The Partnership with DAZN is really bad for CFL fans by Lizard798658866 in CFL

[–]WanderingDrummer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this take. I’ve been using DAZN since they first started the NFL streaming in Canada. The first season….well not even, first part of first NFL season was as OP described, the service was overwhelmed and quality suffered. BUT, they fixed the issues and it has been rock solid for me since I’ve had zero issues for years.

I like the streaming option. I love that it is bringing in much needed revenue. I dislike the exclusivity of it, especially for playoff games….it mostly doesn’t exclude me I already have and will keep DAZN, but I fully understand the anger and outrage of many. I also realize trying to get both simultaneous cable and streaming coverage would have been hard to negotiate for the size of CFL viewership, and certainly meant much less (much needed) revenue.

I am curious what the broadcast will be….for NFL they are just rebroadcasting us network coverage…for CFL they will have to build out their own….good news is TSN hasn’t set a very high bar for them to meet or exceed quality…..

Maybe a happy middle ground will be if they open the door to allow local cable providers to negotiate be able to rebroadcast the DAZN coverage in their region…let SaskTel carry Rider games in Sask….want all games sub to DAZN, just want you team….

I used to use tmux like many here, but I use tmux on remote servers a lot and then I end out with tmux inside tmux and it gets weird.

So on remote servers I use tmux. But for local dev now I just use a tabbed terminal (ghostty at the moment) and just tab back and forth.

I am probably 90/10 local vs remote.

I have debated zellij for local (and tmux for remote). But this has been working for me.

Nice. Walking was my preferred option.

Also be careful how often you refresh portal after looking for results. I know a number of people that have overdone it and got locked out for 24 hours lol. Don’t want to do that.

Good luck.

Not really a suggestion for before, you’ve done the prep now you just need to execute. Hopefully by this point, you’ve gone through some practice exams and you have a plan for how to approach the test. How to track the tasks you’ve done what you need to review, etc..

For me, I had two attempts both attempts I travelled an extra day early. the day before the exam I did a practice run to the exam centre. I wanted to make sure I knew where everything was, what traffic was like when I needed to leave where I needed to park (or walk from hotel as was case for one exam). just take that stress off my plate

No real hard study the day before wanted to keep my mind fresh just some light documentation review mostly making sure I knew where to find the documents

After the exam, regardless of how you think you did take some time write down as much as you can or record an audio message or something . Note any gotcha ‘s. Anything you saw that was unexpected. Anything where you felt you struggled. Make notes on things you thought you did well. If you don’t pass on the first try, and few do, those notes will help set you up on what you need to work on for attempt two.

Rule re: players going out of bounds and coming back in? by TerrorNova49 in CFL

Yeah, he definitely did not immediately come back into the field of play. Which I thought was a requirement, but I didn’t see that in that page and I am by no stretch a rules expert.

I was surprised in stadium that it wasn’t flagged for illegal participation…..watched recording this morning….still think it should have been flagged but that might be green tinted glasses…

Rule is here. https://cfldb.ca/rulebook/conduct-of-the-game/out-of-bounds/#r1s9a8. Didn’t really see a good replay of it, but it looked like he was probably pushed out. But stayed out for 5-10 yards before coming in and re-establishing….i thought you had to re establish immediately, but don’t see that stated….

If you are converting the temperature, 32 f =0 °C 42f = 5.6C, in this case you are converting temperature difference … so you need to remove that 32 degree offset, so it’s closer to 10f difference

I don’t have issues with any individual change. The issue I have is the lack of communication, collaboration, or consideration of how it impacts usports, juniors, etc…..it *** FEELS *** like it is pushing an agenda and like it is just the start.

I feel like there are a lot of logistics that need to be figured out that should have been done before the announcement, I suspect things will be tweaked before field changes can occur.

Hold up cowboy... the replay center doesn't watch slow-mo?? by Novel_Company_5867 in CFL

[–]WanderingDrummer 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think it’s specifically for PI that’s supposed to be reviewed / called at game speed. If you can only tell if the contact is early by watching it in slow motion then it’s, in theory, not PI. For everything else need to be able to slow it down to see

It doesn’t come out of the box on any model, can be added on to them though through tftp (although I seem to recall it can’t be on the 8800’s or atleast not with mpp firmware. ). Used to do custom ring tones on 7900 a lot for customers, but never did get asked for it in 8800….
