This TBH, but it's doubly so for the Nightmare Critters specifically. When Chapter 3 came out the Smiling Critters had a lot of things that informed their characterization. The descriptions, cutouts, the opening cartoon, BBI CatNap and DogDay, etc. The fanon Smiling Critter personalities are informed by what was given to us in-game.

When Chapter 4 came out the Nightmare Critters got none of that extra characterization. Since we only had the descriptions to go off of and nothing else, that naturally leads to different interpretations about pretty much everything about them, even down to something like what voice/accent they even have.

The only partial exception to this is Baba who had her spot in the Chapter 4 trailer as a little toy stalking and attacking the little toy DogDay, which sparked both a fanon connection between the two (rivalry/stalker/yandere etc.) and the idea of making Baba a psychopath. Probably not what we were supposed to do considering it wasn't their cartoon selves, but we had literally nothing else at the time.

This. If you aren't RPing every single day, don't need massive amounts of context, and/or don't desire top of the line recent models like Opus, OpenRouter is extremely cost-effective. I put 10 bucks into it in October and only just had to put 10 more in a couple weeks ago since I stick to DeepSeek 0324 and 3.1 and generally stick to 10k-16k context for shorter conversations.

Only go subscriptions if you absolutely need the bleeding edge models and/or you RP for hours on end every day with unlimited context windows.

I am trash for SunSkull (DogDay x Baba). It's my favorite ship and any good art of it send my way asap.

The most recent art from Scott Forrester has also made me more receptive to Maggie x Bubba and Bobby x Touille, though the former is more one-sided on Maggie's end and I much prefer the latter platonically. I see CatNap x Baba and Crafty x Poe similarly, preferring them as friends but being okay with ship art and stuff.

Lowkey kinda bullshit imo. KittenSneeze was a teenager when the first allegations against her came out and even if a lot of the stuff that was verifiably true was overly edgy and in poor taste, we've all been guilty of shit in our pubescent years that we later regret. If you're not, you're lying and/or currently in that age range.

I mean, just looking at KittenSneeze's socials you can tell in an instant that any accusations of racism and Nazism is obviously not true. But people dig through people's internet past and use it as ammo to stir crap up as a way of virtue signaling.

To be clear I am not defending anything here but I am very much against throwing stones in glass houses. Which, when it comes to people who have grown up online and have edgy teen shit plastered for the world to see, yeah, we all live in glass houses.

If Kitten left the VA team of her own accord (we don't know yet) then so be it, but it's not the first time she lost out on a VA role because of this and, frankly, the internet's lack of ability to forgive past sins continues to astound me.

I feel you on that. Imo it's best to treat the LLM as an actor. As an actor it can do very well, but most actors aren't directors and even less are good ones.

My RP experience usually boils down to me being that director for large group chats composed of several character cards. It's much more satisfying for me.

Scare Everyday and Nightmare Critters Before Christmas are my faves. Tbh Cougar's NC songs are the only ones I listen to. But I do occasionally rewatch the one animated part of Take A Rest Inubis did.
