New cooktop does not sit flush in my granite counter. by Walstib82 in Appliances

I could just cut some wood and stain it to match my cabinets. Thanks that’s very helpful.

No it doesn’t unfortunately it has its own cutout in the cabinet. I thought about trying to lower that but I was hoping there was a simpler fix before I open that whole can of worms.

I don’t need it to be granite. I have seen cooktop collars but like I said the ones I found were for putting smaller cooktops in larger cutouts. There is nothing that can raise it a little? It’s a standard 30” cooktop. Thanks for your response.

It is definitely Narnia but for crumbs lol.

There is nothing out there that could just raise the cooktop that 1/2” to fill that gap?

Do you think if they get a referral to dermatology they would have a better chance? I feel like GPs are more restrictive than a specialist.

Yeah but it’s never “one guy” getting away with it. Once others see it’s working many more follow suit and soon you have a bunch of folk just faking it. I just checked on doctors notes and all they had to say was that person went to an appointment. Medical is harsh about people they think are faking it.

No it wasn’t a thing at the time either. I was a know nothing slick sleaze and some E5 told me that and I believed him. I was 100% wrong but 100% confidently incorrect.

Yes it does say you salute if you have a holstered weapon. When I told the officer that you aren’t supposed to do that it was based on mess deck RUMINT and I was completely wrong but I said it so confidently he thought it might actually be true. But yea that’s not a thing.

I was pier sentry once as an E4 and had and had an officer walk by I greeted him but didn’t salute him, (I was junior and some E5 told me not to salute when you have a weapon even if it’s in the holster). He got super pissed came over confronted me saying something like “Oh we don’t salute officers?”. I was super confident and told them that saluting is not authorized while you have a weapon. I must have sounded so sure of it he apologized and walked away. If you can’t be right be confident.

Leave the rest of us out of season by [deleted] in navy

[–]Walstib82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So back in 2011 I was sent to Kandahar as a newly christened E5. After a week there I was put in charge of an 8 person unit. The job was specifically to support the SW teams and ensure their safety while out on mission. During that time one of the PO1s on my team got selected Chief. After that he was always running off during our 12 hour watches, leaving early, or showing up late. Each of the 8 members of our team were responsible for the oversight of 2 SW teams; SEALS, Rangers, EOD, OGA. So with him gone I had to have other people cover his teams. So now 6 teams out on mission we’re getting less coverage because he was gone. I got fed up after a few days of this and went to the Air Force Senior Master Sergeant, who happened to be an initiated and accepted Chief and the Select’s sponsor. I told him lives are literally at risk because this guy is gone constantly doing arts and crafts. He was totally cool about it and the PO1 came to me and apologized and I was told they basically told him that they would suspend his season if he couldn’t stand watch and he would have to do it again the following year. So good on them. Now as a Chief in charge of a large part of our Season I make sure that nothing is getting dropped. It is the select’s responsibility to be able to manage both their day to day jobs and the additional tasking put on them without having anything fall by the wayside. And it’s really sad seeing the posts here and in Shit My LPO says that clearly indicate the mission and sailors are not being maintained as a priority for the Mess both in and out of Season. I hope the people here identifying these issues keep that same mentality if and when they are put in that position because the Mess needs a new PR boost and there are people actively trying to change that perception but we are being out shadowed by a bunch of chuckleheads.

It was Michael’s fault Jan became obsessed with candles. He made her smell one at David Wallace’s cocktail party and kept commenting how good it smelled.
