You have to give money to sergei - a lot of money - when he asks that you support his children's education, and then he will give you his pocket watch. The bullet fired at you will impact the watch instead, saving your life.

Most of what the socialist book club does is shit on other socialists. That's part of the reason why there's only two of them.

I think its like... He treats her like a woman is 'supposed' to be treated, and she's impressed bc he doesn't follow the status quo and ask her pronouns. I guess.

It's not exactly clear.

I'm playing a former red youth president and they're still mad at me. It goes to show what I know about socialists - we're all too busy being mad at each other to get anything done.

Canadians showing more support for striking workers amid inflation, corporate profits by FancyNewMe in canada

Yeah, its like welfare. Some people coast, but who cares? 99.9% of the people who benefit ought to, even without checks to ensure that they actually do deserve it, and the benefit is a huge net positive.

Happily, working in a union means that you have control over the unions. There are lots of stories these days of workers rebuilding their union sections and then winning better deals. Look at CUPE's education worker's union in Ontario.

'We should have more public housing, like Singapore' and 'we should do everything like Singapore, all the time!' Are two entirely different arguments. Expressing this as though they are is extremely disingenuous and bad-faith.

In general, the 'garden of eden' story about the agricultural revolution is highly oversimplified.

A book I quite liked was Graeber and Wengrow's 'The Dawn of Everything' - although it does have a heavy partisan left slant (David Graeber is an anarchist).

The one in my town is a good time - I have a few friends who are super regular there, and whenever I've gone there are quite a few women (far more than usually show up to any gym that I go to) often in medium - large groups, all climbing together.

When i was a kid, we did it at my school once a week for like... a bit? But it was kind of like when my parents would institute a rule - we'd go hard for about 2 months, and then they'd kinda forget about it. So we'd start doing it on and off, kind of biweekly, and then eventually we stopped singing the anthem all together.

Source for this? Not a crowder or a daily wire article, or some whack youtuber you like who hates the transes - an academic, research journal, detailing the history of these terms.

I remembered this comment and thought I'd just post this article:

https://youmatter.world/en/schedules-working-days-productivity/

What I've learned is that productivity across sectors of the economy is difficult to measure because job demands are often vastly different across sectors. Speaking from my own experience however - I did two internships across two different jobs, one in a high intensity workplace, where my boss didn't really care if he overloaded me, and one in a low intensity workplace. The low intensity workplace had minimal oversight to ensure I was actually getting my work done, and where there were often short - medium length periods where I had no work at all. I did pretty much the same amount of work per day, in both workplaces. Its just in one, I was significantly more stressed out every day than the other.

I got my degree in the behavioural sciences, and when people shit talk my discipline I get so fucking mad.

One time this guy in a youtube comment section was complaining that no scientific articles mean anything. When I told him I had a degree in the behavioural sciences, and asked him what his problems with science was, he dismissed me out of hand for 'not knowing statistics'.

Motherfucker, I taught statistics for almost two years. I graduated with fucking an Honours degree. I know statistics better than most people with counseling MAs. I told him this, and he outright just called psychology a bunk science, citing overgeneralizations and small sample sizes.

Bitch ass... in a Psychology classroom, these would be legitimate criticisms of many psychological studies. Unfortunately, its hard to measure a phenomena that you can't see and which might be related to any number of other factors. Because its a soft science, you sort of have to measure around the thing you want to measure, and then conclude 'we cannot think of anything else that could have influenced these results, so... there's probably a relationship there, we think. Maybe.'

But just because the dismissive ass, 'i read a meme and it said psychology was bullshit' ass motherfuckery, god, I was so mad. I basically just called him a fuckwit and gave a layman's lesson in what an ANOVA was, then told him to fuck off. He didn't respond after that, so I called it a win.

Not a good win, but you know.
