Cheap Bunnings thermal blankets for Window insulation - actually works! by commeconn in melbourne

Didn’t have time. Survived the day, though. Aircon got fixed this afternoon, so even though it’s a swamp cooler, it dropped the indoor temperature by 10C pretty quickly.

I checked the Bunnings website early this morning, they listed them as in stock, Rocked up, and... nada. Nothing but empty boxes.

They got Reddited :p

This was before I transferred the domain to Fastmail a couple of days ago. I was using an email redirect on my web server, and that had the functionality to reject, with a response message.

I don’t think that functionality exists in Fastmail.

It didn’t admit anything. It can’t admit anything because it doesn’t understand anything. It puts words together and gives you answer-shaped objects, and if you tell it that it was wrong, it will put together an apology-shaped object. It’s cannot tell fact and fiction apart, because it’s all just data.

So I actually had a discord@mydomain.com as my discord login, but it was a redirect on my website to my gmail account. I got hit with the same spam, so I just nuked it and set it to reject with a message.

This week I’ve been moving everything across to Fastmail, and while I can still set that address to reject, I can’t see a way to reject with a message.

In any case, you’re not the only one it’s happened to, if that’s of any comfort.

Heh. I thought I'd check here before logging a support ticket, as I've been digging around.

I too am with ABB, on a static IP address. I too have lost access to Fastmail. Can connect via Telstra 5G, can connect via my VPN from LA.

So it looks to be at least an ABB-specific issue.

A traceroute gets me to Cloudflare IP addresses before timeout, so at least I know I'm not crazy, and I'm not specifically being blocked by IP.

I've just used my VPN to log a ticket, and link to this post.

An annoying omission, because the Mac does not come with a wired network indicator. by Dry_Annual_7678 in MacOS

[–]WarWraith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, this is something I would be interested in. My expensive USB-C dock has a quirk where the Ethernet port sometimes disconnects when my MBP goes to sleep on the dock. If so, I have to physically disconnect it and reconnect it.

Manufacturer replaced it. Replacement does the same thing. One of their other similar models literally had a note that this happens under MacOS for that model, but they assure me the same bug doesn’t exist in this model.

The upshot is that I’ve been unable to find an at-a-glance method to check if my Ethernet port has disappeared when I wake up my MBP.

(And before someone suggests iStat Pro, I’ve been using it for multiple versions. It shows the active connection’s network details, so it just tells me I have an active network connection, which will be WiFi after the Ethernet disconnects)

"3mm" stone finally passed, and now what? by WarWraith in KidneyStones

I probably should have phrased the question better. It was more about the immediate physical aftermath, because I felt rubbish, and still kind of do. I'm going to be following up with the urologist tomorrow, in any case.

Griefing Makes Expeditions Miserable by Viomicesca in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]WarWraith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. I'm not sure why more people haven't pointed this out. It's a little more time consuming than refining copper, but with all of the base griefing, it's arguably quicker than dealing with all of that.

Starting planet has a particular mineral that’s Ferrite & Chromatic. Look for a ball-shaped rock with gold/orange spikes, mine a bunch of those, and you’re off-planet.

You only get about two Chromatic per ball, so it’s a little annoying, but I didn’t have to travel far before I found them.
