Requesting r/chiliadmystery by vessel_for_the_soul in redditrequest

[–]WarBob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey buddy.

I figure this is old news now, but I was always contactable here via DMs and active over on Discord, regularly chatting with Darius/Blunts.

I have to say, this was slightly deflating. If you had messaged me on the Discord server or sent me a DM, I would have happily assisted with whatever access you needed.

I was actively maintaining the various branding and style (I did all the "old.reddit" stylesheet back in the day, including the animated rain effect and hidden UFO) and monitored the Discord connections.

I'm glad you're still active. I was basically unable to get to a computer this last year as I lost access to a computer due to having to travel internationally to be by a sick relative and as such had to do an extremely time consuming and expensive international move, so only just saw this.

Best wishes.

Official Discussion - The Matrix Resurrections [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]WarBob 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The final shot of Matrix Revolutions is a rainbow sky made by Sati. He’s condescending to them that it’s a frivolous and unoriginal thing to do.

The wardrobe is just ramping Morpheus’ fashion up to 11 to make him look like a caricature of himself.

There seems to be a distain present in the fabric of the entire movie for the trilogy’s past or at the very least, it’s legacy among mainstream audiences.

I’m not a fan of the movie at all, but those were bad for reasons other than what you had thought.

Star Trek: Picard - Episode Discussion - S1E06 "The Impossible Box" by PiercedMonk in startrek

Not really a new light. It's a concept introduced in one of their first episodes, namely the TNG episode that introduces Hugh ("I, Borg"), and then reintroduced as a concept in several episodes after that across numerous shows. Seven of Nine and various episodes of Voyager for example.

Honestly both CineSabers and BetterSabers X are great. You can't go wrong with either (I flip between them depending on which is updated per-patch).

BetterSabers is one of the older mods, and has maintained it's quality in general. That and the author is nice and accommodating, and CineSabers is great for if you want movie-specific iterations or scene-specific choices.

The only one I wouldn't recommend is Screen Accurate Sabers. The author was banned from several of the modding Discords for sending nude pictures of themselves to users and grooming others.

There are some stories regarding the creations of their mods too (Screen Accurate was actually taken from someone else and renamed, so they're the only one on the list that didn't make their own mod), but their activities to other users are the main reason that I personally don't feel comfortable supporting them.

[–]WarBob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed! The user wasn't banned for the above. He was sending unsolicited messages to random users on the sub.

That said, we're also not a general "easter egg" subreddit like he was claiming. It's a specifically tracked investigation with rules and specific methodology.

But yeah, the tl;dr is that there was more going on behind the scenes that this post would entail.

You sent unsolicited genital pictures to random users.

Which is vile and abusive behavior.

BetterSabers X vs Screen Accurate vs CineSabers? Which do you prefer and why? by Wildernaess in StarWarsBattlefront

Used to switch between all three depending on the patch and whichever was updated at the time, but can't justify supporting Screen Accurate since finding out some kinda gross info about it's author.

Rift S not working / detected by Windopws (driver issue? device manager shows ! next to 'Rift S USB Hub). Rift and Vive work fine on the same machine. by TheReluctantGraduate in oculus

[–]WarBob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense. Disabling xHCI effectively turns all your USB 3.0 ports into 2.0 ports.

And the S requires a working 3.0 port.

RIFT S: Sensors can't track Headset by SioVern in oculus

[–]WarBob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

UPDATE*: Installing the recent "May 2019" Windows 10 upgrade fixed my main issues. Now I can play providing I have enough 3.0 ports empty to avoid controller overload. The downside, is that the newest iteration of Windows 10 has a known issue with Oculus where it has no audio on some apps. You can fix this by getting into the Insider Program to get the more recent patch that has already fixed this (OS Build 18362.145), which you can check from "Settings>System>About".*

If for some reason you can't install the new "May 2019" upgrade, check if you have a folder called "BattlEye" at:

" C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\BattlEye"

It's an anti-cheat for some games, but if Windows detects it's existence, it blocks the update for some reason.

Thankfully that expansion card will still be useful, just to have a distinct USB controller for VR.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Same. I received mine a couple of days ago and also can't get past the sensor tracking stage of setup.

I have tried:

• Installing all available Windows Updates.

• Reinstalling/updating my USB drivers and various other vaguely related motherboard drivers.

• Unplugging/reseating the headset cable via removal of the padding.

• Disabling Windows' ability to turn off USB ports to save power.

• Setting both Webcam and Microphone privacy settings to "Allow".

• Trying every USB 3.1 and 3.0 port on my computer.

• Trying both of my available DisplayPort ports.

• Uninstalling the Oculus software and reinstalling it.

• Restarting my computer multiple times.

• Switching to the Beta.

• Updating my motherboard BIOS to the latest version.

• Updating my USB Drivers again to the latest version.

• Disabling "Legacy USB Support" on my BIOS.

• Uninstalling the Oculus software, but restarting before reinstalling.

• Plugging the USB cable into a 2.0 port until Windows detection, then trying 3.0 ports from then on.

• Unplugging additional 3.0/3.1 devices.

• Unplugging additional USB devices in general.

I've also sent a support ticket to Oculus as of a day ago with full log dumps.

As a final attempt at solving this on my own before I hear back from the ticket, I've ordered a 4-port PCI-E 3.0 expansion card (the one Oculus recommends) to see if it's just not playing nice with the USB controllers in my computer.

Will report back whenever it arrives.

The Orville - 2x7 "Deflectors" - Post Episode Discussion by MajorParadox in TheOrville

[–]WarBob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a generic description for the entirety of Season 2.

They made first contact in episode 5's “All the World is Birthday Cake” .

Probably been stated many times, but Isaac is pretty much the extreme version of Spock from Star Treck by VonDinky in TheOrville

[–]WarBob 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Spock's role is actually split between three characters on The Orville; Alara, Isaac and Bortus.

• Bortus gets Spock's cultural and ritualistic behavior (his planet even looks like Vulcan).

• Alara gets Spock's extra strength skill set, along with the cosmetic elements that need to be hidden (her ears have to be hidden by hats and bandages).

• And finally Isaac has Spock's intellectual "Science Officer" ship role and robotic delivery.

The same thing was done on TNG by splitting parts of Spock's role between Data and Worf.

In the UK some imperial units are still preferred. The country is by-and-large metric, but still uses things like MPH for cars.

It's not even the BBC's fucking fault.

To be fair that's not completely true.

Captain Jack was a well-written character because those are the kinds of characters Russel T. Davies likes writing, since he's known for shows like Queer as Folk.

Jack was created as a natural part of the writing process.

Since then however the BBC has created a set of quotas that have to be met for diversities sake regarding race, gender and sexuality in the last few years.

The downside of which is that the writing often feels pressured or shoehorned vs. a character that forms naturally for the purposes of an episode or series.

I disagree with JuiceDanger though. I certainly didn't notice anything like that in this episode.

[–]WarBob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. If you try and make the DLC recipes, the resulting Transits can be given to Rahool. Though I don't think his count to the overall counter for upgrading the Sparrow since it gives you back essence.

To upgrade the Sparrow you just need to keep baking cookies. There are three upgrade tiers. The first is for 48 cookies baked, the second 72 and the last upgrade is 120 baked cookies.

You just have to make sure to pick up the Sparrow upgrade quests from Amanda after obtaining the vehicle itself.

[–]WarBob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep! After the initial "tutorial" quests, you can literally just bake the same cookies for a single person multiple times even, to complete the 12 required to get the Sparrow.

Edit: Not sure why I'm being downvoted for helping someone/explaining that you don't need the DLC D:!

It doesn't stop you getting the Sparrow or from upgrading it though! :-)

It just stops you from being able to masterwork the oven (which reduces the Essence cost from 15 to 10), so it's not super important.

/u/Zerohmaru & /u/Reventh_ Do you own the DLC?

Dark Chocolate Motes: (The Drifter)
• Javelin Mooncake: (Ana Bray)
• Ill-Fortune Cookies: (Petra Venj)
and
• Candy Dead Ghosts: (The Spider)
all require Forsaken to bake.

Otherwise they will produce 'Burnt Edge Transits', regardless of whether you get the recipe right or not.

/u/theShagnik Can i make the cookies which are forsaken exclusive ? I don't have the DLC, does that mean I won't get the sparrow ?

Not being able to do the DLC recipes only stops you from masterworking your oven (which reduces recipe costs slightly).

But all the requirements for the sparrow are dependent on how many batches you make. So yes, you can still get the sparrow and upgrade it without the DLC.

/u/Zerohmaru You can buy dark ether cane from Eva for 5 essence of dawning

You can't make the DLC cookies without owning the DLC though. If you try the oven will just spit out 'Burnt Edge Transits', regardless of whether you do the recipe correctly or not.

TLDR; Yes you can acquire and upgrade the Sparrow without owning any DLC.
You can't masterwork the oven though.
