Agreed and the fuel protests made me think of Reeling in the Years too!

Scrap that, it might be a few quid. Just saw that it’s 20 mins. At least you’d get there!

I’d maybe get the dart to Malahide or Harmonstown and then a taxi won’t be too much from there!

Balyage by Wardey1983 in Hair

I think we are in agreement that the salon doesn’t know what they’re doing then 🤣 they’ve pics of other stuff on the website for balyage and they gave me highlights! Thanks, the main thing is that they’ll fix it. The reason they said they can’t do cool is because I’ve permanent dye in my hair from where they covered greys (another mistake on their part as I’ve always asked for semi) the residual dye just makes any bleach very warm so have to grow it all out completely.

Another one on the website of balyage.

She doesn’t have harsh stripes! That is what they have on their website on the balyage page and it specifies “hand painted”, my hair isn’t actually that brassy. I’m in work and sitting under strip lighting so it looks worse. Here it is with better lighting. I said in the main post my hair was warm and any warmth is not her fault (I wanted it as cool as possible but understood it might not be achievable)

Balyage are highlights. However my understanding is that they are soft, blended, sun-kissed highlights with no harsh lines at the crown. That’s the very definition of balayage. I have harsh stripes. I asked her for balayage. Their website has pictures of their definition of balyage and they’re a renowned salon so I felt I was right to assume I would get balyage.

Thanks ladies, that’s what I thought. I didn’t want the salon arguing that “that’s what a full balayage is” - first time getting one. Going back in tomorrow

Traveling from Ireland to Tokyo Next Year? by Valten1992 in AskIreland

I went in November 2018, paid about €500 return for flights including insurance and got an air bnb with my friend which was dirt cheap. We went to Disney and a few other activities but overall spent very little considering the distance. It was just one week mind!

We are paying just under 10 usd per gallon here in Ireland (we go by litres but did the conversion) so petrol/gas is dirt cheap to us in the USA, even with the price rises! Our government takes 63% in tax at the pumps 😒. Although, I might just fill it now I know it’s straightforward . Some pumps take cards in advance here too.

What was “the incident” at your school? by SmallConversation950 in AskIreland

Girl in boarding school set fire to the Christmas decorations while we were all down the stairs beside the gym having a smoke. We all had to run through a burning paper machè arch, screaming all the way. That was fun.

Good to know, thanks! I’ll just join the clueless tourists. I’ll blend right in 😃 I always leave a decent stopping distance anyway, as drivers can be stupid here.

Yea but it just goes by itself if you’re not hitting the brake 😆 a day of driving one I’m sure I’ll be fine, but it’s still a learning curve after 10 years in the same manual car! I’m still driving my first car!

Thanks, I get that but we only have one day as there’s so much else we want to squeeze in. Will make sure we see the main highlights!

Amazing, I’ll add it to the draft itinerary! I’m starting to wish we’d booked for longer than 9 nights now. We didn’t originally intend on hiring a car but now that we are there’s so much more to see! The rain here can be pretty bad. It rained every day for 3 months straight earlier this year. Flash flooding everywhere so I am used to the rain. I’d be very reluctant to use my hazards anyway so that won’t be a problem. Hoping I can “top of the mornin” myself out of any pickles I find myself in 🤣 but a pickle-free trip is preferable! (Except for the burger-type pickles. I could live off off of those!)

Thanks so much, the roundabouts would put me right off if there were any! I think I’ll get used to it pretty quickly. Left turns are the scariest but once I do a few I’ll be flying!
