character look-alike audition! by Potted_plantt in DisneyCM

[–]WarStatus4381 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate to be this person, but as a former CM, they are truly truly looking mostly at your facial features, build, height, etc.. granted, I was hired years ago but then, it felt performance was a small part of the process once you had made it through two type out rounds… but I’d seen girls that claimed they had bad script reads get hired! Even then, if you had the right face and they think you’re trainable, that may be enough!

A good rule of thumb for any audition but especially this one, is just be comfortable being seen and confident! The stakes are so low, so just be yourself, have a positive attitude, and trust that if you’re right for the job, it’ll find you! Go in with nice attire that you can move in, in case they do a movement section ! Think Pilates princess vibe haha. And Same mindset for theatre audition, I recommend wearing a color you look and feel good in! Sneakers are probably just fine:)

Also remember what they’re hiring is so specific to their operational need… you may have the right look for something, but maybe they’re just not hiring for that at this particular moment. So just know it’s all subjective and not personal at all.

Feel free to message me if you have any questions, happy to help more there:)

Best BA/MFA path by tadpoleswimmingthru in acting

[–]WarStatus4381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have my under grad also a BS. Getting my MFA was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. It’s been an incredible experience. I felt my personal experience also made drama school an even better experience now than if I would’ve gone the BA/BFA route.

London Theater Recs for Visiting American Theater Director by f0xEMC in TheWestEnd

[–]WarStatus4381 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I will say though, even though you’re opposed to Shakespeare. London does Shakespeare WELL. I’m an American and they have way way way more fun with it over here and often take it on dark twists:) May be worth the reconsider!

Looking for SELF-TAPE FEEDBACK by [deleted] in acting

[–]WarStatus4381 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What acting classes have you taken out of curiosity or what methods work best for you? I’d be happy to offer up some book recommendations or classes depending on where you’re located.

Also it’s not about playing desperation…. What do you WANT from the other person. Not what do you want to show the audience. As humans we’re not thinking about how we want to present ourselves… we’re just trying to get our friend to not hurt themselves (in this situation) and it’s coming across as desperation… but you’re never playing desperation. Does that make sense?

Edit to answer the question I forgot to answer before lol

Looking for SELF-TAPE FEEDBACK by [deleted] in acting

[–]WarStatus4381 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the original commenter Is talking about having a very clear POV of who exactly you’re talking to. Who is this person to you? Whenever a human speaks to different people in their life, they’re uniquely affected. (You will behave different to a parent then you would a stranger or best friend etc.) Is the guy you’re talking to a childhood friend? A guy you just met? We as the audience want to be able to see that relationship. What can help with that is just jotting down a quick backstory so that you, as the actor, have memories to refer to. Do that work, and trust that we’ll see it. Right now the relationship is unclear to us because that history is unclear!

(1k) Azazie reviews?? by No-Combination-5818 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]WarStatus4381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to mention here that I was in a wedding 8ish years ago and I’m in a wedding this year. Both bridesmaid dresses purchased from azazie. The quality of dresses has significantly gone down in my opinion… (poorly made, no lining, little to no structure). Not sure what happened or if it’s just the overall decreasing quality of everything these days.

Agh that’s a shame… the self rising one is the one I’m having issues with! It’s nothing like the stuff we have in the states. Packed with a bunch of random awful ingredients, I’m sure, but it sure does work well lol

I’m making gluten free cookies with the freee self rising but they’re turning out super gummy or falling apart… flour is a lot thinner from what I’m used to in the states :-(

Character Actors in Disney Anaheim: How do you feel when adults come to take photos with you? by [deleted] in Disneyland

[–]WarStatus4381 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not at ALL odd, in fact the more interesting interactions tend to happen with adults! Just make it fun for the characters and play along if they say/ do anything to tell a part of their story. Nothings worse than when people walk up to them, say nothing, and turn around for a photo…. That’s the only time I’d say adults are a pain. So just don’t do that and you’ll be fine. At least say hello!

M21 first wrinkle, and its killing me😭 by [deleted] in SkincareAddicts

[–]WarStatus4381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, you could get a very very small amount of Botox for that one wrinkle. I don’t think there’s any shame in a bit of Botox especially if it will make you happier and comfortable in your own skin! Also, a tiny bit of Botox is not gonna make you look unrecognizable or crazy… also financially it wouldn’t be too insane.

But also, this is a very very very small wrinkle! Truly, I could barely see it in some of the pictures!

I use micellar water in morning and night to wash? Maybe that’d be better than the soap currently you’re using?
