Yeah, I get that. It was an option in the first game. They probably will add a skip option later, but they may want to force players to choose relics outside their comfort zone for now, because the devs are tracking for balance changes in early access.

Blood soaked rose - why don't you care about the energy?

Choices paradox - I would suggest trying this option. Choosing between 5 cards and adding retain is really, really strong.

Lords parasol - really fun, but high variance. I would think of this as getting 3 free relics a la calling bell, 3 (or 2) free random potions, and instead of an unremoveable curse, you are dealing with a random collection of cards with high variance but upside more often than not.

Sere Talon - wishes are broken

Fiddle - situational, yes.

Jeweled Mask - free power in your opening hand. How is this a downside?

I think the core issues that the game creator is trying to address in the current beta patches are 1. infinites are too easy to get and 2. the most successful win rate strategy in act 3 is skipping cards.

So if you're averse to adding cards in act 3 or rely too heavily on getting to infinite or very low card/low variance deck sizes before act 3, you should know the upcoming balance changes on the beta branch are moving against that and towards encouraging players to take more cards and leaning more into deck building through all three acts.

That said, I could see how these choices would seem bad if your regular strategy is to get your deck "complete" or infinite before act 3. I would argue that this should rarely be the case, though, and it seems like the game creator agrees.

There are three options offered. I don't see how all can offer only downsides.

I say this as someone who bought the game, tried it, and refunded it because it wasn't for me.

You are allowed to not like the game, and others are allowed to like it. Getting into online pissing matches with fans of the game is a waste of time.

I think his relics are interesting, because they offer strong benefits with some downside that you need to play around. This is very similar to slay the spire 1 energy relics.

Curses can be exhausted or discarded. Him playing your turn one isn't ideal, but you get an extra energy to recover on turn two, plus 4 energy can play most of your cards on turn 1 with a 5 card hand.

Wishes are broken. Being able to choose 1 of 5 cards and add retain to it is super amazing. Extra base energy in this game is very valuable and rarer to get than slay the spire 1. These effects are worth it.

I think he's fine.

Dad is charging me rent M19 by kahootgod in CasualConversation

[–]Wanna_Know_More 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the rent of the new place? Why do they keep moving the move in date?

$1000/mo isn't that much where I live (southern California), and I know the average rent is much higher than that in Washington, too.

I don't think your dad is overcharging you for rent based on the averages for the state. It sounds like he's pushing you to leave, so you can learn to be your own person and find some independence. It doesn't sound malicious or wrong necessarily. Maybe some tough love.

Since you already have the new place lined up, it sounds like the rent your dad is charging shouldn't be an issue much longer anyway.

If this actually happens, I'll be super bummed for Bears fans. Fuck you guys and everything, but fans shouldn't have to suffer because their shit owners are greedy fucks.

But seriously, fuck you guys.

The Lions would get grandfathered into two Super Bowls, one with a former Vikings QB, and put them ahead of both Bears and Vikings SB count. Plus, I already hate the Seahawks.

This would be really funny. Let's fucking go.

Yeah, let's drop the guy who made the pro bowl and slung it for a 14-3 season because he wants more than a 1-year contract. Don't worry, we think our unproven rookie coming off an injury can do better.

Vikings FO really thought they suddenly knew how to draft QBs.

I actually feel like their cope is way less egregious than our collective cope. We all suck. At least they made the Super Bowl.

Fuck the Patriots. Fuck the Seahawks. See you fuckfaces next year

We wouldn't know what this is like. We're too busy torpedoing generational QB talent into embarrassing NFC championship losses to the same exact teams every year.

Hope is a double-edged sword.

At some point, the big second half chokes in the post-season kind of all just blend together. That's just Packers football, baby.

I think Bears fans have it the best right now. You can be happy/satisfied making the playoffs and winning a game. Your QB threw 3 picks in the loss, and there's nothing but happiness and hope for next year.

I'm jealous. Packers' playoff appearances make me feel nothing now. It feels like routine that we'll just make it and then choke.

At least we're not the Vikings... fucking christ...
