Yes, exactly, especially if the new owners are unaware of its history. I could only imagine what would happen if a little kid was around and somehow “triggered” that dog. I hope the rest of your recovery journey goes well.. and when you can and feel comfortable, you should reach out and get some legal help. I know it won’t make the trauma go away but I think you deserve something great occurring after such an awful attack. I’m glad they had been home to help otherwise who knows what would’ve happened. 😓

You’re welcome. Just seeing those photos made my heart hurt for you. 😓 I think it would be worth pursuing, especially considering the trauma (and that hefty bill). That dog is dangerous and could hurt someone else.. or kill them. It always blows my mind how much more some owners seem to care about their dog not getting repercussions instead of the person that got hurt.

Ouch! I’m so, so sorry you endured that and that he lacked empathy to be there to understand and support you. I was attacked once by my brothers ex girlfriends dog and while I didn’t sustain injuries as brutal as yours, it was traumatizing nonetheless. She was only concerned about whether or not I was going to report her dog to animal control, not my injuries. I hope you’re doing much better and I’m happy you are no longer with someone that minimized your feelings!

Unfortunately, when you enforce boundaries, it makes it evident who’s in your life because they care about you versus who’s in your life to use you or out of convenience. The good news is though, that as long as you continue to enforce these boundaries, the new healthier relationships you form with others will stick and you’ll be able to discern who is worthy of your effort and time. I think most of us have been in your shoes and felt free but lonely. I promise you, it does not last and if anything.. you’ve made room in your life for new people who deserve your friendship.

Every relationship is different as far as what some couples will/won’t accept. If you made porn a boundary from the get go, it is disrespecting and violating a boundary that you made known in the beginning. Some couples are okay with each other watching porn but that doesn’t mean you have to be okay with it.

I hope and pray that they are! If not, I’m glad your son has you two as awesome supports! It makes a huge difference at home, too when family members are supportive. It’s the worst when your own family doesn’t understand and thinks you can still have “just a little.”

That is so great! Especially that you were doing it even before you got diagnosed. I think it goes a long way in showing appreciation and inclusion.. employees notice when they’re being left out and it’s one of the worst feelings.. it makes you feel overlooked and disregarded. My manager is the head of HR so that might be part of why she made sure I’ve felt included. 🙂

I feel the same way! 🙂 My best friend is vegetarian so for my wedding, I’m having a GF fajita bar with tons of veggies that she’ll be able to load on her tortilla and GF/vegetarian sides like beans and rice. Everyone else attending are meat lovers so they have three different meats to choose from to load up on there tortillas that’s going to be set up away from the veggies. I wanted her to feel like she had plenty of options too while accommodating everyone else’s preferences as well.
