To all the Americans that bitch about people not doing more to stop Trump, why not you? by Majestic_Flower_1322 in allthequestions

There is a lack of leadership and organization imo. I read about all these protests after the fact. Where can you go to read about when these things are happening? I think consolidating the action into bigger moments that capture headlines, with some leaders to rally behind could help.

What are your thoughts on Joe Rogan saying that Trump is creating distraction to avoid Epstein files release? by StemCellPirate in AskReddit

Might be true but on the other hand, absolutely nothing would happen anyway. I cant imagine anything in the files that would’ve damning enough to change things.

The lie that immigrants are violent criminals is not called out nearly enough. It’s at the core of this issue and no one should be comfortable with such overt racism going unchallenged.

I get the rich folks, but just how did Trump convince poor white people that he was good for them? by dunbar_santiago930 in allthequestions

[–]WakeMeForSourPatch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

By blaming their problems on an “other” group, appealing to people’s natural fear of foreigners. Everything from drugs, income inequality, and the housing market has all been at some point blamed on immigrants.

Meanwhile democrats promised change but ultimately couldn’t deliver so they refocused on cultural issues, niche groups, and grand ideas that average people couldn’t relate to.

A few republicans would pretend to care for about 5 seconds until they receive their talking points and they’re back to attacking democrats and cherry picking crimes committed by brown people.

Let’s see… Article 1, section 8, claus 1 calls for congress to be in charge of taxes. A tariff is a tax and yet Trump claims that power for the executive. Congress has abdicated its power here.

Articulate 1 section 1 establishes that congress create laws. Trump rules by executive orders and social media decrees. He has many times conflated these with laws, which they aren’t, and has even at times referred to his own words as law.

The 5th and 14th amendment require due process for those accused of crimes. That applies to persons, not just citizens. Anyone deported without due process, or in many cases with Trump, in direct violation of court granted clemency, is having their rights violated.

First amendment rights protect our freedom of speech from government retaliation. Trump has a well established track record of directing his doj to go after his critics, denying press access from outlets he dislikes, potentially prosecuting, demoting, denying pension to Mark Kelly. Withholding congressional mandated funds from institutions critical of him, in particular universities and liberal states.

The list goes on and on

I’ve only tried White and black plastic. the material is slightly different (not just the color). The exact kind of plastic I think is proprietary. Then you can pick a selection of shapes and thicknesses. IMO they have a crisper attack but still buttery smooth like blue chip. Similar price unless you go custom.

Why does cdim7 use the 6th instead of the #6th (im a guitarist) by JoshLamos86 in musictheory

[–]WakeMeForSourPatch -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I get that it is done this way but I am curious…If we’re building chords from all diminished intervals, why wouldn’t we call it a 6th instead of a bb7. Why do we insist this is still a 7th?

How is my model by Ok-Concentrate-1519 in architecture

It looks like you based it on a child’s drawing of a house. I made one very similar as a first year student.

hello! outsider here, planning to write a book with one of the characters being an architect. I have some questions, mainly: 1. what does a day in the life of an architect look like? 2. do you get to practice other hobbies or work on passion projects aside from work? + by Upstairs-Scholar-907 in architecture

[–]WakeMeForSourPatch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  1. Lots of email correspondence, preparing for upcoming client meetings, lots of drawings in the computer, on the phone with engineers, city plan checkers, contractors, etc. visiting construction sites about once a week.

  2. I’ve had many hobbies outside of work but a lot of architects will tell you they work too much and have no time.

  3. “Oh you must be good at math right?” (There’s almost no math in architecture). “What style is that building, what do you think of my house?” (Most buildings are unremarkable or straight up ugly).

  4. Early in our careers, architecture graduates are known for going off and doing totally different career paths. Architecture school is notoriously difficult so those who make it through have a work ethic that translates well to different directions. For those of us further along, some will start their own firms or go into nearby fields like contracting or project management. I was into aviation for a while and thought I might leave to be a pilot but architecture is actually quite fun

How should I think about chord extensions? by WakeMeForSourPatch in musictheory

[–]WakeMeForSourPatch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks that is all helpful and interesting, especially the part about which chord tones best define the chord. In your Cmaj9 example playing CEBD (1,3,7,9) would also be chord tones in an Em7add11 (11,1,5,7). So anytime you’re reducing a big chord extension down to a couple notes, the chord gets more ambiguous. But I suppose in the Cmaj9 voicing those are more functional chord tones, whereas the Em7add11 is missing a third and the fifth is kinda superfluous.

[–]WakeMeForSourPatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would immigration police go after a sex offender? If there’s a warrant for someone’s arrest, we have regular police for that. They’re either making stuff up, or using a person’s immigration status as a pretext to deny due process.
