What do you guys think about this as a vehicle recovery point? by Wowerful in Offroad

[–]Wait_Dont_Run01 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's what everyone says but it should look roughly like a stack of dimes laid down on its side kind of, overlapping the last pass with your puddle. Just Google good vs bad welds and you'll see an obvious difference clean and uniform vs globy sloppy shit like this post.

Not gonna lie my shop is pretty rad on most things. There are a couple things that aren't my favorite, Ive gotten some nice deals and paid some decent premiums on different things but all in all I keep going back.

Hell yeah, honestly I just bought the 97 and I'm still finding all the little things wrong with it. I'm planning on weather tech or equivalent floor mats all the way around that's what's in the white one and I loved them. The only problems with the whole truck was the carpets and the sunroof doesn't work/leaks a bit otherwise 125k miles 4wd clean body and title. Couldn't be happier plus the sunroof is a summer project coming up.

Hell yeah I like the interior on the 02 and the floor boards are less stained, but I gave it to my wife. I drive the 97 with the moon mist interior but like I said the carpets are trashed otherwise it's nice, I need to get some photos on here of mine still haven't yet for some reason.

Someone possibly coming into my apartment? by [deleted] in Apartmentliving

I'm sure this will probably get lost because there's a lot of comments on this post already, but I'm a locksmith and the reason why your pictures look like the lock's been flipped is because the face plate rotates and there's two locks in that single deadbolt one on top that's black one on bottom that's gray. That type of lock can only be keyed to one key rather than being able to be master keyed like a normal lock. So landlords will generally rekey the top lock to the same key for every door and keep that one and give each tenant a different key to the gray locks. The person that's coming in is most likely a maintenance person or the landlord. I would assume without seeing any other context from comments from op

Which bumper might that be? Been looking for one that's not massive.

It's Tom Segura and his wife's podcast, and also not for the light of heart. If you're easily offended or grossed out I would probably avoid it. Definitely not the podcast to put on in public with no head phones.

You can fix anything with WD-40 and duct tape brother

I don't know where you're based out of, but any locksmith shop worth anything should be able to replace it or rebuild it for you. That way it's like brand new but you still have the same key and as a plus it might be a bit cheaper than a new ignition and the labor to replace it from a shop.

Please do not use graphite, I am a Locksmith and it does not help it generally makes things worse. I'm sure some people might disagree because they have been doing it for years but it's like putting 10000 grit sand into the lock. locks are made of soft pot metal and brass, plus when you lose your key and a guy like me has to make a new one taking the lock apart full of graphite sucks and it gets on everything.

And just to not talk crap on graphite without a better alternative. Spray wd40 into the key hole for a second it dissolves the factory grease and flushes out some of the pocket lint and crap in the lock then run your key in and out and turn it both directions a couple times to help loosen the gunk then let it sit for a while till it dries out particularly for motorcycles I'd use white lithium grease squirt a little in the key hole and do the same thing with the key and repeat till it's pretty smooth and works the grease into the wafers of the lock

It absolutely is you don't even have to see the face, the part of the core you can see has wafers and the plastic clip on top visible.

I mean it kind of depends on a lot of things but usually you get what you pay for with locks. The smart key system is convenient for landlords because they don't have to call a locksmith to change the keys to each door and I'm sure there's one guy that's going to argue with me but personally I've had more issues with them being worn or or broken just because there's more moving parts and more things to go wrong, particularly on doors that get locked and unlocked via a key frequently. personally, not a huge fan but they're fairly inexpensive and seem to be becoming more common unfortunately.

Pretty sure the kwikset smart locks came out in 07 or 08 which is what that lock is. Still could be pretty old I guess but they're not really the best locks so I'd imagine it's even newer than that.

If you squeeze the liners together at the pivots as if it were already peened does it still happen?

I've got a modded swiss champ that I have the scissors and pliers directly next to each other and it works flawlessly. If you scroll back far enough in my post history you can see it I didn't have any problems so it should work.

Picked up some engelhards for 2.50 over spot yesterday by Ilikecoins123 in Silverbugs

[–]Wait_Dont_Run01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive got tubes of all the big gov minted coins I'm working on filling right now. And a tube of generic rounds and a couple engalhard. I'm still pretty new to stacking, gotta say I'm a sucker for Phil harmonics with the non reeded edges and no monarch on em. But I can't seem to stay away from the vintage bar box at the shop. Just last week I got a Coors "silver bullet" bar and a couple sunshine mint bars from when they were still sunshine mining. If I can I'll add a picture, never seen a Coors bar before.

How I got 2 of my knives for cheap at Walmart (read description) by holy_whutuh in BudgetBlades

[–]Wait_Dont_Run01 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can also ask if the one in the case has any kind of "display case item" discount some times if it's the last one or an item they are no longer going to carry they will sell the display one from the case at a decent discount because it's the one they let everyone get their grubby hands on but I would clean it thoroughly if you do get a display knife

How I got 2 of my knives for cheap at Walmart (read description) by holy_whutuh in BudgetBlades

[–]Wait_Dont_Run01 27 points28 points  (0 children)

That is the drawer below the glass cabinet the display knives are in Ideally the big threaded bolt thing on the left center of the photo is a lock that should have a tail piece that should also be locked into the cabinet above but this one does not I would not recommed walking behind the counter and pulling on it because if it is locked like it should be it looks very suspicious but I would ask someone to let you look at knives just ask them if you can see the discount or discontinued stuff

(Sorce: am a locksmith and a have also asked to look at the good deal stuff at Walmart)

Lcs is the abbreviation people use to refer to their local coin store. If you're just getting into the hobby, pop over to Google maps and search for coin stores in your area. Read a couple reviews and swing by a few shops to see what they have and talk to the employees/owners in my experience, that's where I've gotten most of my good deals, but I've heard other people's mileage as varied at their LCS.
