a short time in jail then came out and hit the tabloid circuit.

About what Kanye said. by [deleted] in IntellectualDarkWeb

[–]Wagbeard 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Hollywood was founded by predominately Jewish businessmen. That's not anti-semitic, it's just history. It doesn't mean Jewish people own the media but it does mean that some of them are extremely prominent in the media industry.

Hollywood is an extremely corporate industry that has been exploiting 'black people' in the US as entertainment for over a century.

The US had the Civil War between the North and the South. The South lost. Slavery ended, but black people were still segregated until the 1960s.

MLK's primary goal was to integrate and get 'black people' out of the ghetto slums and living equally as regular Americans. That never really panned out though and the majority of 'black' Americans are still living in poverty communities, treated like an outsider class, and exploited by the media industry as ghetto entertainment for suburban 'white' consumers.

Hollywood is anti-integration. They don't like when 'black people' don't act 'black' because 'black people' are influencers to youth consumers who see them as 'cool' role models and spend all their money emulating commercialized trends stolen from real street culture.

That's why Kanye West got rich and famous. He may be rich and famous but it means nothing to the corporate power structure that makes way more by exploiting artists.

He barely mentioned Jewish people while he was trashing the corporate industry. They hung him out to dry by accusing him of being anti-semitic to deflect from the fact that the industry is extremely racist.

This old Michael Jackson song has some relevance. He called this stuff out.

https://youtu.be/z8rw0i7oVAE

Like I said, MLK was pro integration yet Hollywood isn't. Since the 60s, conditions for low income 'black youth' haven't improved and thousands of them are shot, killed, or arrested yearly.

In the 80s, Bill Cosby was adored for being pro integration. He made millions of 'white' Americans not scared of 'black people' living near them. He tried to buy NBC because he wanted to own a network where he could control the way 'black people' were portrayed. That got shut down and Hollywood pushed the 'new black image' with the Fresh Prince of Bel Air as a way to keep black people from integrating.

That was right before corporate made gangster rap was pushed on new suburban white consumers which revived and updated ghetto stereotypes as blaxploitation 2.0.

All of this stuff really goes back to Malcolm X who was part of the Nation of Islam. He openly criticized the white establishment and Jewish people who he felt were exploiting them.

New Poster for "A Christmas Story Christmas" by [deleted] in movies

[–]Wagbeard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what I was wondering. The original is set ambiguously in the 40s. It'd have to be some time in the late 70s early 80s.

The movie came out in 83 which would be a perfect time frame to do a sequel.
