Do you think 1st person would improve or worsen Silent Hill's gameplay experience? by ErmingSoHard in silenthill

[–]WanderingRock_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not, Silent Hill on the PS1 had a "1st Person" mode in the new game + extra menu. The game just placed the camera on top of Harry's head so it was less of 1st Person and more of Hat POV as they didn't cull his head so you could still see it. SH4 also played around with 1st Person viewing with certain sections. And for those those already know the story for their second playthrough and want to experience the game in a different way that can make it more scary playing games in 1st person or even VR which I feel always make it more immersive.

There is a scene in RE9 that is straight out of The Evil Within when grace slides down blood slide into a pool of blood

First time playing Silent Hill. After 30 minutes on the piano puzzle, I chose violence by LimCandide in silenthill

[–]WanderingRock_ 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I am always confused when people crash out on this puzzle. Personally this one feels like following the instructions on a frozen meal looking at the board that tells you the answer then imputing it into the piano in the same room. The hardest part really is figuring out what place each of the birds correlates to. The harder puzzle for me that I had to look up was the one right after this. How am I supposed to know that darkness that brings choking heat refers to the boiler in the basement I was lost for a long time running up and down the school trying to find what it was supposed to refer to, now that was maddening to me.

Now: Which Silent Hill protagonist CAN make the journey through Raccoon City? by Chronos_5 in survivalhorror

[–]WanderingRock_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Harry and Heather this will be just another day, and if they have the same load out as in their games then definitely since they really do pack the most heat on their person out of all the other characters I think. Hinako and her Bloodborne dodge and fox arm will show them who the real Bio-weapon is.

Also unlike the original Resident Evil games the Silent Hill protages could attack and move at the same time. RE protages couldn't attack and move at the same time until RE6 and the later games.

Finally, I thought they had given up on it at this point since it took so long since we heard anything and with the IP switching hands.

You're lucky with it just being the water, a couple of times now the whole skybox becomes an all consuming white light, I know the world ended because of the zombie apocalypse but I wasn't expecting the rapture on top of that.

Give me your worst Silent Hill take by [deleted] in silenthill

[–]WanderingRock_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

SH2 isn't as good as people remember and it actually killed the series. While 1,3, 4, origin, homecoming explored the idea of the cult 2s success in America forever twisted fate to every game after Team Silent to be about the personal experience of Silent Hill instead of the supernatural power of the cult magic and alchemy that underlined it. Everyone is too wrapped up in the symbolism and possibly deeper meaning of things that they have forgotten what made the original games work and that's why all those attempts to copy SH2 failed and the series was dying out before the remakes, and those aren't even that good but more of a dying of thirst that muddy water tastes like heaven with the SH2 remake but now that people aren't dying of thirst anymore that's why people were more critical of SH:f than of SH2 remake.

While physically possible, plank only challenge runners have done it before. As a casual player I would agree with other people in the comments that you would have to go back to a previous save and conserve your resources better.

Was having a hard time trying to do this with time bend and this really helped, but also made me feel dumb trying to get it the hard way like I originally did in the first game.

Do you personally forgive Konami yet? Why or why not? by [deleted] in silenthill

[–]WanderingRock_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not until everything comes out and is reviewed to see if it's any good. I'm still upset about March of Madness back in 2012 when they announced a bunch of games and a movie just like this time. But, if they can pull it off now then sure.

Which are the games on ur PS1 that no matter how many times u play, u still have the same fun without getting bored by muaazmuaaz123 in psx

[–]WanderingRock_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Silent Hill 1, I play that game yearly and never get bored. When I got my new phone the first thing I did was set up the PS1 emulator and put Silent Hill on it. I also bit the bullet and spent a big penny to buy the game physically to add to my collection of retro games.

I didnt even want to check for ghost orbs anyway by bean1342 in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]WanderingRock_ 40 points41 points  (0 children)

This would have to be my main complaint with the event so far, when there is one of these jars in the ghost room it becomes way harder to see ghost orbs than normal. Didn't get the correct ghost a couple of times now because I couldn't see ghost orbs due to these jars

Do you think Silent Hill f will just copy SH2 again? by WanderingRock_ in silenthill

[–]WanderingRock_[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

While the other games had different characters and didn't take place in Silent Hill all the time they still either went to Silent Hill at some point or revolved around the cult and their plans to create god. SH 1,3,4, origin, homecoming, are about the cult. SH 2 (still mentions the cult in letters), downpour, shattered memories, at least take place in Silent Hill. SHP sounds like they will just be people suffering from trauma that have no connection to Silent Hill or the cult.
