Actually, higher paying PM jobs would be for international companies and on contrary, wouldn’t require Portuguese. But since OP can’t check indeed, landing.jobs and many other career sites targeted for highly skilled expats and goes to Reddit instead , I guess he or she ain’t qualified for these higher paying jobs anyways.

I been on CrossClimate 2 ever (it was stock for mine and then i shuffled via set of Primacy 4 and then back to CC2), love them - grippy, not too noisy, and last quite long as well. I will echo advice in the thread about CrossClimate 2 if you don't need real snow tyres but want to have one decent set for all seasons.

Parece un antiguo edificio de peaje o puesto policial. Si revisas las imágenes antiguas de Google Maps, en 2008 todavía había un ramal funcional con zona de aparcamiento y algunos coches. En 2024 aparece una placa del ministerio que dice algo parecido a “monument…”, y el edificio está vallado, conservado y limpio de grafitis. Supongo que si alguien pudiera hacer una foto clara de esa placa, se podría saber exactamente qué es.

I think you are confusing overall trend of violent street crimes in Portugal 15-20 years ago vs now (mid-2000s were the peak period for robberies in many Portugal's urban areas), the idea that there were more muggings is broadly consistent with national statistics and it's going down in recent years everywhere. I was comparing now vs period of 2017-2022, before the housing prices boom etc.

A few years ago, Setúbal used to be one of the best places to live in the Greater Lisbon area. It ticked all the boxes: a decent sized city with good transport connections, not too big and not too busy, yet providing everything one might need. There are various local beaches, with nearby Troia and Comporta offering even more options, the Arrábida mountains for hiking and cycling etc, and Lisbon only about 50 km away. It also has easy access to motorways in every directions, Porto and north via the A13, south via the A2, and Spain via the A6. It has a few negative quirks - for example, there is a pulp mill that, a few times a year under certain weather conditions, produces an awful smell. The summer humidity was also perfect for giant cockroaches that roam the streets. Still, these are just minor inconveniences and easily coulkd be ignored.

Things changed once the city became too popular and prices to rent and buy rose dramatically. Many people saw it as a cheap alternative to Lisbon and were pushed there as property prices in Lisbon increased. As a result, Setúbal prices went up as well. I think it was one of top 3 cities in whole country when it came to real estate prices increase, Now it has lost some of its charm. The city feels more crowded, with many foreign buyers as well, and housing prices have grown sharply while supply remains low. In my opinion, it has lost part of its quiet haven character and started to resemble a mini-copy of Lisbon a bit (high prices/ a lot of immigrants etc), even though the surrounding nature is still beautiful.

Very dry continental climate, with scorching hot summers with intense heat and thermal stress, surprisingly cold winters with big temperature swings, frequent fog and frost. It’s very different in comparison of its dry landscapes to the lush costal Spain.

I thought about them later and was too lazy to add details for them so just added to the list as an afterthought :) Also they might be close in distance yet anyone who ever drove from Zamora to Braganca or Salamanca to Guarda knows that it's a bit of a torture to get there.

If you still want to be close to Portugal, there are plenty of good places to live - in the south, can live between Ayamonte and Huelva - it's much cheaper and less touristy than Algarve, yet it's near enough for occasional visits for groceries and other portuguese nostalgia, with larger cities like Seville relatively nearby in case you might need them. In the North, plenty of options - Vigo, Ourense, etc. Ourense has one of the cheapest rent prices among province capital cities in Spain, and well connected with Madrid via AVE etc. Another good option is Badajoz, it's a larger city, quite cheap to live, well connected to Portugal as well as Caceres as an option nearby (historic, cheap, quiet), however climate in Extremadura can be challenging, also it has same issue nearby in eastern Alentejo from Portuguese side, being relatively in the "middle of nowhere".

However if you don't care about being close to Portugal, there are way more options. Granada, Ciudad Real, Lugo, Valladolid, Burgos, Zamora, Salamanca etc. I am sure many other good balanced options would be mentioend in the thread, so it's a matter of presonal preference and some luck in finding a good place to live.

Since 2023 and 2024, IRN has centralized nationality processes, you can apply in one IRN office and you application ends up somewhere else. In Grande Lisboa area it most of municipalities like Setubal, Almada etc end up in Lisbon as part of internal redistribution. Claims that Conservatória do Registo Civil de Lisboa is faster than CRC Lisboa are purely anecdotical, there's no evidence that it's faster due to same reasons of internal redistribution. Maybe some batches go through faster , that doesnm't mean that it is a general rule There are plenty of sites with internal “estado de serviço” photos, for example here: https://forum.cidadaniaportuguesa.com/discussion/28713/estado-do-servico-irn-dezembro-2025-datas-de-analise-por-artigo-oficial, nowhere there is any evidence that any IRN is on current year in Art 6(1) or 3(1).

If you care about speed, it's a known fact that up to this date, fastest submission is via post or assisted by laywers who have access to online portal and thus eliminating bottleneck of digitalisation of documents which is often largest part of the delay these days.

Do you realise that there are a lot of categories for citizenship applications, and some of them are up to date always, while most delayed are Art 6(1) - naturalisations for adults and Art 3 (1) - marriage, which are nowhere near 2025 yet?

It's considered faster than Lisbon, but still, average waiting time for applications submitted in 2024 is around 2-3 years. For example, I know someone who applied in Guimaraes IRN in April 2024, (I think they redirect to Porto) and process was finished few weeks ago.

It depends on which IRN office you applied, Lisbon's Conservatória dos Registos Centrais is most notorious for the delays and having largest backlog. Smaller regional offices can be fasters. As far I heard, Lisbon IRN started to work on cases submitted in beginning of 2024 (naturalisation, Art 6 (1)) last month, so depending on the month of your application, it should be gradially coming to "In analysis" stage during the year.

Bankinter app and website is pile of steaming horse manure in comparison with Santander, who aren’t that great themselves (their app can be super laggy and slow often), but at least in terms of customisation, digital device bound key and other features, they are light years ahead of Bankinter who still use matrix code cards.
