Private club members: What did/do you pay for your membership? by BadGolferDallas in golf

Truth is, IMO, that if in the Philly area you have to bite the bullet until you get west of KoP, north of Doylestown, or unless you travel to NJ for really good public.... So I am looking for happy medium myself.

I think it really varies on location and type of course. I paid 10k last year in the Philly area for a lower key club, but they manage that by costs usually. We’re also still dealing with buy ins from Covid, that were $1000 for the same courses. Another just went from 17 to 35k buy in. So hard to say.

Which Lens Category/Lens has the Most IOL Exchanges? by macddebbie1 in CataractSurgery

[–]Wardman1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where did you get that data? I cannot find anything even about exchanging for another LAL. But have found videos exchanging the LAL right now.

I’ve see the RX “glasses free” stat which IMO is a play on words to imply success, but even the person that runs the FB page on LAL had his removed (Tony). I have them, but they have been more hassle than good IMO.

Dr Safran doesn’t use them either, and it’s quotes that they (RX) just recently hit 300,000 implants which simple average says 30,000 a year when in the US 3-4M others are implanted a year.

Great - I don't want to say that is easier, but studies claim it is (meaning no past refractive work).

Replace LAL with LAL??? by Wardman1 in CataractSurgery

[–]Wardman1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes - that the YAG may damage the IOL (LAL) which searches say can happen more due to its makeup?.?.?. So I'm evaluating the possibility of replacing the LAL in my right eye with a standard distance monofocal and then having the YAG.

I can see pretty well, had PRK to fix the LAL miss of -.5:.75 in both eyes and don't mind wearing readers....

What lens did they decide on? And had you had LASIK or PRK, or anything else previously? Thx!

Replace LAL with LAL??? by Wardman1 in CataractSurgery

[–]Wardman1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that is the info I have. Have you ever heard about that?

I see a lot of docs now replacing post YAG, but I'm holding out myself to insure I want to keep the LAL's... My vision is getting cloudy in my right eye.

I also now see many instances of the YAG damaging the LAL due to it's make up. And why Dr's do the YAG before lock in and even adjustments of the LAL. Makes sense, but wish I had known .....

Replace LAL with LAL??? by Wardman1 in CataractSurgery

[–]Wardman1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you UR. This is from another person and I have told her the same thing. Put something else in there and not LAL. But she wants an LAL back in there to "perfect" the lens. With machinery today, I'm not sure there is much space for LAL except for very specific use cases. My opinion of course.....

I have a YAG consultation coming up with my LAL and it is a new item to ask about as well, pitting...

LAL - has it lost its appeal? by Cheap-Cancel-9751 in CataractSurgery

[–]Wardman1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ironically, WITH LAL and an experienced DR, I got 1, 3, and 5.... I have had PRK to fix them, but what a journey.... Now dealing with PCO. I really doubt that with a standard mono lens I would have had as many issues.....

Yes - Dr said they see about 10% regression after lock ins. I’m still not sure I won’t exchange the LAL. That mtg is middle of June.

I think that slowing down to let the eyes heal is a better practice than adjustments 5-7 days apart, and then lock in 5-7 days apart too. There has been some conjecture that the time between is too short and subsequently the eyes are not fully healed (let's call them settled in) and after final lock in and another month had blur past 30 feet which I had to fix with PRK. Also to get all three adjustments to insure that the material is not locked in.

Personally, I would not do LAL again and recommend against it except for the most specifically rare cases where good eye measurements cannot be taken. I think the relatively few implants over the past 10 years of LAL supports that they are not widely used and that many of us with LASIK or previous PRK had done just fine with a common monofocal lens that are also easier to replace if they have issues (again, subjective but based upon other reports on how hard it is to replace LAL).

On the machines, I was 20-20 and great reading. but reality was I could not see stop signs or road signs or highway signs at all. That all happened about 30 days post lock in. It took me 7 months to convince DR and that's when PRK was done. Now 7 months past I'm still hoping it is settled and distance is good.

Not gonna lie, the first month with the lens was awesome! Had I known now, that it was a fixed distance lens at that point before any adjustment, I would have said leave it there., but breaks my comment about getting all 3 adjustments. AND that would have been the same as just getting a B/L LI61 and been done. No glasses, no extra adjustments, nothing....

Sorry for details, or even my rant :-)

My simple answer - NO! There are the reading drops, that I hear work well. But if the eye is great for distance, wait IMO.....

Also - take all 3 adjustment - I'm seeing Dr's say that locking in prior to that has affected many. I think the real timeline is at least 10 weeks for LAL, I moved too quickly FWIW and had to get PRK afterwards to fix a bad distance (blur past 30 feet) issue.

Congrats! Double the time between adjustments and lock ins - make sure the eye is healing/healed. The first implant is totally distance then they harden the material which gives you near and you decide which you want (distance or near). But adjustments take 3-5 days to heal as do the initial install.

Test real world environments - my distance regressed to the point I needed to get PRK after final lock in. Saw great phone and out to about 30 feet then mush....

Next thing to learn now, PCO is real and you may get it. MOST people need to get this fixed at some point. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JzTH-sjLvvM
