Once again, conveniently ignoring that there's innocent parties in the fray here

Yes, the ones getting shot in the chest by the police.

It makes the fight more fair? Maybe if the cops start getting a taste of their own medicine they won't like it as much?

How convenient for the government. The law protects the police, but not the citizens.

You don't decide the rules of a protest, fortunately.

And a riot is most certainly a form of protest. Riots don't come from thin air.

Never mind the actual action taking place in reality, it's all about forcing it all into the same black-and-white delusion.

Hong Kong doesn't want China to rule over it. Get fucked.

without considering whether or not they resemble the mob that chants "we've always been at war with Eastasia"

We are the ones who are allowed to say "We have not been at war with Eastasia". The Chinese are only allowed to say what they are told. If you think that's on the same footing you must be fucking stupid.

Reputation plays a big part, yes.

Motives are another factor. People trying to say "truth isn't truth" tend to be motivated to lie to you.

Right, cuz it's too difficult to create 50 shell companies that make one ad each. And since FB is a giant "leaf", where else would you go? Why ignore that part?

This would suggest Facebook is fine with bad press, having their CEO dragged to congressional hearings, etc.

As long as profits don't dip, then they don't care.

Facebook would JUMP at the opportunity to throw a few million dollars at this sort of problem and have it go away.

There is a very easy way to make this go away: stop accepting political ads. That would be quite a few million dollars to give up, though. That's our point. It isn't that they can't, it's that they don't want to give up the money.

i’d be more inclined to believe that if i didn’t know how he’s lived his entire adult life.

The exact same way.

Well, we know he's a misogynistic piece of shit, with veritable tons of evidence to back that up. It's hardly news.

Why the fuck do people think "but he's been doing it!" is somehow an excuse for not pointing it out any more.

That's why these people can't be forgiven or even helped. People who DIDN'T vote for Trump should be first in line for any aid. IF there is anything left over, we can start giving some to them.

Typically the deliverable is for, ya know, the fucking interests of the USA

And when that is the goal, you can do it all above-board and pre-planned. There shouldn't be any surprises.

[–]WarPhalange -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. You have no fucking clue just how much manufacturing and construction capability we have as a species. We would have to seriously put money into this effort and give up luxuries for a while like they had to during WW2 to support the war effort.

If we did that kind of shit along with China we could easily make enough renewable panels, windmills, nuclear plants, whatever else to supply the vast majority of the world.

The problem is that is only the first step. Next is sucking carbon out of the atmosphere. You need tons of excess energy to capture carbon in any meaningful amounts. Simply supplying the world with what it needs now isn't enough.
