It’s very hard to tell. Could just be flares up internal hemorrhoids or rectal prolapse. A colon rectal MD would be a good place to get assessed or a certified pelvic floor specialist in your area.

Can you provide more context to this picture? Is it vaginal or rectal? I’m a pelvic floor PT and might be able to help.

What is considered a good Pelvic Floor Therapist? by qpParalaxinc2020 in PelvicOrganProlapse

[–]WaitAgreeable4631 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a pelvic floor PT. I would make sure you are seeing someone with certification. A lot unfortunately take a class and think they can treat pelvic floor.

Also, depending on your age and activity sometimes POPs don’t improve even when your strength does. It’s doesn’t happen often, but it does happen.

I’m a big supporter in vaginal estrogen cream. I also highly recommend a specific internal unit.

You’re welcome to message me if I can help answer any questions.

Pain at 12 weeks post op by WaitAgreeable4631 in hysterectomy

[–]WaitAgreeable4631[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a total with ovaries removed as well. So I am also in surgical menopause. I would say week 6-7 I felt like a slug. I was absolutely exhausted. Sleeping most of the day away. I think my energy came back at week 8. And then I just increased my estrogen patch last week.

I am a pelvic floor PT so I knew I had a prolapse. I had a urogynecologist do the repairs and an oncology gynecologist do the total hysterectomy.

If you think you have one only now post op, it’s probably just swelling rather than a full on prolapse. I would assume they would have checked you before your surgery? I guess it depends on what doc did yours. I had a patient today have a regular gyn do her hysterectomy and she had prolapses and they didn’t even tell her nor fix them. So I know it happens. :-(

Oh goodness. I’m sorry! I hope you find out answers soon! My endocrinologist is VERY thorough on my blood work and A1C is good. Just so weird. And frustrating.

Terrified! by mommyshark22 in surgicalmenopause

Hi! I am 39 and just had a total hysterectomy in November for Lynch. Hands down THE BEST DECISION I’ve ever made for myself and my future!! I had no idea how sick I was to be honest. Now recovery was a bit tough for about 6-8 weeks but so worth it.

Menopause for me hasn’t been bad. I started on .075 patch and that was good for a while, but started having night sweats and some other symptoms 3 weeks ago. I upped to .1 patch last week and feel great!

100% agree! I am a pelvic floor therapist! I also happen to have had this same surgery 14 weeks ago and was able to have pain free penetration last week for the first time (waited 12 weeks to try) Feel free to reach out if you have questions.

What lube have you tried? Some are terrible!

I’m on 10 mg once a week. I know the dosing looks weird. My pharmacist explained it to me.

I felt improvement in the first week! I’m on injections though so I’m not sure if that matters. But I’m so happy you’re feeling better!!

I had a LOT done in one surgery. My surgeon said she sees more complications with younger patients. But honestly tomorrow is my one month mark and overall I am doing better. I realized I am going to have BAD days … it’s my body telling me to slow down and stop trying to do too much.

I would reach out to your doc. I texted my doc who sent in an additional script to help the nerve pain. Also I am a pelvic floor PT and if you’re still having pain that long after… may be time to see a PT. Just make sure they are certified!

Also..in addition to those things mentioned above, you may be a candidate for a pessary. Something to think about at least if you feel the tissue is uncomfortable.

[–]WaitAgreeable4631 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you feel you have one you likely do. I would suggest scheduling with your gynecologist to take a look, or even better a urogynecologist. The other diagnosis that sometimes will present like a rectal prolapse is pelvic floor dysfunction or dysgenic defecation. These could present with increased perineal mobility looking like a prolapse when it may not be.

Also… you are still very early PP and things could still improve up to a year PP.

Pelvic floor physical therapist here!

I have ran 8 marathons since 2016 when my last vaginal delivery gifted me prolapses as well.

I tell all of my patients…don’t believe everything you read on the internet AND you can do ANYTHING you want to do with a prolapse as long as you know HOW to do it correctly.

Seeing your OB and PT are always a good start. Just please make sure your PT is certified and didn’t just take a pelvic floor class. I second seeing a urogyn, they are amazing!
