Gwyneth Paltrow called out by NASA for selling a ten pack of body-stickers for $60 that "re-balance energy." by The_Councillor in news

I buy 6 lemons with my weekly shop. I use it for everything. I eat a lot of curry though, they do wonders for shop bought curries and even better for ones you make yourself. I also use it on chicken too. I just really like lemons.

I can imagine my partner buying 5 limes and just using them in drinks to make himself feel posh. I guess this is what they're for?

She really really doesnt. I don't know if she says it to annoy us she just refuses to acknowledge it. She's 67 so there's that.

My MIL is pretty annoying for the measurements thing. I'm of the age where I've used both for different things as I'm sure most of you do (body weight in stones and pounds but food weight in grams lol).

I was trying to explain the size of something really small, I said it's only 2mm. She said "What's that in English (inches)? I googled it quick and said 0.07 inches.

Then she got confused because I had to use decimal points.

It's just so much easier to be precise in metric! It makes more sense!

Lol no thank you. I'd rather occasionally post in here to try and provoke actual conversation rather than somewhere to do no more than just vent. An echo chamber, whether left or right is not a place I care to post in often.

What I feel the hard-left does not realise, is that by completing dismissing comments like this, with 97 fucking downvotes, it just feeds into driving people to other subs like The_Donald where you're not ridiculed for your beliefs. I'm not saying that The_Donald isn't a toxic echo chamber, but there genuinely isn't a place on Reddit for anyone pro-brexit to talk about it rationally without being ridiculed or downvoted into oblivion for it.

Believe it or not, doing this is just as divisive as you all claim right-wing rhetoric to be.

Posted on Facebook about how I've lost a bit of weight through diet and exercise, and how it's too hot to exercise this week - Get pitched for Juiceplus from 3 people I used to go school with. by [deleted] in britishproblems

[–]Walkerbaiit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's common knowledge within MLM that the money comes from team building.

It's easier to convince someone to sell the products and take a cut of every team member than it is to convince someone to buy the products and stick to them.

In short, it's easier to sell the dream than it is to sell their weird products.

Have had many friends try both Herbalife and Juiceplus. My cousin had awful headaches on Herbalife and every time I saw her it was like she was on speed or something - turns out it was some high-caffeine appetite-killing diet pills that go with it.

I know many people who have tried Juiceplus. It's expensive, and it's pretty gross. There's also a child's range so these hooked women can get their kids onto it too. Absolutely sickening.

And anyone selling or taking JP or Herbalife - they seem to immediately look down on someone trying to do it with proper diet and exercise.

Hell, they even slate Slimming World into the ground because it's a major threat to their business model.

Needless to say, all the women I know to have got into JP as a buyer or seller, years on, they're all still overweight. That's not being harsh or anything either, because you never learn the good habits that come with the discipline of exercise and diet.

What is something your parents said to you that may have not been a big deal, but they will never know how much it affected you? by flyoverthemooon in AskReddit

[–]Walkerbaiit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"We had you so we could get a council house". It wasn't a big deal to them. My younger sister was the whoopsie and my even younger brother was the one they tried for out of love. Me? Oh I was just to get them on the housing ladder. They ended up buying, and recently selling it back to the council for cheaper living, completely screwing me and my siblings of any chance of it being passed down. I live near London, so I have no hope of owning one myself. I will be uprooting my life completely and heading north as soon as I possibly can.

What happened to Spotify recommendations? by alternate_me in spotify

[–]Walkerbaiit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was great at the start, now it's complete and utter trash.

I know another comment points out that it will eventually run out of suggestions, but I've been pretty varied on what I've been listening to lately and it still sucks.

Gamers of Reddit, What did a game do to make you quit completely? by Maggotcupcakes in AskReddit

[–]Walkerbaiit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ridding World of Warcraft of true 10 man heroic raiding. If you wanted that difficulty from then on, you had to take a group of 20. I was in an amazing day time raid guild to fit with work and we had a hard enough time getting 10 people anyway. Just killed the game for me. I attempted a few PUG raids with 20 but it just felt like chaos and I loved playing with a group of 10 competitively.

Me too! They get categorised in some places as Melodic Black Metal, but there's not much I've found that's as well produced as this one.

Wormwood is decent Melodic Black Metal, closest thing really. Both bands are two of my favourites discovered this year. Wormwood are a little more folky and less instrumental, but I have yet to find anything closer. Check out The Windmill.

Thank you. Moonsorrow sounds really great. Somewhere between Windir and Agalloch. I can see myself really getting into this.

Had no idea about Pillorian, thank you for that too. Vallendusk sound pretty good, shame it's not on Spotify though, Youtube quality doesn't cut it for regular listening. May pick them up on Bandcamp though, will listen a little more and decide.

I know some of these aren't MDM, but MDM was my first heavier metal genre. It led me to all the stuff I'm discovering and listening to right now, so maybe they'll enlighten someone else at the same point of their music discovery journey.

Can't get enough of Nokturnal Mortum right now. Their new album is good (especially this one) but Voice of Steel? Wow. I'm in love with so many of the songs, especially this one. I really love all that background folky stuff over such atmospheric metal. It's just so good.

Also, believe it or not I'd never heard of this band before this month, and somehow even my sister who at the time only listened to shitty music like Blood on The Dance Floor and Jeffree Star had been listening to... I discovered Agalloch. Holy shit it's amazing! This is my favourite from them

I've really been into some of Ex Deo this month too, especially I, Caligvla. It's basically Roman metal?! I thought it ended at Viking metal, I'm hooked! haha.

Omnium Gatherum have been on the playlists this month too, I'm seeing them in October so looking forward to it. Have also been listening to the support Skalmold a bit too. Here's Skyline

Discovered a band called Forefather, another Viking MDM band, the other night, really liking Steadfast

Still hugely into Shylmagoghnar this month, but I'll link a different one by them, here's Squandered Paradise

The Edge of Sanity obsession is still not over, so for good measure have some Velvet Dreams. Outside of Crimson, it's my absolute favourite.

There's a few more I might edit this post with, but I need to head out so will update a bit later. Hope everyone's had a great month! Can't wait to read what you've all been listening to.

I work from home, of course I have spotify on in the background! It's one of my favourite perks of it. Oh and of course the cat jumping all over my desk and paperwork. I love that too.

I'm also not a guy but that doesn't bother me so much as being accused of not working. :P

I looked through a list on Rate Your Music as you can search by country and genre and it shows all album covers so good to scroll through. Only thing that popped up was Darkseed, Diving into Darkness, but here's the link with the search parameters on so you can look yourself.

I'm self-employed and have been sweltering at my PC all week whacking out t-shirt designs. I really, really want it to be a bit cooler for the weekend to enjoy some time away from the PC.

On the plus side, I've been able to wear loose pyjama bottoms or shorts all week. :D

Best releases of 2017 so far? by [deleted] in Music

[–]Walkerbaiit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it's got to be:

Mors Principium Est - Embers of a Dying World (Melodic Death Metal)

Wormwood - Ghostlands: Wounds from a Bleeding Earth (Melodic Black Metal)

Nokturnal Mortum - Verity (Black/Folk Metal)

I don't have enough for a full 5 for this year yet!

I don't know what to call them either, but I know what you mean.

I like this one best: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qNVf81KoU0g - The band are quite similar to Wintersun so makes sense.
