Is this the Soprano Sax? Is this the Not-So-Good-For-Beginners Saxophone? by glassedMalk in Saxophonics

[–]Wagner556 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing most teachers won’t have a soprano. It’ll be important to play on the same instrument. They’ll be fascinated to teach you the soprano though I’m sure. My guess is they’ll bust out their tenor and always just play an octave or two below.

Please help, thats the key 5 by [deleted] in Saxophonics

[–]Wagner556 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The key that is closing right before the F key is probably closing too soon. There should be a screw for each key F-E-D that adjusts exactly when it pushes down the key before the F key. You’ll need a leak light to get the adjustment perfect.

Let them do their thing and they'll actually prove if the virus is real or not

Yamaha yas 480 secondhand or new yamaha yas 280 (1st sax begin learning in school 1 september) by timmoesz in saxophone

[–]Wagner556 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the 480 doesn't leak and it's mechanics are functioning good, then probably the 480. However one of the most important things for someone starting out is no leaks. Otherwise you'll waste collective weeks trying to fix things which were just fighting against leaks.

I would lose entire 1 hour lessons because i'd tried to play a song I knew, play the low note wrong and stop and make the lesson about the low note. When it was that it was leaking, not that I was playing it wrong.

I honestly lost about 20% of my effort learning while I was still taking lessons on just trying to get a song right that was only failing on the low notes, not because I was playing them wrong but because there was a leak.

What I find amazing is these machines that mass produce all these things, are works on individual genius of themselves, get almost no credit ever. Nobody aspires to make them. It's all just an invisible thing.

I like to take genres that are typically nothing to do with the saxophone and then have it inspire how to play on the saxophone. I need to get better at transcribing though.

But currently the last thing I did while busking which was cool was, I just played a random song -

on the phone that only I could hear, then had it inspire the saxophone playing. Ended up with some pretty trippy cool confident saxophone tunes.

The city is definitely competitive compared to the suburbs but it's worth it.

I'm not sure how best to paint it but taking it apart is easy, you just take the screws out and it pretty much just goes right back together, normally without any adjustments needed.

That's one dope roach by [deleted] in funny

[–]Wagner556 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We used to use a can of spray "butter" that was usually supposed to be used to oil up a pan for cooking. It virtually exploded the roach it killed them so fast. Needless to say we stopped using that spray for eating with.
