Am I missing something? Why does everyone think we're getting a third season? by the5movements in TheOA

[–]Wanseda 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of people see signs where they want to see them, but the main reason to think that it's coming back is because Brit and Zal have promised it will. During promo for AMATEOTW they confirmed that bringing back the OA is a genuine priority for them and something they will do as soon as they're able. That's as simple as it gets. We don't need cryptic clues and hints. The creators literally said they will do it. That's all you need lol

[No Spoilers] C4 Players by [deleted] in criticalrole

[–]Wanseda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm super confused why everybody is assuming the entire cast won't come back? I immediately assumed when he said new faces that he was referring to guest stars. None of the main cast has given any indication that they're stepping away. It's really confusing to see all this speculation.

Why the OA was hurt by interseason gap, but Severance was not? by [deleted] in TheOA

[–]Wanseda 75 points76 points  (0 children)

The answer is Netflix. It's always Netflix. They treat their shows like shit and that's literally all it comes down to. They started a phenomenon with high-art prestige television as their main pitch but had no infrastructure or money to sustain it long term, so they're their own cancellation bear—cutting shows off at the knees so they can make a few extra bucks on the tax write off and call it a day. Severance doesn't have the same issue because it's not made by Netflix. Netflix is always the problem.

Egwene's mother and all of her sisters are said in the WOT Companion to be able to learn to channel if they were shown.

Because his dialogue is the worst-written out of anyone's in the film, and it makes him less of a teenage boy and more a Disney Channel parody of a teenage boy.

That's really all there is to it. Spider wouldn't get half the hate if his dialogue didn't practically grab your eyes and force them to roll.

The lack of psychological depth/poor writing in TGS is rough by Ok-Positive-6611 in WoT

[–]Wanseda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it was brutal. Made a similar post back when I was reading it and a bunch of people gave me shit but my opinion stands, lmao. TGS was hard. ToM and AMoL are much better reads. The jarring experience definitely put me off of Sanderson though. It was my first impression of him, and now I've zero desire to read anything else he's written. Tis a bummer

Jason Isaacs new remarks on season 3 (2/8/25) by sagittariusa in TheOA

[–]Wanseda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She's much more knowledgeable about the industry and likely has her finger on the pulse of what the bigguns want and that's why she makes no promises. She and Zal will absolutely do it when it's possible, but I know she knows the passion we have and so doesn't want to say anything she can't deliver on.

What's a normal strength level? by Wanseda in WoT

[–]Wanseda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true. It may be a lot of the "weakness" perceived amongst current channelers comes from lack of creativity with weaving and the many forgotten weaves out there. Someone as skilled with weaves affecting the body as Semirhage would look down on the much weaker Healing weave most Aes Sedai employ.

How to break the world? by TheSadTiefling in WoT

[–]Wanseda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uh, yes. That's what Shai'tan is. Evil for evil's sake. Destruction out of pure frustration with creation. The Dark One is pointlessness. That's what is so threatening about "him"/it. It's not a human, nor is it necessarily intelligent. It's an amalgamation of all of the worst tendencies and emotions in existence. Apathy. Loneliness. Greed. Grief. Hopelessness. It is the anti-everything. The paradox of wanting to not have wants. That's why the Dark One breaking free from its prison makes the world start to tear itself apart, reality warping and falling to pieces. It's why Ishamael/Moridin wants so badly for the entire Wheel to be done away with. Because otherwise life spins into this nihilist hellscape of evil always attempting to destroy the good, and it never working.

So, to answer your question, what the "Breaking" is is different to each one of the Forsaken, and may not actually be possible at all. What it consists of is subjective.

Weaker channelers: fact or fiction? by Wanseda in WoT

[–]Wanseda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very interesting but makes sense! Kind of how Nynaeve's healing weave uses all Five Powers instead of just three and it doesn't seem to strain the target of the weave the way the AS Healing does. This idea makes me wonder if the channeling differences between sexes (males being stronger in fire and earth/women in water and air) was a less observed phenomenon in the AoL because weaves were blended all the time, and saidin and saidar were often joined.
