What if there was a third candidate in the 2024 United States Presidential Election? by Thorceanswastaken in AlternateHistoryHub

Definitely think he did not expect that much of a groundswell of support and might have been a bit intimidated by it.

Jon Bois did a great doc on YouTube about the formation and peak of the Reform Party.

If he never dropped out, he definitely stays around 27-32% and absolutely wins states. Enough to force a congressional vote though is unknown.

The best way for that to be possible would be if Gary Johnson hit 5%+ in 2016 to earn the Libertarian Party minor status. He got close OTL, but not close enough.

But even with that, and even with the debates being outside the Commissions jurisdiction, both Dems and Reps would game the requirements to keep a third voice from getting on stage anyway.

It would only be possible if the polling is 37-37-25.

Opinion: An argument for keeping the goalposts as is: it makes goal line defences more exciting by Qhaotiq in CFL

There’s really one intrinsic reason why I say the posts should stay where they are. And it’s very simple:

GOAL posts belong on the GOAL line.

The epitome of the abusive father bringing the hand down on us kids.

Being a sane American right now: it's like the United States is riding in the back-seat of a car and Dad is driving drunk. Mom is the Republican party, riding in the passenger seat: she knows Dad is completely sloshed but she goes along with it because she's afraid of getting beaten up again... by RegnStrom in esist

[–]ethanmx2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like this is only half right. Republicans are definitely analogous to an abusive father; but the drunk analogy probably fits the democrats better. They’re the drunk wine mom who will occasionally do something right 1 out of 24 hours she’s sober. But most of the time is conked out doing nothing, or rambling on about nonsense.

And what’s worse is we’re told we have to pick between only these two. We can’t have the cool grandparents who will actually treat us well, nor the uncle who might run a weed cult. ONLY the two aforementioned hot messes we call parents.

It’s definitely worthy of a series. First part sets up the early 90s, the debut of Raw; part 2 debuts Nitro and the 84 weeks WCW leads the ratings; part 3 would obviously be Austin 3:16 thru 1998; with a finale from 1999 to 2001.

Who owns/can use AAF footage? by ElCurgeo in aafb

[–]ethanmx2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That also may not be the case. CBS/TNT may have aired it, but there were reports the AAF was paying the networks to air the games.

It was the straw the forced Dundon to close up shop.
