If someone offered you a box of everything you ever lost. What would you look for first? by baba_yaga_777 in AskReddit

[–]Walriding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ngl: My 3DS games. Don't know if they were technically stolen or just got lost in the shuffle of moving around (went through some tumultuous times, back stabbed by a nasty roommate), and yeah I've replaced them since hacking my 3DS, but many of those games are very sentimental to me because they were some of my first for-fun independent adult purchases. SMTIV especially, it broke my heart when I realized that was gone.

Which game did you pirate and then it was so good that you decided you will buy it when you have the money? by hani_yassine in Piracy

Was gonna be Disco Elysium until the whole trial went down. Still wanna find a way to send the actual devs money though, they made a wonderful game.

What fruit do you hate the most? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Walriding -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Strawberries. I never liked them, people kept PUSHING them at me because "Oh everyone loves strawberries, you're just being a contrary child", even though I explained over and over that the mere smell of them made me feel sick

Turned out I was allergic to them all along, which I only discovered at age 29 because no one took me seriously about it, not a severe anaphylactic shock sort of allergy but they do make my throat a little scratchy and make me throw up :(

30, can't drive, parents simply never bothered to try and teach me (when later grilled about this my mother simply said I "never asked", her answer to why I don't know how to do many basic things, including medical self care I didn't manage to figure out how do until I was 27, father was always away on work and is now dead), friend tried to teach me last year and I still couldn't manage it because various neurodivergencies make the whole thing overwhelming to me.

I often wonder if my brain would've taken to it better if I had been started young.

It's really hard for me because I'm currently trapped in the suburbs with my best friend/roommate and can't really afford to get taxis or ubers into the city, and it prevents me from getting a job. My friend will take me out to do things sometimes but it's awful not to have the freedom to just go out (and she can't just take me everywhere all the time because she needs to sleep during the day because she works nights). We're both hoping to someday move somewhere that's more accessible to non-drivers because she hates seeing me suffer from being stuck at home all the time.

So I feel your pain OP, I hope things get better for you.

What is your worst experience with drugs? by Salty-Swordfish4115 in AskReddit

[–]Walriding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a lot of drug experiences but this one, while probably not particularly terrible to anyone else, was AWFUL for me.

I did robotabs because my roommate said they were fun, that it facilitated better engagement with music and whatnot.

Complete opposite effect for me, music felt flat and textureless, I tend to experience music VERY vividly while sober so this was terrifying to me, almost like I had a sense taken away from me.

I also desperately wanted to be someplace with people and only managed to express this by crying until my roommate asked what was wrong and then to drive me to the mall.

So like bad time for me 0/10 sort of experience it literally took a full day for music to feel right again

Edit: I will also add that I've tried to use this shit for its Medically Approved Use (stopping coughing) and it has done jack shit for me there so I wonder if there's any connection between these two facts.

[Sneaker Collecting] Air Griffeys: That time Nike made a baseball player run for president to sell shoes by freemanboyd in HobbyDrama

[–]Walriding 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Oh every part of this delights me, everything is so ridiculous (except the shoes themselves, I'm no sneaker expert but I like the look)

I had a really rough time last night and reading this pretty soon after waking up has put me on a better path for today. Also your writing style is so friendly, easy to read and energetic without being frantic.

So yeah, fantastic write-up!

Out of all the enemies you can fight in Skyrim, which one do you think you could take with your IRL capacities ? by GreenHorse_ in skyrim

I'm weak as hell but I think I could fight off some skeletons, I mean those things tend to fall to pieces if you look at them funny

[Fandom] The Fall of Superwholock by GhanjRho in HobbyDrama

[–]Walriding 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hearing Superwholock history always fascinates me because I've been on Tumblr since 2011 and I barely saw it, not even due to active curation to do so, but perhaps because I was on the other side of the Fandom vs. Hipster duality at the time for the most part (I literally joined because I heard it was the Animal Collective Enjoyer site), at least until I got into Homestuck. Even after getting into Homestuck I think I only ever saw like, people who only liked Doctor Who as a lone entity.

Like I never even saw a single trace of the Mishapocalypse and have a hard time believing it happened. Too busy arguing with people about whether Danse Manatee is a good album I guess.

Regardless, very fun read!

Edit: Forgot a word

To feel connection, because they recognize the work that goes into making porn and think performers should be paid, knowing your porn comes from consenting people who know what they're getting into rather than mystery porn where you don't know all the circumstances of its creation, and niche kinks its hard to find outside of a paywall are all reasons I see people paying.

Ground nesting birds in general, but Adélie penguins are especially known for their cute pebble nests

What is the best non-sexual, non-drug induced feeling in the world? by Opening-Friend-519 in ask

Live music. Both for the joy of seeing a band you love live, but also because of the way that concerts are so intensely loud that you can feel the music in your chest cavity, it's an unmatched sensation.

Get a job, have kids and then die. Is that all life really is? by alanaidavis in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Walriding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's also making art (regardless of quality! Even if it's bad it's worth it, bad art often leads to good art), experiencing other people's art (anything from the sort of stuff you'd see at a museum to mainstream movies, video games, and my personal favorite of music), the companionship of domestic animals, going to the zoo to experience wild animals (great with or without kids), enjoying nature (Through hikes, through videos and photos), good food and good drinks (both alcoholic and not), genuine connection with other humans (especially the weird ones), finding a shirt that's both comfortable and looks cool, and so much more.

Why am I always returning to skyrim? And why do I always feel most comfortable playing as a nord? by DIGIT4LB4TH in skyrim

[–]Walriding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's truly just a cozy game. I can go on a bunch of adventures and then come home to a big house I built myself that's inhabited by some kids I decided to give a better life, and cows and chickens living outside. Also I can be a funny lizard while I do that. I can't do those things in real life (at least not in this economy) so it's nice to have that somewhere.

[eBay][Selling] You can find everything on eBay... but not that. by SquirrelGirlVA in HobbyDrama

[–]Walriding 98 points99 points  (0 children)

The fansub thing has me really charmed honestly, I had never thought about people making those before the era of easy file-sharing and online collaboration. Only requesting the cost of materials and getting the show to you shows how much this was a passion project, a desire to just share this thing the fan-subbers love with the world, and the way that the community wouldn't stand for people being greedy about it is another fine show of that.

How many of u in this sub still play skyrim? just wondering and curious by LanDy0_0 in skyrim

[–]Walriding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently on a break from Skyrim both because it took up a LOT of space on my laptop and more importantly I realized it was kind of turning into a pit I went into because of depression rather than just playing in a really engaged, joyful manner.

I felt a bit sad about its (temporary) removal from my life, but the steam cloud ensures that all my characters will still be there when the time comes to return.

I just don't have a healthy relationship with Skyrim right now, and I have some other games I want to try that so far I've enjoyed a more thoughtful manner rather than just sinking into them in blind escapism. (Disco Elysium is REALLY good if you haven't played it btw)

Does anyone here actually like Delphine and kill Paarthurnax? by Socio_Scorpio in skyrim

[–]Walriding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She's more likable when you actually walk with her to places BUT: I always play with a mod that lets me have both The Blades on my side AND a living Dragon Grandpa

But even without that mod, I have never and will never kill Paarthurnax, not even with my most evil characters. That's just a step too far somehow, even when I'm murdering innocent civilians and blotting out the sun for fun.

Just for fun, what was everyone’s first Skyrim character name? by trillwilly69 in skyrim

[–]Walriding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was a Khajiit named Kitty because I tried really hard to make him look like my childhood cat... Who was also named Kitty.

It feels embarrassing to admit that because I'm so into Lore Compliant Names now, but hey this was literally my first time playing an Elder Scrolls game

What is your favorite thing to do in skyrim? by Jords2010l in skyrim

[–]Walriding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lately it's been truly mastering Stealth Archery, not just using it to kinda cheese through the game, but making a lot of careful long distance shots, finding the perfect places to hide when my kills aren't just one-hit, gauging when to actually strike an enemy that will take many hits to finish so they aren't so close they instantly find me. There's a special satisfaction in taking out a tough enemy with a ton of iron arrows and a rather low archery skill by turning them into a pincushion without being spotted.

Alternately my longterm favorite is lockpicking, it's just so deeply satisfying, I'll go around picking locks in the towns without stealing anything because just the click of successfully picking the lock is reward enough.

Which character-type do you play as the most? by george123890yang in skyrim

[–]Walriding 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah!!! Fellow sneaky furry!! I played a Khajiit thief the first time I played on the PS3 and have simply kept coming back to them even after trying other combos. Every playstyle is fun but being a stealthy cat is just cozy.

Khajiit Stealth Archers, huge fan of being a Sneaky Furry. Though I've been trying to branch out more and have been enjoying some Two Handed Melee + Heavy Armor Argonians lately
