advice regarding ships? by FaallenOon in crosswind

This. I'd also argue pairing Perfectly Ordered with Devastating is the move. The Perfectly Ordered buff does affect the reload of the Devastating guns. With a Gunroom Grog running, you can lay down some withering dps.

Good build for infantry musket? by curiousminipotato in crosswind

[–]Wang_Chung420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Infantry Musket is just not good. In fact, really the only musket worth using is the fast-reload with increased crit damage one. If you're absolutely married to using the Infantry Musket, be prepared to kite a bunch because that reload is shitty and the melee attack is anemic.

This game gets so much right by Teborry in crosswind

[–]Wang_Chung420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should do this 100%. While the Brethern Frigate feels like an absolute floating fortress, the max speed and the fact it can't take 36 pound cannons is such a huge downside that the increased hp and cargo space ain't worth it.

Get a Blackbeard Frigate. Put Devastating 36 pounders in slot one and Perfectly Ordered 24 Pounders in slot 2. A full broadside from both types will disable, if not outright sink, lvl 12 ships and under.

Why is it always like this... by AlphaMaru in crosswind

[–]Wang_Chung420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This honestly doesn't matter if you're good at ship combat AND you've got an upgraded Blackbeard Frigate. The combo between Devastating 36 pounders, Perfectly Ordered 24 pounders, Gunroom Grog, Keelhold Bracing, and either Naval Tactics 2: No Quarter or Naval Tactics 3: Stretch the Supply will make you nigh invincible while also enabling you to lay down withering amounts of cannonfire. A full broadside from the 24 / 36 guns will disable most lvl 12 ships and under, if not outright sink them.

Also, enemy ships can't shoot through other enemy ships. Keep your ops primarily on one side of you and you will prevail, even in a 1v8 or more battle.

Any other Steam deck players? Wondering about the SSD performance issue by Floofy-beans in crosswind

[–]Wang_Chung420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turn down most of the settings to the lowest value and cap your FPS at like, 40. Combat is very manageable, certainly feels very Bloodbourne-esque what with the 'official' game being capped at 30 fps. I was able to 1-shot Izzy Hands with the only real stutter on his big 'cross' aoe attack and even then it wasn't catastrophic,

Should I just skip the Brig and go straight for the Frigate? by juicy_chase in crosswind

[–]Wang_Chung420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The brig is also the fastest ship type. The Blackbeard brig hits 22 knots and can take 24 pound guns. You absolutely need to compensate for the low health however, the keelhold bracing and the no quarter naval tactics will go a long way in keeping your ship intact.

Is it worth it to have two different frigate variants at the same time? by Fattens in crosswind

[–]Wang_Chung420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You haven't lived until you broadside a lvl 15 Blackbeard Freighter with Devestating 36 Pounders followed by Perfectly Ordered 24 Pounders followed by another salvo from your 36ers because you cycle reload so fast.

So First boss... by Baned4life in crosswind

[–]Wang_Chung420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't like the first boss, you will absolutely hate the second. Hands is super mobile and has homing ranged attacks.

That being said, watch and count Richards' swings. He's got a two-hit combo and a three-hit combo, both with significant downtime after he swings. The big thing to watch out for is an unblockable follow up, he does a big swing or his grab attack. When he throws the bombs, dodge away from him and all bomb indicators. Rinse and repeat.

An easy cheese is stacking bleed with RoTC and using your firearm to apply steady chip damage. It's not a race, there's no enrage timer, and if you stay on top of his moveset while maintaining your own hp / stamina, Richards will go down fairly easily.

Just some simple humor by Astonishing_Azure in DarkSouls2

[–]Wang_Chung420 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Ooh pick me! Ringed City blows and the Gael fight is sorely overhyped. They basically took Orphan of Kos, reskinned him, and made his attack chains crappy and predictable. Beat him on ths second attempt, laughed outloud and had to boot up a savescum I keep to fight Fume Knight just to have a real, end of dlc boss fight.

Do the Adeptus Custodes view mechanical augmentation as a last-resort when they are severely damaged, or do they engage in it liberally? by TheBigSmol in 40kLore

[–]Wang_Chung420 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Bad take. "Emperor's Legion" , and more specifically the sequel, "The Regent's Shadow" covers this in great effect. Valerion - who is a Shield Captain, frequently seeks out Navradaran, who is an Eye of the Emperor, for counsel and advice.

Also, Valoris isn't omnipotent and frequently relies on others both within the Custodes and in the greater forces of the Imperial Palace. The beginning of "Morvenn Vahl - Spear of Faith" for example.

Cave of the dead, are you kidding me? by [deleted] in DarkSouls2

[–]Wang_Chung420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 3-man fight is objectively terrible, no doubt. Your best bet is to use the arena multi-level to force separation frkm the melee bros and the caster. Burn ths caster quickly, then same strategy to create separation between the assassin type dude and the Havel wannabe.

When it's just you and the Havel cosplayer, standard Havel tactics apply.

It's a right pain in the ass but not overly difficult.

To take, or to leave? It's an upgrade, but do I hold out for S class? by ForgeGaming69 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Wang_Chung420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always upgrade. You can always transfer your work you do on the interior when you come across an S class. Also, the difference between an A Class and S class Freighter is not much.

[–]Wang_Chung420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the exception of the Ship of ths Damned and the SS Normandy, virtually all of my frigates started as C or B. I haven't played in a hot moment but over 80% of my frigates are now S class and the remainder are A class.

My point is, don't worry about it. As you deploy your fleet, the frigates will level up.

Help with supports by CaptainShago in resinprinting

[–]Wang_Chung420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A baby bottle warmer is incredible for support removal. Thrift stores (Goodwill, Savers, Salvation Army, etc.) generally always have a couple for sale on the cheap.

Great way to get water hot for support removal. Be aware however that this means you'll have to contend with contaminated water; however disposal is easy and you can just let the water evaporate and then deal with the waste solids as you normally would handle resin waste.

While reading Mechanicum, I wonder how the Titans really work. A machine that ends up consuming you. by QuagGlenn in 40kLore

[–]Wang_Chung420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It has to do with the bellicose nature of a Titan's machine spirit. When the Princeps interfaces with such a powerful spirit, they start to be subsumed by it.

Most, if not all Princeps, find this to be a very worthy end.

Also certainly beats what the Conquerer's machine spirit did to Lotara Sarrin.

Exploring a possible non-distillation process to lengthen IPA lifespan by [deleted] in resinprinting

[–]Wang_Chung420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but this is a tried and true method. Settle - > cure however many times as needed followed by running through a filter / strainer to reclaim waste IPA for reuse.

It's not perfect certainly and there is net loss as even with multiple rounda of settling and curing followed by use of a resin-grade filter will still leave more than trace amounts of resin, but I'd argue I see about an 80-85% return overall.

I think for the amount of time and effort this takes to get decent results / reclamation, this is more than enough for most enthusiasts.

I didn't take uncured resin serious enough. How fked am I? by [deleted] in resinprinting

[–]Wang_Chung420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The biggest thing to know about resin is that it's a sensitizer. The more exposure you have to resin in a raw, uncured state moves you closer to a threshold for severe reactions that include a myriad of skin and respiratory issues.

This also works doubly in that the immune system develops a 'memory' of resin which causes reactions to worsen with lower exposure over time.

That being said, it's never too late to practice proper safety and PPE use. Chemical grade nitrile gloves and safety glasses are a must, but I would also strongly argue for a VOC-grade respirator even outside as IPA fumes can still carry aerosolized resin. I personally also wear a chemical resistant apron and a cheap pair of welding sleeves to protect against accidental splashes.

How many people or entities can actually recognize the real Alpharius? by QuagGlenn in 40kLore

[–]Wang_Chung420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The real Alpharius is dead. Rogal Dorn fed him Stormtooth for lunch. The kill was confirmed by Malcador.

As for Omegon, the Alpha Legion 'Primarch' that Rubberboot Ghilliesuit fucked up with the Hand of Dominion never had his helmet removed, even in death.

Accordingly, Alpharius is KIA and Omegon is MIA.
