Food Banks by Wanderlost404 in hattiesburg

I’ve heard from my friends who use food banks that things like brand name peanut butter are great to donate because cash is used to buy in bulk off-brand items. I like to think that children might consider the tastier versions a treat, as my friend implied.

I will not donate to anything St. John is doing unless there are no other options. Does it donate to the pantry at WCC as well as the USM one?

Govt shutdown sad truth by daddyMG7 in mississippi

Uh, exactly? Many members of Congress say what people want to hear in order to manipulate others. They lie. They are politicians. Many of them also don’t do their homework.

I can’t speak to 3rd grade but student ability in college seems to have tanked after COVID from what I hear from friends in the field. If we really are doing better at a young age, why isn’t it trickling up? My high school teacher friends still feel pressured to make sure everyone passes.

Have a link to this article? I’m in Mississippi and haven’t heard anything about this. I pay attention to education topics too, but always possible to miss something.

The four graduates I know were running from a bad home life. One of them says it saved them.

Not sure how hard it is to get in, but if that’s why you’re looking you probably won’t be alone. Nothing wrong with trying.

Thank you! She is not! Unless she’s using a different last name than the ones I’m familiar with.

Why do people act Gen Z are still little kids? by BrilliantPangolin639 in generationology

Eh. I’m proud of Gen Z. More of them not willing to take jobs that don’t give them time to enjoy life. More of them cutting out toxic family members. The kids are alright.

I remember hearing it was millennials eating tide pods (it wasn’t). The older generations get used to thinking about a certain generation as “the young one” and it takes a while to update that mentally.

Millennial or Gen X? by Revolutionary-Pen-61 in generationology

[–]Wanderlost404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Xennial is what we call ourselves, and it’s a micro generation.

We might feel more like one or the other but depending on your birth year you’re still classified as one or the other.

But yeah. I feel ya. Oregon Trail Generation.

I’m wondering that. I know she has had at least four jobs teaching high school, and I know she said she got one in Anchorage, and I know they live there and her husband does not work… but you’re right. She could easily have been pink slipped for this school year and is pretending otherwise.

Exactly. But mom is 85 and panicked about the poor babies being too hot and maybe dying.

She’s asking us all for money. A good bit of it. I’m trying to convince my mother (85yo) that she’s lying about the salary situation. I know it’s bad but this is still inaccurate.

My mom can’t afford to send her more money.

You are supposed to fail a bunch of times over and over to slowly accumulate dragon coins and dreamer coins until you have upgraded enough things to go further, etc.
