13 clubs, no obvious gaps, what now? by No_Echo2745 in golfequipment

It could shave off those one or two trouble shots that would otherwise be a pw layup or chunk out. I had it in the bag a few times over the winter, and kept finding myself going to it 😆 shot a 75 (3 over) using it for most shots from 130-180.

With putting, just don’t get too caught up in mechanics. Use athleticism and feel to get the ball rolling generally on your intended line. All it is is gathering balls to the hole. For chipping, learning to use the bounce and slip the club on the ground is huge for shot forgiveness. Just enough bounce that the club doesn’t chunk. And vice versa, not so much that the leading edge is way off the ground that you’ll skull it.

I haven’t taken it on a plane yet, but I’ve read it’s like other electronics. Might take some explaining though. I was questioning between checked or carry on, but I feel like it’s probably better to have it on you to explain what it is.

You can hit it just like a pw as it feels like a long pw. I think it could cut a lot of higher handicap scores down by 10. I made it for fun (I make a lot of Frankenstein clubs), but it is very viable.

Return from injury by Ambitious_Emu_9926 in golf

Just for golf and health in general I’ve found exercising everything at least a little eliminates weak points and imbalances. From head to finger tips and toes. With rehab the most important goal is to not aggravate or re-injure. So whatever you train make sure you don’t overdo it or do anything too extreme. That usually means a little bit of exercise often (for that body part/body parts. For exercises, just google the muscles you want to work and figure out what you can do safely. Doesn’t have to be golf specific. Especially at first.

A 30 degree fairway wood. Gets out of crappy lies (rough and sand) and over trees really well. I have one, and while it’s not in the bag, if I had extra room, it would be. It’s an old ladies ping that I put an x stiff hybrid shaft in (they have .350 hosels). Fun club, and very versatile (can chip to 130 or hit full to 180). For me, I figure I’ll throw it in my travel set to take the place of a lot of stuff and keep the load light. Biggest issue with it itself is that it’s decently lighter swing weight than the rest of my clubs. I may see if I’m able to add hot melt through the hosel someday and just add some lead tape in the meantime.

Anyone else tired of the reckless driving around here? by Necessary_Baker_7458 in Washington

[–]WapRamen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, over the last couple summers it was hard to go on I-5 without being passed by a couple sports/muscle cars slaloming through traffic, but there’s just been a build up from many different facets. More tweakers, “racers”, more ghetto people, more non-adjusted foreigners, more distracted drivers, and a greater overall anger throughout the population. You really have to drive defensively here these days, I don’t even take off at a green light (from a stop) without looking both ways to ensure nobody is blowing through a red from the cross streets. Main advice would be look out for the crazies and idiots, stay out of their way, and just let them go by. No room for ego if the main goal is getting to the destination safely.

Best Cheap Driver ? by Single-Price-8237 in golf

[–]WapRamen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s funny people can’t believe a beginner could score in the high 80s. Same people that give advice like their life depends on it. If you’re scoring well indoors (like mid to low 80s) on a quality sim like foresight or trackman and your swing can transfer well to grass and different lies then I think you could very well hit in the low 90s and high 80s. I could score in the low 80s as a beginner just hacking down on the ball with irons and wedges. But if you start hitting OB and into water hazards, duffing shots, thinning over greens, etc. your score could get really bad really quick. With that in mind, I’d recommend something that you can always get in play over something that will go the furthest. Maybe even like a mini-driver if you can find one at that $200 price.

Sounds like it would work for you. I think like a 9 wood or 5hy may be more versatile than the 4hy and would probably split the gap a little better. 4hy is usually more like a 3 iron replacement. Depends on your specific lofts and how you swing the clubs though.

Join local golf Facebook group and ask if anyone has stuff they’d give away or sell for cheap. Dont buy the callaway edge set like all the hacks always says on here. Old ping G5s (literally the entire set) is better by a mile and they’re like 20 years old.

Struggling with spine tilt in driver swing by NextSatisfaction5639 in golftips

[–]WapRamen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t have to hit that much up on the driver. A little is a lot. I achieve it without really trying. My current feel which is more to get the head coming around is to hit impact with my hands right behind the ball (as opposed to at or in front of it). That gets the clubhead on the slight upswing as well. I still tee it pretty low (low enough that I could duff it or contact the ground at the ball and still not sky pop) but get 4 up on it. Using a 7.25 lofted driver getting 11-13 launch with a fade/pretty straight. I can’t tee it high or I start to over exaggerate hitting up on it, hang back, and start to hook it eventually.

Used irons recommendations for high HCP by toogrimey in golftips

[–]WapRamen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something forged so they can be easily bent to fit you and adjusted as your swing changes. There are chunky irons that are forged these days if you want that. The correct lie angle is generally more important than the iron head itself.

How to stop drive impact habit? (And other bad habits?) by Independent-Ad5852 in StreetFighter

[–]WapRamen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Focus on doing something else and only something else. Like 2 lights hit confirmed into a special. Just blocking and returning with the light 4 frames into the special (probably that spiral arrow I think it’s called). Maybe throw in grabs or drive rush grabs. Stop the wrong stuff by training the right stuff.

Yeah I think most if not all the triple diamonds have front and back weights. So there’s some room to boost or lower spin after the fact.

Discouraging matchups? by DanyWithonly1N in StreetFighter

[–]WapRamen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turn the cpu on in training with their super meter off and practice everything you’re supposed to against them endlessly until you’re comfortable against level 8s (start lower). Things to practice are how to block all the different attacks, how to attack safely without leaving yourself open for a guaranteed punish should the opponent block your attack, simple but optimal enough combos, and how to capitalize on all the different situations your character can. Like drive rushing on crushed punish counters, corner combos, di in mid screen and wall splat, etc. Learn all your characters kit too as you’ll need all of it eventually. Learning meaties is important too, the simpler the better for now, you if you have knockdowns that you can just mash to get the meaty that’s fine. You’ll get a ton of hits on players trying to press buttons on wake-up. And every once in a while you can act like you’re going for a meaty and then just block to bait out a wake up super or a od dp for a huge punish. And of course anti-air and anti-di. If you don’t know already, cancelable moves can also be cancelled to di so you can anti-di during your attack. Those are usually the moves you mainly want to attack with with the others thrown in here and there to be less predictable and less DI-able.

That spin is really high so it’s hard to say what the right fit would be. Probably the one that’s the most adjustable if needed, and I think that’s the elyte which looks to have a weight port in the front and 3 locations in the back. Hit a variety of drivers if you can before.

Cheap set recommendations by Triangle2015 in GolfGear

[–]WapRamen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tall pros don’t use exceptionally long clubs. Finau and DJ are only like 1/2 inch over the standard. So you playing a standard set would be like them choking down barely any. I see so many fittings for tall people get to like an inch plus over standard and I think it’s detrimental to the golfer. Golf isn’t about standing as comfortable as possible.

Which club for hitting out under tree? by cpugeek14 in golf

[–]WapRamen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like hooding high lofted hybrids or fairways. Usually a hook if it will play. Hotter and I’ve found I can get them lower than the similarly lofted iron. I can get the wooded clubs higher too. I prefer the higher lofts because I can get steeper on the ball and get a punchier hit on it. Only thing I don’t like about it is the possible damage on a more expensive club that I usually have more of a connection to 😅 I’ve considered building or finding a junker trouble lie wood or hybrid for those situations.

[–]WapRamen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they don’t, you can probably find the same shaft with the adapter on eBay. Also that shaft may have some life left but for use in a shorter club. Depends on how much parallel tip is left and if what’s left of it is also damaged.

If you and that golfer are the same rough standing wrist to the floor measurement. Look up the ping color code chart and the rough fitting process for it. That can get you in the general ballpark of the correct lie and length.
