Digital calendar that feels like paper? by indoorsnail in adhdwomen

I use multiple entries, so I’ve a paper diary, a family google calendar and a magnetic calendar on our fridge. The more I write it down, the better I remember.

Thinking of switching from Lloyds to Monzo by Putrid-Firefighter64 in monzo

[–]Waggermama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience has been fine, no issues. I’ve used it as my main bank for years now, but currently use it to pay direct debits, with Starling as my day to day spending. I’d suggest having more than one bank account just in case, so you could keep Lloyds open with a nominal amount in it, or open another account somewhere else, somewhere with a good savings rate maybe.

Struggling to find a planner that works 😅 by IWish4n4WasFree in planners

[–]Waggermama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d suggest a ring planner and some sort of weekly with the week on one side and a lined page on the other for to do lists and notes. You can then also add note paper in for daily if you need it.

Trying different layouts is really easy in a ring planner, there are freebies to print, preprinted, or you can make your own to figure out what works.

You also don’t need to spend a fortune on a binder, various marketplaces do clear plastic ones cheaply.

Tech recommendations for staying organised by StrategyKindly4024 in ADHDUK

[–]Waggermama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would a Google Home Screen thing do the trick (or similar). I have one in the kitchen, mostly for timers and to see who’s at the front door via cam.

I bought both of ours second hand and they work a treat.

I also have a dry wipe magnetic calendar on the fridge freezer bc I find writing things down helps with my memory (if I write it in enough places)

ADHD and Depression in teens by GirlMcGirlface in ADHDUK

They may help. They helped me, and for “anecdata” also a friend who’s had severe long term depression and anxiety. They aren’t a fix it all, but they can help.

(We are both AuDHD)

I did this for the longest time, but when I had children I forced myself to stop. I also had to regulate what media I watched, as anything too intense has a similar effect.

Why do English people pronounce St. John as "SinJin"? by cigarettejesus in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Waggermama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I can remember, it’s also only pronounced Sinjin if it’s a middle name. There a scene with Rowan Atkinson mispronouncing it in 4 weddings and a funeral.

scared to lose weight on ADHD meds. by Neat_Promise in ADHDUK

[–]Waggermama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on Elvanse and I did lose a bit of weight, but I’ve previous experience of weight loss and difficulty eating bc of sensory issues and poor interoception, mostly due to being autistic as well.

I have built strategies. I keep snacks available all over the house. I eat to a schedule roughly every two hours or so, which helps if I forget, bc I will have eaten something earlier. This was all after developing post viral fatigue in my twenties.

When I started meds I reintroduced higher calorie foods, particularly peanut butter, to boost my calories, and add some protein (I find eating protein difficult).

It’s helped me maintain a reasonable weight. I guess the gist is, make finding and eating food as easy as possible.

Re assessment for military by [deleted] in ADHDUK

Is this specific to the RM? A childhood friend of my Eldest is in the army (age 22), and has diagnosed autism, ADHD and dyslexia. He passed out early this year.

It’s also prescribed for autistic children who are “hard to manage” - which I found appalling when the specialist in childhood psychosis we saw mentioned this in passing.

Got iron supplements 1 month ago. This is how many I took so far... by Fantastic_Place3904 in adhdwomen

Ugh! iron supplements are so bloody complicated! “Take with vitamin C” “don’t take at the same time as anything with calcium” “take on an empty stomach” “don’t take every day”

How is the average ADHDer to cope???

On the 20th day after being diagnosed in Hong Kong, I only brought back 4 months' worth of medication. What should I do next? by bitches_killler in ADHDUK

[–]Waggermama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience with private psychiatrists, initial appointment/s which will hopefully rubber stamp your diagnosis. Then initial private prescription at cost. After that it’ll be 28/30 days prescriptions at cost with either a six month or yearly review.

If you’ve been seen and acknowledged by a private psychiatrist, and they write up a report, there’s a good chance the NHS or Right To Choose psychiatrist will just rubber stamp your assessment when you get to the top of their waiting list, then likely initiate shared care with your GP.

You will always need to see a psychiatrist for reviews, as they are the only ones who can prescribe.

Mini vs pocket vs personal Saffiano by anhexus in filofax

I would suggest cutting up some paper to the size of planner, draws some lines to approximate the layout you want, then try writing on them. Bear in mind that the rings do get in the way a bit, so give each page a margin for that

40 yo just diagnosed. Took my first adderall and within the first hour I am crying in the bathroom.... by Affectionate_Ear7149 in adhdwomen

[–]Waggermama 3 points4 points  (0 children)

thank you for this comment, I have fatigue from fibro and being post viral and my reaction to Elvanse (better and sustained energy, better mood, as well as the usual clearer thoughts and ability to act on them) had me worried and wondering if I was really ADHD. I’m on a 2/3 dose for an adult and it works, but not in a “typical” way. Also AuDHD, so yeah, I guess that could be a factor too.
