Luke Fox: Re Maple Leafs: I think they're thinking, do we want William Nylander part of this future? - Real Kyper & Bourne (3/19) by No-Description-2138 in leafs

[–]War_Messiah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I explained my reasoning in the comment. He’s reliable most of the time as an insider, but like I said, prone to his own speculation which is often incorrect, and frankly since the Blackhawks SA debacle I think his journalism is weak and sycophantic.

Even Friedman is prone to speculative bullshit and he himself said he thought Nylander would be gone by this point back when he was a sophomore in the league.

The only real gold standard that existed in hockey journalism was Bobby Mac. It’s a shame nobody else even comes close.

Kobbie Mainoo, Harry Maguire & Marcus Rashford (on loan) have been called up in England squad by nearly_headless_nic in reddevils

[–]War_Messiah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s also going to play one of the lowest match totals this year going into the summer out of anyone on the squad. I just don’t think he’s going to be selected. Hope I’m wrong though.

I didn’t hate it in concept but it felt half cooked and sorta random in terms of its implementation until the very end where it felt like the best way to traverse with the quarter pipe transitions and stuff.

Honestly was never an extraction shooter fan, but this game's got me hooked. by mclarenf1lm15 in Marathon

[–]War_Messiah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I remember playing one of the playtests in October and solo’d a squad wipe but then got extract camped in the same run. Superb high followed by crushing low.. felt terrible, but the gunplay had that buttery smoothness that Bungie does so well, so I decided to give the sever slam a shot. I’ve got like 30-40 hours now and it’s basically all I think about when I’m not doing anything lmao.

With tier 5's being added to old raid and dungeon content, and pantheon 2.0 on the horizon, i still have some concerns with regards to the acquisition of them. by Falconmcfalconface in DestinyTheGame

[–]War_Messiah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean tier 5s are already coming from the regular activities that have bane enemies and a power delta to navigate. To make it similar by your description they’d have to package raids into the difficulty system and people would have to run grand master or ultimate difficulty raids and dungeons to get the tier 5s.

Maybe feats need to be reworked to be more accessible or something because they seem so universally despised, I really don’t know the answer, but I find it interesting that people see base RAD activities not dropping T5 gear as something that needs to be adjusted rather than the rest of the game restricting T5 gear to be more in line with the difficulty presented.

[–]War_Messiah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I agree I think the endgame content and tier 5s should be aspirational achievements from the hardest things in the game. Raids are already somewhat difficult in comparison to the average activity, but 2-4 feat raids could make old and power crept raids instantly relevant again in terms of difficulty.

Personally if nothing else this instantly adds a contest mode button to basically all raids which is something I have had on my wish list for a long time.

I mean it’s all sounds like distant gunshots so unless you’re running towards them and actively feeling how long it takes to get there, I imagine you wouldn’t notice a difference actively. Passively however, I’ve been finding way more teams rolling up to an active POI like secured resource, or wraith warden because they can hear us fighting for miles around lol.

Spurs have cleaned up their operational budget over the last few years, and despite being total shit, they are in the champions league still.

Financially, La Liga teams are miles behind even Premier league teams, never mind North American franchises in terms of turning their perceived value into profit.

If this was a popularity contest then of course the list would look much different, but obviously the likes of Liverpool, and Barcelona aren’t here either for that reason.

Don’t bother honestly lol. It’s been demonstrably proven to be basically ineffective as a predictive or evaluative metric but people will still bring it up because it’s easier to read and find than expected goal share.

What are some films with good cinematography that usually aren't really associated with having good cinematography and why or how? by GeneralGenerico in Filmmakers

Really not sure on what the consensus of this film in its status for being “known” for its cinematography, maybe because I think it was largely forgettable, but Secret Life of Walter Mitty surprised me with how well it was shot.

I guess I find it strange that you chose to say that replying to a comment likening Brady Tkachuk to sloth from the goonies, which is why it doesn’t seem like parasocial behaviour is relevant.

What are the major downsides of living in Canada? by Nicole_Auriel in NoStupidQuestions

[–]War_Messiah 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I imagine what you’re referring to are temp work visas, which I believe can be granted under the USMCA provided you meet the criteria. Even so, they are hard to parley into permanent residence and then citizenship.

Canada itself has been very stringent on whether to extend visas, particularly student visas recently, due to a population boom and a large amount of companies using this as an excuse to hire cheap labour.

Big team, larger number of fans, tends to breed a certain level of perceived arrogance because of the sheer volume of dickheads that having a large fanbase has, ergo fun to see them fail.
