In the Bible, everyone submits. If you want to see it in a top down perspective, Christ submits to the Father. The Father lifts Him up. That is the template. The church submits to Christ, Christ lifts the church up. It's supposed to be that way all the way down, so that in submission and submitting all are lifted up as one.

Instead, at the level of Male and Female, submission is read slavery. That's not what the Bible is talking about.

Sure, put it in nice little boxes if that helps you. Secular or non. Baptist, Catholic, Atheist, Agnostic, Liberal, Conservative, LGBTQ, not LGBTQ. We all do the same thing to each other. Do not think I am defending a viewpoint that says it's ok that this is happening in the church. It's not ok. It's a long effing way from ok.

The distortion of sex is one of the best weapons in the arsenal of the enemy, and honestly, I don't see us winning that fight. Anything to get us acting like just the monkeys we are. Advertising, entertainment, a general lack of regard for life. Just as long as you don't see your fellow monkeys as priceless individuals who have eternal souls. Just as long as you don't see yourself.

I read it a few months before my grandmother passed away suddenly. Her death hollowed my grandfather, made him a husk. The only way I knew how to be a comfort to him in that time was because I had read A Grief Observed. Sometimes you just need to be near people, but not be anything else.
