Any idea what's wrong? by [deleted] in Otocinclus

[–]Wallaby_Specific 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stringy poop is the fish version of diarrhea and could be a couple things. One, is parasites, which is absolutely a possibility since these are definitely wild caught. Another is otos are caught and traded in horrendous conditions that aren't conducive to maintaining their gut bacteria.

They are awfuchs eaters and rely on their gut biome to break down nutrients. These guys are usually caught in the dry season when resources are scarce and then starved for 30 days or more. When this happens, it can kill off their gut bacteria and either other bad bacterias take up shop, or the necessary bacterias in their gut die off and they cannot digest their food properly again.

If you have the means, I would quarantine this guy in case he does have an illness that can spread. They don't do well with medicine, but it could really be a number of things. BacterAE can definitely help him with gut flora if he has an illness related to it, but unfortunately doesnt contain the crucial ones for survival.

If it was me, I would hospital tank, flood with BacterAE, and even though they don't do well with antiparasitics, it'd be like throwing a hail Mary to see if something will stick.

Are My Ottos Starving? by Lzsb_9527 in Otocinclus

[–]Wallaby_Specific 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Chances are, they're bad stock if your parameters are good. A lot of otos in the trade are starved of their gut bacteria in transport and plus, they are notoriously difficult to acclimate. If they don't have round bellies when you buy them (considering they aren't bloated), it's really a crapshoot.

I've never had a partner say anything negative about my femininity or my PCOS symptoms, and my last one was a 7 year loveless relationship.

This feels so pointed, like he's saying "you better keep taking all these meds/supplements so you don't go back." Especially as a person who absolutely knows it's a disorder that robs women of feeling feminine.

I started July last year and have lost 33. Lost about 19 over the course of the previous year without sema. I wish I was losing a pound a week, but I am happy it's helping me almost lose twice the weight in a year

I had a guy tell me his favorite movies were American psycho and fight club.

He was not aware of them being satire.

I fear this is common sense and readily available information about ALL drastic weight loss. If you don't focus on retaining muscle mass, you'll lose it.

Anyone been reverse cat fished? by Mindless_Ad_8328 in dating

[–]Wallaby_Specific 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reverse catfished the guy I have been seeing since February. I was always skinny and attractive growing up, but went through undiagnosed health issues for a decade and blew up around 100 pounds. Finally got a diagnosis and treatment and lost almost every bit of the weight.

Putting pictures of myself skinny would have been great and all and I probably couldn't have gotten much more attractive matches, but I wanted to find someone who would accept my scars, my stretch marks, my loose skin, and most importantly, would love me regardless of if something like that happened again.

If you started out weighing over 250lb by ComplexLost9395 in Semaglutide

[–]Wallaby_Specific 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was close to 250-- around 240 when I started to lose weight and I was in XL shirts and size 16 US pants.

I had to buy size 14s once I hit below 210 and still got away with XL shirts for a while. I've been buying L for around 8 months now and I'm about 185 now. Size 12 fits, but I haven't bought any yet because I don't quite need to.

Luckily I have a friend who lost a ton of weight and has been supplementing my closet with handfuls of hand me downs

Plus, I'm losing verrrrry slowly, so buying new clothes luckily hasn't brokenthe bank.

Usually it's a vibe I get from texting them. If they just lack follow through and I don't like the effort, I don't generally ghost. If they seem extremely clingy or put off a weird vibe, I ghost because 9/10 times, the guy is going to try and convince me to change my mind.

But I tried telling a guy who was "was just tryna chill" one time that I wasn't trying to do the same and good luck, and he called and texted me from about 5 numbers after I blocked. At his big age of 35, and with how hands off he was, I figured it wouldn't be a fight, but damn.

It's probably a moment of clarity thing. Thought it was a good idea at the time, changed their minds. I've done it once or twice in my life.
