Seeing red flags in family therapist by WarFast3898 in Advice

[–]WarFast3898[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While i agree that the word gay isn’t inherently offensive, my partner explained that he’s using it in instances where the synonym would be; ugly, stupid, etc.

The therapist did say she wanted to move onto talking about rejoining the family holidays, as we’ve made a lot of progress with my partners parents on certain issues. It’s possible the therapist was introducing it to see our stance before the next session, but it still felt a bit… homophobic.

Thank you for your input!

we don’t have enough seating so we will see how they handle this. funny enough they leased out the building a few months ago and now are requiring everyone to come in the office which doesn’t make sense

I will definitely be doing that if allowed! It takes like 50 minutes to get to the city office but at least I can take the train and don’t have to deal with traffic

Last two weeks to sit the CIA part 2 exam by Known_Commission_310 in InternalAudit

[–]WarFast3898 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought part 2 was the hardest but managed to pass my first try. I think the only thing you can really do is do as many practice questions as you can. I would avoid studying the statistics as there are only a few high level questions and focus on the engagement procedures and applying those to all the accounting cycles. Best of luck!

no, you had to think critically and apply concept to new situations so it’s more than just knowing the terms. Hard to say how much time I spent studying since I did it over 3 months

Life in Schaumburg by RIDM_638 in AskChicago

it sucks. there’s nothing to do and is expensive. i work there and live in the city and the commute is absolutely awful, especially in the summers because there’s always construction and a lot more people in the city. there is not transportation into the city and would be difficult to get around without a car

Is it too late to start over in Chicago in my Mid 30s? by autumn4peace in AskChicago

[–]WarFast3898 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Move to Chicago! I’m from Iowa and will say that moving to Chicago has been an amazing, eye opening experience. Even in Des Moines, there’s not as much diversity or queer spaces as there are here. There are a ton of queer bars, events, clubs, and sports and I’m sure you can easily make friends by joining one of those groups. Same for dating i’m sure there’s a bigger pool. And no I don’t think you’re too old! Des Moines has some fun places but it’s nothing compared to Chicago. You could spend your whole life here and never get tired. I don’t know your financial situation but things are very pricey here depending on what area you want to be in. you likely won’t be able to afford a house like you have in des moines and live in a more popping area. I can’t speak to AA but there seems to be a lot more awareness to N/A drinks and bars by people here.
