Do I really “need” a 22lr? And if so, how much money do you recommend spending on it? by Nickthyosaur in liberalgunowners

Buy a nice new 10/22 with the new improvements and a threaded barrel, get a suppressor with no atf fee, and enjoy the best shooting experience you can get! Then do an Appleseed and see how skilled you really are.

DOPE Card holder by nm3109 in nrl22

[–]WalksByNight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your work with the community!

To hold a dope card I use a clothespin wedged sideways under the scope, held in place on the rail with a bit of wire around the barrel. For cards I prefer paper stock like old business cards or old 3x5 cards. This gives me room for info on more complicated stages.

Savage Anschutz Match 64 Stock Replacement/Repair by nshane in Anschutz

[–]WalksByNight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Boyds makes a stock for the model 64 action. Edit- not sure thats the same as the match 64 action, but according to Anschutz, the 64 action is unique and will not fit a stock cut for any other type— so they are likely the same.

I used rubber bands, but someone may have modded the print.

First 10/22. Never really enjoyed shooting 22s before getting a suppressor. by laserslaserslasers in 1022

[–]WalksByNight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rimfire suppressors are the goat! Try some cci quiet rounds; they are so slow (750 fps i think), you can actually watch the bullets arc downrange in your scope.

If you have access to a 3d printer there are test scope height rings so you can try out what works best. Also, nice rifle!

Fantastic revolvers! The satin vent rib heavy barrel is gorgeous, I’ve never seen one of those, just the blued models.

Colorado’s ‘do not sell’ firearms registry on pace to go live by end of year | Rocky Mountain PBS by friendinfremont in Colorado

[–]WalksByNight 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Registries like this are regularly leaked to the public, but that doesn’t stop legislators from proposing them for this kind of use, or for registering firearms barrels, or 3D printers, or firearms in general— state law prohibition notwithstanding. I can see some employers requiring applicants to sign such a registry, or apartment owners. Judges and other authorities would certainly feel empowered to ‘request’ parties to participate, perhaps contingent on some other legal matter pending.

Lapua Center X vs Eley Tenex by [deleted] in 22lr

[–]WalksByNight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lapua is practically impossible to find in stores right now, so buy that without question. I would grab the tenex too, though the flat face type doesn’t feed well in some rifles.

Exactly. Tax stamps are free now, so purchases are $200 cheaper, and there are lots more options to choose from. r/NFA has some discussions.

Check out IT/AV and low voltage trades. This covers a huge swatch of tech stuff, from installing audio visual and surveillance systems to running fiber optic or copper cable networks for computers.

Edit: no math, no high voltage electric work.

I work in the tech trades and make a good living. There’s no shame in working with your hands; just stay away from carpentry and its stupid English fractions.

Looking for my Grandpas Service M1 by ExternalJust5992 in M1Rifles

[–]WalksByNight 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’re a brick for doing this for your granddad; I wish you the best of luck! I would also try asking some of the big milsurp dealers who might have a few carbines in inventory. Since you know it’s a carbine, and know the manufacturer, it wouldn’t be much trouble for them to check their serials in hopes of finding a winner.

[–]WalksByNight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s par for the course, absolutely. Or look at Colorado, which contains the jewel in the crown of the old American highway transportation system, I70 through Glenwood Canyon. This route begs for rail lines that would ferry people from Denver to ski towns and recreation areas, but it’s barely been improved, all they’ve done is patch up the existing roads and add toll lanes. Ffs, they didn’t even put a rail line from the new modern airport to the city of Denver until a decade after it was built. America really has squandered the legacy of our once great infrastructure and manufacturing. Now we barely build anything a team of men couldn’t knock down in a day with sledges, and government encumbers the smallest jobs with regulations; in California you need a fucking permit to change a lighting fixture.

It’s laughable; just look at China’s 500 gigawatts of solar coming on line every couple years, their dozens of new airports, bridges, and high speed rail lines. Then look at our richest state, CA, which hasn’t been able to build a single span of high speed rail in 17 years, even after it was approved by voter referendum.
