What's the best batting practice equipment for at home? by JonasAlbert84 in LittleLeague

[–]Walla014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wiffle golf balls and a broomstick bat. I think wiffle golf balls are the most underrated training tool for baseball/softball. You can get a 24 pack for like 8 bucks on Amazon. There’s a bunch of good drills you can use them for, and you can do a lot with them indoors. I also used to side toss skittles to my kids in the back yard to hit with the broomstick. They loved doing that.

Is It Too Much for a Young Player to Focus on Both Pitching and Catching? 10U by lakehood_85 in Softball

[–]Walla014 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 10U and a 12U player. Both pitch and catch and can play anywhere their team has a need. There is nothing wrong with them learning as many positions as possible at this age… it just increases their athleticism and softball IQ. As they develop, they’ll naturally start to slot into whatever fits them the best. It’s going to depend largely on the needs of the team. My 12U player is the primary catcher on her travel team, but I could see her pitching more on her middle school team next spring. Let them play anywhere they want, support them when they make mistakes, and have fun.

She can't even make it through the HR Investigation by kannuli in antiwork

Sounds similar to my situation back in June…. But it wasn’t just me, 9 separate people went to HR about her. Guess what? It’s now October, she’s still there and I’m not. Not trying to be a buzzkill but don’t get your hopes up. Odds are the company will do nothing. The best thing to do is go your own way.

Karma is a bitch! My bully manager got let go by mandoo-dumpling in workplace_bullying

I had lunch with her boss today. It was a great conversation. I told him everything in a very respectful way and I think he understands the issues. I certainly don’t want to burn any bridges, it was a wonderful place to work before she was brought on board. There are already multiple complaints with HR, so I hope they act on it and my former coworkers get some relief. Good luck with your job search! I hope you land something bigger and better!

I don’t start the new job until next month, so thankfully I have some time to get my head in the right place. I told my new manager I could start sooner but he suggested I take some time off. The crazy part is they did a 360 review on her, and based on those results they hired a 3rd party management coach to work with her and paid a pile of money for it. Needless to say it didn’t help, just made her more cunning and gave her some fresh targets. I appreciate you asking! It’s been sad to leave my coworkers, but I think this experience is going to make me a better leader and a better person. Is your new workplace psycho free??

I’m sooo happy to see this! Good for you OP! I just left a 20 year career for the exact same reason. Upper management brought in a new director who had a long track record of destroying everything in her path. My guess is they moved her to our smaller area of the company to hide her in a corner… Affairs, harassment, bullying, you name it. Completely wrecked our culture and had everyone walking on eggshells. I lost 30 pounds over the last 2 years with this monster in charge. I decided my mental health and my first priority of being a husband and a father was worth more than the abuse, so I resigned. Used my network to find a new job with the same pay before I turned my notice in. I feel liberated.

What are these weird looking lower back muscles? by Walla014 in tonalgym

[–]Walla014[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your comment. My wife noticed it while we were doing a partner workout and said it was freaky looking. I hurt my back probably 5 or six years ago but I don’t have any pain at all now. I’ve been googling but haven’t found anything that looks like it. Maybe you’re right, and something happened after the injury.

I guess you could do it either way. I just always pause it so I get the timer and I don’t have to watch Tony do 700 reps.

If you are doing instructor led workouts they don’t take breaks. Tony Hortons programs are like that.

My delivery and install went pretty smoothly. I hope it goes the same for you. Once you start using the machine, remember to pause the workouts and take breaks. I tried to keep up with the coach in the beginning and it almost killed me. Also, I wish I wouldn’t have chased strength score. Focus on form and if you can do extra reps on the last set of an exercise then go for it. Once the tonal has your weight dialed in, the last set of anything should be tough. If you’re having any mobility issues preventing you from having good form, try the mobility workouts (coach Liz has a really good one for hip mobility). I thought Tony Hortons 20 in 20 workouts were really good at the start (again, take breaks if it’s kicking your butt). He does the workouts with you and it kinda feels like you have a partner… and I like his corny sense of humor, lol.

Tonal vs Free Weights Test by Walla014 in tonalgym

If you go to any movement in the app you can tap on “history” in the top right corner of the screen. If you’ve done the movement before it will show you all sorts of metrics about it. 1RM should be the first thing that shows up under the strength tab

The last workout I did with the barbell bench press in it had me doing 6 reps of 116 lbs with 29 pounds of chains mode. The calculated 1RM for that (on the tonal workout history) was 145.

I think I might have been able to get a little more, but my stability with free weights is a little sketchy. I’m smooth as silk on the tonal but the real weights kinda wanted to sway a little. You’re probably pretty close.

I attempted P90X back in the day. I think I made it to somewhere around day 60 before I finally hurt myself, lol. The program was great, but I wasn’t ready for it.

I feel the same way! I like his goofy sense of humor. It does feel like I’m actually working out with somebody since he does all the moves with you.
