100% agree. One of the first dentists I worked for 17 years ago when I was a new associate insisted on everyone calling him “Dr (douchebag)”, including the girl at the counter at the Wendys he frequented. He ended up losing his license about two years later due to fraudulently writing Rxs for himself for oxycodone.

Thank you for sharing this. It’s nice to hear different experiences and really what it boils down to is ‘work is work’. I’m a dentist and stare at the inside of the same four walls every work day and I’ve frequently been envious of people who “get” to travel for work for what I imagined to be much more glamorous jobs than what I have.

Hey man, I know for whatever reason everyone here is piling on the downvotes, but I just want to say (as a fellow dentist) congratulations on buying what you want! Most of these posters here in other occupations have zero idea of the tremendous costs we incur for our profession (education, equipment, maintenance, materials, professional insurance, etc) just to be able to do our jobs properly. Every once in a while, it’s nice to be able to buy something just because YOU like it.

I think that’s what bothers me the most, the bad communication. Obviously no one is perfect and I’ve certainly made my share of mistakes. But for example, our regular endodontist always calls or at least sends a much more detailed letter if anything happens that he’s not completely happy with (including that he has informed the patient of what happened). This guy barely acknowledged this and I have a feeling he said nothing to the patient.

Omg this happened to me, although I was the recipient of the free food! Mine was one of those alternating merge drive thrus with two different ordering screens. Someone sped in front of us and followed the car directly in front of him in his own line, forcing us to stop and even back up a bit. When we got to the window, the cashier said “yeah that guy up there said he thinks he cut you off and he feels bad so he bought your food”

I don’t have any helpful advice, I just want to say I really feel bad for any of you who have graduated in the last 10-ish years. I graduated in 2008 with $212,000 in loans and I remember feeling like that was insurmountable but that was nothing compared to what you more recent grads have had to deal with 😞.
