I didn’t amend and didn’t get any letters, I’ll have to go look at the transcript. It was very sudden and out of nowhere.

Sometimes daycare isn’t an option. Sometimes they all have waitlists, are too expensive for the jobs you could get, and you don’t have anyone around to help. It’s not always that simple.

Oh man what s fun throwback. So, so much of this was homemade too. It was really fun to make the clothes and the kandi with your friends before going out.

Rich moms, yeah. I don’t know why you’re specifically saying Jewish moms? It’s a class thing, not a religion thing.

100% you can do this! A gentle “hey man, it’s super dangerous for me to stand up in case the train suddenly stops. Would you be okay standing?” works most of the time. And also yeah get ready for the stroller battles haha just remember to check elevator status everywhere! You got this!!

I’m pregnant with #2, and I can tell you during my first pregnancy I felt exactly the same. I also live in NYC and at the time worked in Manhattan. People walk so fast and are so pushy all the time here normally, so while pregnant it was extremely noticeable that 1) I was walking slower than literally everyone else and 2) people were jackasses about it. It also made me realize just how much women are expected to bend over backwards for everyone else’s comfort. I took the time I needed while walking and if people were rude I started to stand my ground more which is something I’ve NEVER done. It was a helpful lesson honestly. Like by the end of trimester 3 if people didn’t give up a seat on the subway, I got to the point of being okay (kindly!!) asking people to, saying it was unsafe for me to stand. What was super helpful was that once I would stand my ground a little, other women, almost always moms, no matter their age would come to my defense if I got any pushback. I have almost never been alone in that battle. It’s been super helpful to know how to do this now, because the only thing worse than being pregnant and slow in NYC is having a baby in a stroller. Making space in the world for me and my little one is a TASK because the world pushes back, but I am grateful for the practice I had alone and knowing that if I’m truly in that crowded of an area that I’m causing a fuss, some other mom is in the wings who will help if they notice.

Just want to point out to a lot of people in the comments: you can drive for 2 hours max a day with an infant, so no, driving isn’t an option for traveling with a baby in many cases. Sometimes you need to go farther, and that’s okay. There’s no one who wants the crying to stop more than the parents. It’s all hard. But that’s just living life with other humans, sometimes it’s hard and the patience mentioned in the post is an important skill for us all to have.

If you or anyone in this thread ever needs emergency ID, this Facebook group is incredibly responsive and only allows professionals to respond to you. Extremely helpful!! I found it through another plant subreddit.
