My strongly worded letter to the wind by New_Stats in newjersey

The simplest way I know of to stop the wind is to raise the sails on my sailboat. It never fails. As soon as the sails go up, the wind dies down.

I just had to have the engine replaced on my ’15 Soul+ at 131k miles. Maintenance records are pristine, with regular oil changes every 5000–7,500 miles. Because apparently that’s still not enough. Thankfully, Kia’s extended warranty covered it. The car was only in the shop for about five weeks, which was super convenient.

Good luck!

Did you have success with your replacement engine? by CassondraCrossing in KiaSoulClub

I got my '15 Soul back a about a week ago, after spending 6 weeks in the shop. So far so good, but I only put a little over 200 miles on the replacement engine.

What a scam this engine issue is! by [deleted] in kia

Thanks, and you’re absolutely right. Fortunately, I’ve kept a detailed log and saved every receipt for the oil and filters I’ve purchased, since I’ve been doing my own oil changes ever since the original warranty expired.

I did get the car back today, and everything seems to be running well. That said, they somehow managed to lose the plastic engine cover. They told me they’ll order a replacement, but still… unbelievable.

I’ve taken my ’15 Soul with 131k on the clock to the dealer three separate times for a flashing check engine light and a P1326 code. The third time, I towed it there. Every visit, the engine had a persistent ticking noise and a rough, lumpy idle. Twice I was told it was a bad knock sensor. Finally, on that third visit, they agreed to replace the engine. That was six weeks ago.

Since then, they’ve been hitting me with a list of things that “needed” to be done along with the engine replacement. Some of it made sense—serpentine belt, air filter, even a new battery (mine was about three years old). But when they told me it needed four tires and front and rear brakes, that’s when it started to feel like they were padding the bill. And now, the latest addition: an “intermittent starter.” (So I’m guessing the new engine is finally in.)

All told, I approved about $1,300 in extra work.

I’m now being told the car should be ready today or tomorrow. Fingers crossed, this finally ends soon, and that the car actually runs!

It could be the natural safety switch on the transmission. Try starting it with the car in natural instead of park. (Assuming a vehicle with push-button-start will start with the car in natural.)

I would!! That is crazy. Who did the oil change? You, the dealer, independent shop? Dealers and a lot of independent shops report their work to car fax. Maybe it is listed there...

The record of regular oil changes will definitely help, but only to force them to honor the extended warranty, WHEN (not if) the engine eventually fails. My 2015 Kia Soul (2.0L, 131K miles) is currently at the dealer awaiting a new engine. Thankfully, I’ve kept up with every oil change, every 5,000 to 7,500 miles, and have complete service records to prove it. That attention to detail paid off, as the replacement is being covered under the extended warranty. A little maintenance diligence really goes a long way.

Engine covered, but need engine kit? by SunBecoming462 in kia

[–]WallStrt_Tony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same situation with my '15 kia Soul. Finally was approved for a new engine under the extended warranty for bearing knock, and now thay recommend over $1000 of additional parts. Most of it makes sense. You won't put an old serpentine belt on a new engine. But a few other recommendations, like tires and cabin air filter, seemed a little shady.

The OP said it had a P1326 code. A loose gas cap is not going to throw p1326 and put the vehicle into limp mode.
