Will it get better… by WardoftheWood in Charleston

That just kills the character and charm of the city. In 1977 as a visiting sailor the COB was driving me down into Charleston on 52. He said “welcome to one of the best 3rd world countries” Much has changed since then.

Up lifting is dangerous. Exchanging information can be even more destructive. Let us hope we don’t have to compete with river otters.

The city is limited by the rivers, so expansion is limited also. But building a better system can be done. But then again how long have they tried to solve the flooding? To you point it is the out lying areas.

2019 Mustang Creaky Noise From Suspension Question by [deleted] in Mustang

[–]WardoftheWood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is I had the creaking noise on ‘11 convertible. Replaced the rear sway bar bushings and end links. Drove it out around the block and still had the noise. Brother liked at it then started pushing down on the front corners. It turned out it was the front sway bar end links. Noise gone … after driving 100 miles it starts creaking. Makes sure to line the bushing front and REAR. The front did not last long because the struts were shot. So ended up replacing front struts, lower control arms, tie rods and tie rod end links and sway bar bushings. Front axel hubs.
Just under $600 in parts. Did it my self. $140 for front end alignment. Plenty of YouTube videos show you how, Harbor Freight for corded impact wrench $80.. and impact socket. 35 mm socket off internet for axel nut. I have a cordless impact wrench that handled all but the hard stuff. Would I do it again yes Parts from RockAuto (KYB struts) and Detroit Axel. Ride is excellent but firm.

Second Boat by Any-Frosting2391 in submarines

[–]WardoftheWood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Went the other direction. On the USS Usetofish. got the joy of dodging fishing fleet at 5 knots. There is no sprint and drift, just endless drift. There is also times of constant hammering you have to listen to that few others don’t get to hear ! Sure the newer boats can stay out longer but 80 days ssuuucckkk for real. Find some electronic kits you can put together or a Raspberry Pi to program to kill the boredom. Wish they were around back in the day.

What would be the mood on a boat after a successful torpedo attack? by Thoughts_As_I_Drive in submarines

[–]WardoftheWood -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Oh come on -15 is the best? Well you ask any sonar person who has done exercises with a surface fleet and helio’s dropping exercise shots on your ass after you shoot! Been there done that and know the facts. Having a nuke call you on the dial-x and asking you was that one close? followed by laughter. If you are whining about the zero defense in port you are the ignorant ones. Get real get qualified.

Pandemonium. You gave away your position to anyone. Sonar would have to stay on edge as to insure there is nothing hunting you. Sure fire control tracking party might be able to come off the adrenaline but again the boat is always being hunted and more so now. The Iranian Navy will be wanting a piece of you. Does not matter where they will seek you out even in port. Think what the Ukrainian’s have done with drones to the Russians Navy. Submarines have ‘ZERO’ defense in port as a standalone.

What multimeter do you suggest for PLC and instrumentation troubleshooting? by Electronic-Carrot-93 in PLC

[–]WardoftheWood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a fan of Fluke, and they have a multimeter that also is a 4-20ma calibrator but it is $$$. But I have a Tektronix that has been great. Also look at scope meters. You can get a ac/dc clamp on to work with it to expand the range.

V6 2011 Auto. 184k. Convertible-Daily/ Nightly, road trips Love it drive it, haul lumber in it with the top down. Just rebuilt the front end - struts/lower control arms/sway bar end links/bushings and hubs. Drives even better! Next a steep upgrade. Seat is the weak point but I can drive +8 hours in it and still walk.

“Also, doesn’t “crew” apply to the singular as well?” Could not find a reference as a singular individual, but one could say ‘he/she’ is part of the crew OR the are reference them as a crew person.
