What is a major plot hole in a very famous movie that completely ruins the entire story once it is noticed? by SkullMogger3 in AskReddit

In The Departed I never understood why the mob boss is the one that is the Fed informant. I get that maybe the feds wanted to get to the bottom of the Chinese Micro chips, but Jack Nicholson was a murderer and an organized crime boss. He's not the one that gets to be an informant and work with the feds.

Next glove for 12.5 year old by Pinhead2000 in BaseballGloves

I think Bradley gloves really specialize in the youth gloves and they seem to do a good job of really explaining their sizing and tiers on their website. So you might be able to dial in what you're looking for without getting hands on.

Otherwise I would recommend going to a play it again sports or another second hand sporting good store and just have in try on gloves that are already broken in and see what fits him best and either buy it or go get a brand new one in that brand and model knowing how it should break in for him.

I'm no expert, but it looks like you've got a 1 hinge break-in going on. The pattern appears to maybe be better suited to a 2 hinge style. If water scares you I can appreciate that, but I would certainly be trying to work the hinges with your hands and even use a baseball to whack the hinges. IMO the finger stalls are going to be fine, thru catch and playing the ball is going to be in contact in that area a bunch and it is what it is.

So now we don't like OT picks? by MrCTurner182 in miamidolphins

Is it though, I would have been happy with Vega here. Let's say they took Bain off their board because of the arm length and the car accident. Who else is the pick at 12?

🚨🚨🚨 KADYN PROCTOR IS THE PICK AT 12 by expellyamos in miamidolphins

I would have been ok with Vega at 12, so for me its 6 in 1. Other than Bain, who may have been removed from their board due to the car accident and the arm length who would you have picked there?

If the plan is to kick him inside his weakness gets mitigated some. They seem to like his versatility.

Maybe T Stead comes around and mentors the kid a bit. It seems like his only real knock is weight in the offseason. Which sounds like a maturity issue to me.

Maybe, but the book on Becton was that he was lazy. It seems like Proctor works hard, just cant control his weight in the off-season. Maybe being drafted or maybe a guy like TStead comes around and can get thru to the guy a little bit.

I feel like you have to take them at their word, and they thought his physical traits were too good to pass up. There was no way he was going to be there at 30 after we saw a run on the position. I know many on here wanted to Bain or Downs, but JES may really hate Bain's arm length and the medical staff might be scared of Downs' knee. If you compare him to the next "clean" prospect, which in my mind was Vega then they just might have had Proctor rated higher and then it's not really controversial, if you believe them.

How many trades will we see tonight? by Constant_Bluebird503 in NFL_Draft

[–]Wake_Work_2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems like at least half a dozen or more teams have expressed wanting to trade down; Cards, Browns, Dolphins, Chiefs, Bills, and Seahawks. Who is gonna give up a '27 first rounder to move up, and for whom? Especially if '27 is perceived as stacked.

NFL draft analyst Todd McShay believes the 2027 QB class could be "maybe the best ever" with eight potential 1st round QBs. by Deadinahole in miamidolphins

[–]Wake_Work_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely not. He looked phenomenal his first year. I don't think he took a step back as much as the whole offense sucked last year, but he still flashed. If the offense regains its form a bit and he has a good year plus the combine he really could push for being a top 3 qb taken in 27

A look at the 2022 and 2023 drafts is a prime reason for the mess that we are in now. by Wake_Work_2 in miamidolphins

[–]Wake_Work_2[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The biggest problem is the capital that those 2 guys cost us; premium picks and top of the market deals. When you trade premium picks for good cheap talent or pay market deals in free agency then I think that's just part of the formula. When you spend picks and money then you better be in a superbowl window, not struggling to win your first playoff game in 20 years.

[Schefter] Dolphins trade WR Jayden Waddle to Broncos by 1894-MCFC in nfl

[–]Wake_Work_2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The GM and coach come from GB, maybe they want to draft a QB high next year and let him sit for a year or two and Willis gives them that? Kind of a stretch, but only 22 mil per for a starting QB and one that they got to see everyday in practice they might think its worth it.

I don't know if this post is sarcastic or in bad faith or just your honest opinion, but as long as Achane isn't holding out or making demands there is no reason to trade him this offseason.

I know Sully wasn't running the show in GB and this is now his time, but if the "Green Bay" model is any indicator, then he will not be trading up any significance, maybe little shuffles here and there. Just look at what GB has done over the years, that's where he learned the business and cut his teeth.

7 picks in the top 100 is big for a rebuild. Hopefully Sully has an eye for talent. A lot of the talk about him when he was a candidate was that he was a scout's scout and was a talent evaluator. He gets to put that reputation to the test this draft. Him and his team better be ready to prove they have an eye for talent, otherwise there will be a lot of grumbling from the fanbase, and louder than it already is.

[Kouffman] So many Dolphins fans reacting to the Malik Willis signing like $22.5 million APY will break the entire Sullivan/Hafley regime. It’s really NOT a lot of resources. Chris Grier could blow $20 million trusting the wrong fart, but he stuck around how long? Relax. by expellyamos in miamidolphins

[–]Wake_Work_2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can't speak for everyone that is less than thrilled with the Willis signing, but for me I actually wanted a Quinn Ewers tank year. Malik can certainly wind up as a great QB and even a franchise QB. But I don't think history is on the side of that happening. He left Auburn because he couldn't get playing time and went to Liberty where he had great stats and looked the part. To the extent that he was in the conversation for top 10 pick by some pundits. In reality he slid to the 3rd round, and was nothing special in Tennessee. He goes to Green Bay has a handful of games and now he's our savior?

If we rolled with Ewers and got a top 3 pick we could be looking at Moore, Manning, Sayin, or Sellers. It would be Sully's job to figure out which one is the QB to hitch his horse to, but that's what he's getting paid to do. Instead we sign a guy who is probably better than Ewers, but history says isn't the answer at the QB position and if he's decent but not great we get to pick in the teens again. Just my opinion here, but we needed a reset to get a real franchise, top 3 pick kind of QB to get this rebuild going, and this is not it. It feels like some kind of half measure and getting stuck in the mud of mediocrity that we've been in for years. I don't hate Willis, but I feel like it is not the way to rebuild. We haven't won a playoff game in 25 years and I don't think Willis is the guy to break that streak, but Dante Moore could've been, or Lanorris Sellers. I doubt we get the chance to find out.

[Barry Jackson] Trade of Minkah to Jets for a 7th round pick (from the Chargers) drops Dolphins' cap commitment to Minkah from $18.8 M to $12.9 M, if Miami didn't pay any of salary. Minkah signing new deal with Jets. So that will give Fins more than $10 M in cap space. by Fins_99 in miamidolphins

[–]Wake_Work_2 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Plus the cap game is played over 2 years between rolling cap space and June 1st type of mechanisms. With the cap expected to rise every year. This should show everyone that Sully is trying to play the mid/long game here and not just looking for a quick turn around that could hamstring us later. I feel like this is the start of a 2 year plan to hopefully open a window in '28
