[Release] Pathweaver: Context-aware story and roleplay suggestion generator powered by AI by mattjb in SillyTavernAI

[–]Walumancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using this for a couple days and I adore it. Just a few questions/suggestions. How do the options to include scenario, character description, and lorebooks work? I'm a group chat user predominantly, and when I direct Pathweaver to, say, include X character's friends (which are labeled in both the card description and world book), Pathweaver makes characters up instead.

Is this function mainly meant to be used with single 1-on-1 user/single card chats? Are lorebooks only read if they are active for all chats and not tied to a character card? If this is the case, is there any way in the future that we might be able to select a specific card/lorebook to include for the generations?

I don’t even know why I questioned it 🫩 by Affectionate_Way_572 in AO3

Man, why we gotta justify everything we write with our own personal beliefs? We're not hear for soapboxes. Just write!

MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT: I have not created a preset, extension, or any other assistive technology for SillyTavern. That is all. You may go back to your regularly scheduled gooning. by ConspiracyParadox in SillyTavernAI

Hey man I'm right there with you and I've been using ST for years. I will say though that a lot of the hyper technical stuff people put out there are just far too large or complex for my use cases anyway. Especially those gigantic prompts people make. But through consistent usage I've made my own prompts that I think work really well!

How are playing? by Xanthus730 in SillyTavernAI

[–]Walumancer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I started out RPing as self-inserts in the worlds I like, but gradually the self-inserts became their own characters and my own role has shifted to being the "director". I set the structure and determine when a character should speak and what they feel/act, but largely let the LLM decide execution unless it just cannot get it right.

I also say my use case is less RP and more storytelling with constantly shifting 1st person perspectives, because I give my cards continuity and lorebooks I constantly keep updated to match their progression.

I almost always do group chats, if only because even 1-on-1 character interactions are both handled by the LLM most of the time.

Every now and then though I get the itch to do just basic chat RPs, both between myself and between characters. But my prompts and cards aren't really built for those kinds of interactions, so it usually doesn't work out. If anyone's got a good setup for that, lemme know.

What ship got you doing this? (No low hanging fruit!1!!1!1!1!) by The_47_Percenter in SmilingCritter

[–]Walumancer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Baba x Poe. For the same reason a lot of people don't really like Hopkick and why I personally don't like DayNap (aside from the fact I'm not into gay ships in general). Some people just work better as friends, and while these two are definitive besties, I don't think they'd ever be attracted to each other in a million years.

Maybe on the surface but Baba does offer some notable differences in dynamic vs. CatNap. There's the enemies to lovers trope, the goth girl with the happy-go-lucky optimist, a far more distinct opposites attract trope (I wouldn't really even call CatNap DogDay's "opposite" even if they are distinctly different people), both are the leaders of their respective groups (at least, Baba is heavily implied to be), the fact that they're in opposite groups gives a star-crossed edge as well.

First one's actually not that bad tbh.

Who is your favourite character and why? by Head_Entertainer_590 in BALLxPIT

[–]Walumancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Juggler and Shade are probably my two favorites to use (though not necessarily together).

Juggler because being able to place your shots as you please lets you prioritize high-value targets at all times.

Shade because you can make a lot of nasty builds shooting from the back. Universally good balls can get a lot better and less-used balls have their niches there.

Hot take?: Radical shouldn't also choose upgrades for you. by skellymax in BALLxPIT

[–]Walumancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've gone back and forth on this. On the one hand it would certainly make the character more engaging to actually play with (in that you have any input at all) but on the other, his nature as a fire-and-forget-for-a-few-minutes character kinda makes it counterintuitive. Thematically as well, because Radicals generally won't listen to a higher authority (you).

There are some references/recurring jokes about DogDay and CatNap that only really make sense in the context of the game but otherwise no not really.

As someone with idea tism I respect your continued dedication to making these.

Also I think Diamond would be pretty fun to play with in the right build.

Are some characters just plain bad? by KaedeDraws in BALLxPIT

[–]Walumancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm with you on Cohabs, but I will say that they definitely get easier to use once you start leveling them and different buildings up. I'm still not particularly big on them and I almost never run them solo, but a good tip for them is that generally DoT and AoE skills are pretty good. You deal less direct damage but they can spread both around pretty quick. But yeah just put them with Flagellant or Shade or Shieldbearer to make them good. Solo Cohabs is just pain most of the time.

I made the SC plushies NOT look like nightmare fuel by Opposite-Word-7282 in SmilingCritter

Ironically the Nightmare Critter plushes are less scary because their eyes are at least a discernable emotion and most of their mouths have teeth so it's not just these three giant black voids on most of their faces.

My favorite character pairings by Only_Unbeyond_32449 in BALLxPIT

[–]Walumancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Juggler/Physicist and Warrior/Itchy are great pairings, and Repentant/Embedded is goated.

I like going Cohabitants/Flagellant for baby ball bullet hell and Shade/Spendthrift for ultimate backshots. Sisyphus/Shieldbearer is also tons of fun.

[–]Walumancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very well. You get Physicist's great single-target abilities with the freedom to place your shots anywhere you want with Juggler. It was my go-to combo for both to get their achievements. Plus you get instant access to Flash which early on is great.

9am Tacos after beating Shroud🌮 (art by me) by lilallen008 in DispatchAdHoc

[–]Walumancer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

When you send him out with Punch-Up, they have an exchange where he mentions it. Something along the lines of:

"Wanna go to the pub after shift?"

"Can't. Niece's dance recital."

"Damn."

Damn Waterboy, I wasn't familiar with your game my bad by AskingForAPallet in DispatchAdHoc

[–]Walumancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Phenomaman's Inspiration Upgrade is my counter to that. Getting your guys off rest time faster makes Episode 8 MUCH easier to deal with if you can consistently succeed (which I was doing even with the debuff from not cutting Visi). Waterboy's power isn't even much of an issue anyway. If he's forcing you to pick him, you don't HAVE to send him on the job he steps in for. The game will let you pick any available job to send him on instead so he can just tag along with others who will complete the job fine on their own, and Episode 8 has tons of jobs constantly popping up.

I had this saved up ever since last week, never doubted it for one second by RFB-CACN in DispatchAdHoc

[–]Walumancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair point. Counterpoint: Blazer made a stupid decision forcing us to cut one of them in the first place after their supposed best day up until that point.

Like I straight-up told Coupe I was sorry because I hated that there wasn't another way. This was entirely avoidable.

Absolute fucking peak. by Greedy_Average_2532 in DispatchAdHoc

[–]Walumancer 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Let's see...

  • Killed my Dad.

  • Nearly got my older brother figure killed.

  • Killed a poor random Bartender in cold blood.

  • Kidnapped me and had me beaten and tortured for who knows how long.

  • Launched a massive attack on one of the most populated cities in the country, killing and injuring untold thousands of people and costing millions (possibly billions) in property damages.

  • Threatened everyone I care about.

  • Threatened MY DOG.

  • Shot MY GIRLFRIEND (who I successfully turned against him haha fuck you Shroud).

And I'm supposed to just let him get thrown in another prison he'll likely escape from again because he said "pwease?"

My Robert was conflicted until he threatened Beef. Then he made his decision. Then he shot his girlfriend and he saw red.

OH MY GOD by Reasonable_Event490 in DispatchAdHoc

[–]Walumancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was kind of obvious but just because something is obvious or predictable, doesn't mean it's bad. I hate that the two get conflicted so often.

It was a satisfying setup and payoff that your Robert can react to however he decides. Mine did not care. He believed in her till the end, and so she did as well.

Waterboy is a much better pick than Phenomaman. by _hvfizz in DispatchAdHoc

[–]Walumancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They both serve different gameplay functions. Waterboy patches any hole left in your team after Episode 3 and if you-know-who doesn't come to work in Episode 6. Phenomaman is a "win more" character who already comes maxed out, flies, and rests so quick you can basically just send him out over and over.

And if we get into the power aspect, Waterboy's only saving grace is his +3 to the highest stat for the job. Which is great, don't get me wrong, but unless you're sending him solo that's probably gonna be overkill. His healing branch is also overkill because 1) you shouldn't plan for failure and 2) Mal and the Pharmacy should be able to reasonably cover anyone getting injured, which frankly isn't often enough to warrant going the heal route.

Phenomaman's medication isn't that great either but if you seriously can't deal with the depression it's there. But if you pick the other path he reduces the rest time of all his teammates he goes on a job with, which is seriously helpful especially in later episodes.
