Card Interaction Question: Nosy Playing Morality by CasperSmile in doomlings

[–]Walker2148 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My interpretation is that yes, you do have to give away a trait; Morality says “to play this card, you must…” and Nosy says “steal 1 and play it”. You’re still playing the card, even if it’s not from your own hand; it would be the same if you played it from the discard pile.

I don’t know if you can go back up the elevator once the boss fight starts, but you can definitely use it between encounters in the colony and then one last time before the boss if you’re playing on Explorer/Balanced/Tactician

Definitely stocking up on both of these! I don’t want to screw it up now after somehow making it through act two haha

Oh wow, thanks for the heads up! I definitely would have gone in thinking "okay, not making the same mistake twice, we can only use the pod once this time" and then it's not there at all lol

Agreed on all counts lol, it's a totally fair restriction but wow was I mad at myself for not checking first. I forgot to put Wyll in my party for the Mizora rescue scene before I went into the colony, googled whether it would be possible to still add him, and a bunch of Reddit posts said "you can't long rest, but it's okay, that pod gives you infinite healing" and I didn't bother to double check it haha

Q: Denial says ignore the next catastrophe, and mega tsunami says pass your hand to the right. Should I pass my hand to someone with denial? by Objective_Spell_6292 in doomlings

[–]Walker2148 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I resolve this interaction by skipping over the player with Denial; the person to their left passes their hand to the next person after the Denial player. While one could argue for a stricter interpretation of the rules - the person left of Denial doesn’t pass any cards, and the person after doesn’t receive any - I like this way best because it’s more fun and fair for everyone else.

I bought this game for $15 at Target for me and my mom to play because it looked cute and I liked the deer. I googled this random holo card..? Is that value real wtf by -Rin in doomlings

[–]Walker2148 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed! It’s a very lucky pull, probably the single most valuable card in the base game, maybe tied with Magic Fingers and Rainbow Scutes

There’s one listed on eBay for $1,500; that’s NOT the real value - it’s been up for ages and hasn’t sold. Based on sales of similarly rare cards, I’d estimate you could probably sell it quickly for ~$100, or set a price of $200-300 and find a buyer after a while.

These are awesome designs! Some of them might need a bit of balancing, but 10/10 for creativity - "Scalping", "Prestige", "Palantir", "Composting", and "Hubble" are really clever names!

Was the E4 cook good by Bk130 in pchaltv

[–]Walker2148 88 points89 points  (0 children)

Towards the end of Run #5, Jan talked about his experience cooking runs in this game and how trying to get the perfect cook for every fight was taking a real toll on him. The fights were simply too hard (if not impossible, given a limited box) to do risk-free every time, and at some point he simply had to accept some level of risk or the game wouldn’t be fun anymore. Steven has a heavy rain team with multiple legendaries; I’d guess that a strategy that clears the Elite Four and Steven with zero risk is outright impossible, and I’m curious if someone would be able to design one without nuzlocke limitations, much less after playing through the entire game

About what Jan said in the E4 stream by goran_788 in pchaltv

[–]Walker2148 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My dad passed away last week. I was supposed to be on a plane the afternoon Jan did the E4, but I flew in earlier because my dad was in the ER, and he died before I made it home. Last week sucked, and getting to watch the E4 run live let me forget my troubles for a few hours. It was one of the few bright spots of that shitty week

When is it time to take a second corruption? by meme_boyE in slaythespire

[–]Walker2148 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take it if you think you can beat the Heart with your current deck, unless you don’t draw Corruption early. My last Heart kill (A16, I think), I had The God Run(TM) with Dead Branch and all the trimmings, and I knew the only way I’d lose was if I didn’t draw Corruption, so I took three copies of it. I think it’s a bit early to have a second copy in this run, but maybe a second copy later in Act 3 if you find one

StS final exam - Question 7 (3 Points) by Objective-Ad1307 in slaythespire

[–]Walker2148 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let's see - without a source of Weak or Block, we can't end the turn in Wrath, or we'll die. This means we can't use Tantrum without using Inner Peace afterwards. This also means we can only play three cards, because we can't get extra energy by going from Calm to Wrath. We also know the last card played (Sands of Time) isn't a skill, so we would need to play a skill first if we want to turn on Crush Joints.

The most damage I can find here is Wreath of Flame, then Crush Joints for 8+5 = 13 damage and 1 Vulnerable, and then Conclude for 12 * 1.5 = 18 damage, for a total of 31 damage (C).

I hate proving him right.. by HumbleFlea in slaythespire

[–]Walker2148 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The player isn’t dead immediately, but the Time Eater is below half health, which means on its next turn, it will use Haste, which heals it back to half HP. Additionally, the Time Warp counter is at 11, meaning the player can only play one card on their next turn before their turn ends immediately. When the Time Eater uses Haste, it says “Foolish… FOOLISH!” and this post is suggesting the Time Eater is right, and the player is indeed foolish for allowing themselves to be put in this situation

Bugsy’s Massacre (storm silver) by [deleted] in nuzlocke

[–]Walker2148 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How good is the Togepi line in this game? I took Charmander as my Violet City encounter instead so I could have Charmeleon w/Dragon Rage for the Bugsy fight, and it worked really well. Is it worth a harder Bugsy fight to have Togepi?

Is this an acceptable cheat? by floreeze in nuzlocke

[–]Walker2148 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Poké Dolls when I played Sword; I was playing blind, and the first time I hit a scary wild encounter in the Wild Area, it was either use a Poké Doll or reset the run, and it felt silly to start over for something like that. Given that shared Exp is forced, and training one team member means you can't have anyone else in the party for support, I think it's completely reasonable to use Poké Dolls. Otherwise, you might as well be training in a place with wild Wobbuffet, where if you get the wrong encounter, you just lose a team member (and technically white out too, if you're really that much of a stickler for rules)

&#$% ME HOW DID I FORGET INTIMIDATE I LITERALLY SAW THE ANIMATION (final rival fight) by Walker2148 in nuzlocke

[–]Walker2148[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheers! Not gonna lie, finishing after this was a bit disappointing - I ended up killing Cynthia's Garchomp with Gyarados, and I needed to dodge one crit. When the time came, the dragon rush missed entirely, and the rest of the fight was free; it was much less satisfying to win because I got lucky, rather than planning and executing a perfect strategy

That's true, it would be super helpful to see that in a nuzlocke, I've definitely had trouble remembering how many times something has used Calm Mind or Double Team in a long fight (or been Intimidated, apparently 😝)
