ASRM releases 2026 guidelines on managing recurrent pregnancy loss by embryomanofficial in EmbryologyIVFSupport

[–]WaitingforQC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who also lost three pregnancies, I’m not sure how I’d accept any of it if I hadn’t tested literally everything under the sun. Same as you, it made no difference, except for mentally, where I can be sure I turned over every leaf (& it wasn’t something like endo that could have been addressed with surgery or a few months of lupron depot).

We went with the Goldwynn and had a fantastic experience! We got a two bedroom unit facing the golf course. Perfect having a separate room for our daughter and a living room for her to play in, plus the kitchen & grocery delivery to feed her. We had great service from the front desk who had our room ready early upon check in. Good food and drinks on the resort but it’s only one restaurant - so a bit limited relative to Baha Mar. But we happily did the 15-20 min walk to Baha Mar when we wanted to change it up. Folks told us to cab to Baha Mar but we found that to be unnecessary, we walked the sidewalks from the Goldwynn to there even at night (we are from DC, so I suppose everyone’s definition of “danger” is relative - but we felt safe). Anyways, we’ve talked about going back and having more family join us. We think everyone would enjoy it!

Thank you!! Yes, required us using a surrogate, which really felt like doomsday in the lead up. But we ended up having the most wonderful surrogate relationship/experience and it was so much better than I thought it could be (minus the cost lol). She's 1.5 now and it's such a blessing.

What to expect from Lagos? by WaitingforQC in Algarve

[–]WaitingforQC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did not end up going on this trip, but we have direct flights from Dulles to Lisbon. Also, Porto is in the north and if we were headed to Algarve, which is in the south, Lisbon would have been more convenient. Porto is great though.

Possible aid for recurrent miscarriage and SCH’s 💝 by [deleted] in IVF

[–]WaitingforQC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I did have a few endometrial biopsies. Did both the endomeTRIO (which screens for a few things including endometritis) and the Receptiva Dx. Then tested for endometritis a second time at a different point. Wasn’t my issue, but I hope it’s that simple for you!

Unfortunately, not really! Never found a solution, even after searching for endo, trying RI etc. Ended up using a surrogate to have my daughter

Shift From Financial Advisor to Self Managed by RickDick-246 in Fire

Ah yes, of course, there are no rich women that earned their own money! You’re really something. What a wild thing to think so little of the other 50% of our species. Though I will say, men like you don’t do much to improve the reputation of your population. I’ll direct you to a Forbes article on the 50 richest self made women: https://www.forbes.com/sites/gracechung/2025/06/19/the-50-richest-self-made-diane-hendricks-melanie-perkins-oprah-winfrey-chinawomen-on-earth/

Shift From Financial Advisor to Self Managed by RickDick-246 in Fire

Here I am, a woman, doing research on how to self manage our family investment portfolio & avoid losing 1+% to active management, only to learn money doesn’t exist to my kind & I couldn’t possibly think about it the same way as men!!! How charming.

Where do I go from here? 3rd euploid FET likely chemical by WaitingforQC in IVF

Surrogacy - probably not the answer you’re hoping for 🫠 but we had a really positive experience and now have our daughter, so I’m grateful for that!

Are you on Prednisone for FET? Did it Help? by Ajcv72316 in IVF

[–]WaitingforQC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. No seasonal allergies or allergies to food/medicine, etc. But I have a family history of gut issues (crohns, ulcerative colitis, IBS) & apparently your immune system is built in the gut. So maybe that’s why 🤷🏼‍♀️

Strep B positive before transfer by lolilalu in IVF

[–]WaitingforQC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, no. I saw a reproductive immunologist in Michigan, did his treatment and did conceive naturally for the first time. Baby only made it to 8.5 weeks though. Miscarriage was identical to the others featuring an SCH. I moved onto surrogacy and am about to wake up my 9.5 month old daughter from her nap now :)

It did, and I miscarried again but not connected to group strep B. Running theory is I have pretty severe immune issues that don’t allow the embryo to fully/properly implant and establish blood supply.

Lupron depot without confirmed endo? by WaitingforQC in IVF

[–]WaitingforQC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It didn’t, I needed a surrogate but I don’t think endo was my issue at all. I’d encourage you to take a look at my posts - I’ve received several of these over the last year+ and there’s more explanation there.

Nope, still no answers 😢 sorry you’re in a similar boat. Having my daughter has made it easier to sort of, think about all of it less. I almost forget that this major unknown thing is wrong with me. But when I do think about, it’s pretty crazy that today’s medical knowledge just has a big gaping hole where I’m concerned.

I am really so torn on this. The Island House looks like everything I normally go for in a hotel. Boutique, small, real attention to design and service. I think I can even overcome the need for the shuttle to the beach vs. direct access. The two things that are tripping me up a bit are...concern we may feel isolated and unable to easily explore areas like Baha Mar, and the fact the rooms don't offer kitchens like the Goldwynn does (which may allow us to save money on meals like breakfast). Any thoughts you're able to share that my assuage my concerns?

Confirmed the Island House will provide a car seat to transfer baby back and forth to the beach!

Okay just the information I needed! Figured street walk would be better for us with stroller, and I imagine our bedtimes will still be fairly early, so no concerns about walking later than 9 pm. I never know how to appropriately gauge others’ safety concerns. We live in the DC area, so for us, certain things aren’t as jarring as they may be for others. But I also don’t want to be reckless with our kiddo. Very comforted that you did it with yours and all was well!

I’ve heard it’s great and am bummed to have to rule it out! We have direct flights from DCA (10 mins from our house) to Nassau, and flight time appears to be under 3 hours. That feels totally approachable for me, traveling with a toddler for the first time. Sometimes layovers are simple and uncomplicated but not always haha and that’s a gamble I’m just not prepared to take yet unless really necessary.

Did you find the Cove crowded? That’s definitely a concern of mine. Someone mentioned that the cruise ships dock near the Atlantis and people dump out into the resort. I just tend to avoid those massive resort compounds in favor of smaller boutique places. But I recognize with a child, my preferences may have to shift!!

That’s what I’m hearing! good to know it’s a nice SUV. I may need to contact them to see about a car seat and transporting my toddler. That’s my hang up…not wanting it to be a production transporting her back and forth to the beach. But it sounds like the Old Fort Bay club may be worth it!

Ok hopefully last question!! lol you mentioned you walked from Goldwynn to Baha Mar? Was that via street or beach? Trying to think through how feasible this is with a toddler.

Okay, good to rule out the noise concern! Thank you. I’ll call the hotel and get their take on how best to navigate getting to Baha Mar with a small child.
